i love how honest and real her what I eat in a day videos are. some of the ones on UA-cam if you look at them they're kind of fake. I feel like they're purposefully trying to make this cute and sexy and glamorous image at what they eat today whether it's what they eat or not and it's kind of awkward. I almost feel like a lot of videos like that are scripted.... they just don't seem real. I love the way she does these. I do have to say there really isn't an unscripted version of Lauren this is it. it's just whatever's on her mind whatever she wants to eat and whatever she wants to do. love it.
Hey Lauren! I'm a student at McMaster and attended your talk (asked about setting goals). Thanks again for coming by - we always love to hear from industry professionals who are working in the digital world! Also, I have since become obsessed with your channel :)
I used to be HCLF vegan but it was SO MUCH FOOD. i went back to intuitive vegan eating (what i was doing before) and it is just so much more freeing. Having all those rules and what to eat what not to eat is way too much for me. as long as its vegan, it is probably gonna end up in my mouth.
a-fricken-men. I'm not saying that people who do high-carb low-fat I'm crazy but I have a hard time believing that that is good for somebody long-term versus just being vegan there are so many different alternatives to animal products it's just amazing. The thing was veganism and I think it turns people off is let's face it being vegan is a lot of work. I mean if you're going to make tofu scramble you have to physically break up your block of tofu and then season it and work with it to make it simulates eggs. I think part of what goes on with some people is they just aren't willing to do the work and if you think about it it's kind of like people who just make really broad judgments are not willing to do all the research and really educate themselves. I love your "if it's vegan it's going to end up in my mouth" comment. that is GOLD.
I wish I could like this comment a thousand 1000 times. I have done the exact same thing. HCLF was just triggering to my eating disorder, those rules were ridiculous, and I became miserable because there was so much stuff I felt I couldn't eat within veganism. So happy I don't worry about fat and oil now. It's made me more balanced and healthy which is ironic because I eat more fats and processed foods but my mind set is slowly getting better
Casey Sanders I'm sorry, but there's no such thing as "intuitive eating" and "listening to your body". Your body is not reliable. If you're getting enough calories and nutrients, and if you feel physically healthy, then great, but it's not advisable. Just an example, a vegan Natalie Portman "intuitively" felt the need to consume eggs and dairy products during her pregnancy. That's what she "felt" she should be eating. She more than likely was deficient in something and/or not consuming enough food and calories, and the issue could have been corrected without her going back to animal products. You simply can't rely solely on what you're feeling at any given time. Your emotional states and life events can impact your appetite and what foods you're drawn to. And there is no one way to do HCLF. You can eat all raw, yes, or RT4, where you're consuming a lot of food, or you can eat a cooked/partially cooked diet that's easier to eat. But a whole food, HCLF diet has been shown to be optimal for human health (diets like the one Caldwell Esselstyn, T. Colin Campbell, and John McDougall recommend). Intuitive eating definitely can't work for everyone, or even most people, and is potentially dangerous. That's not saying that anyone has to be perfect, but we need some dietary rules, otherwise we eat whatever the hell we want.
I think a lot of people actually don't know that it's bad eating processed meats. They probably know you can get fat (which is probably worse with our norms about appearance and what not...) but not that you will actually get cancer. I'm glad it's spreading the word!
Great a what I ate! We made your sweet & sour tofu the other night and it was truly to die for Lauren. My honey wanted it, but I usually am not a huge fan, well I tell ya. We also fried some mushrooms, green beans and spring onions with the leftover batter. One of the best meals ever.
I was just in the hospital for a week having spinal fusion and being vegan, hubs had to bring all of my food and of course one of the things he brought was the s & s tofu and people were going nutty over the smell and my roommate who was pretty curious about veganism wanted the recipe so i had her pull up your blog, she was super impressed. I didn't bring any technology so I really missed you! Can't wait to get back in the kitchen and cooking.
Love these videos! Your channel is my fav girl. Making your homemade pizza and cauliflower buffalo wings from your blog on Saturday and I cannot wait!! :)
I am obsessed with these videos! The one thing I was wondering if you could do is specify where you get your vegan food in terms of grocery stores here and what not. At least in past videos there were some things I wanted to know where you got them and you didn't mention it, so when you can, that'd be cool :)
going on a crazy binge of your what I ate in a day videos...as soon as you said much I had such an AH HA! moment about where you seemed familiar! I knew it couldn't have been the stereotypical canadian "do you know bob?" thing hahaha
I am thinking about dabbling in veganisms and I watched a few of Freelees videos and I just got a bit scared :D After watching your videos I feel I could actually do this in a normal working life. Thanks
I felt the same way, been considering switching since seeing these vids. I like the normalization of it instead of the crazy, "only eat 50 bananas and dates!!!"
vaaciete There are two types of vegans: those who are exceptionally health-conscious and those who aren't. Health-consciousness is often the primary motivation for some people to go vegan. But you don't have to eat the way Freelee does. In fact, I don't think any doctor or nutritionist recommends RT4 or an entirely raw vegan diet (although it can be done healthfully). If you're a vegan who prioritizes health, follow the dietary recommendations of Drs. Caldwell Esselstyn, T. Colin Campell, Neal Barnard, and John McDougall. If you don't prioritize health, then eat whatever vegan food you want. It's your choice.
Appreciate the content so much, such a laid back approach, still entertaining...I just get so damn hungry Next kitchen mission: those rice crispies! Curious, what camera do you use?
Im binging your videos a ton right now and first I saw you go to moon bean and NOW the whole foods in oakville stop going to the places I go when I am not there lauren GOD. Lol.
Ahh I knew you looked and your name was familiar!!! You're from Much Music! So nice to see a good UA-camr so close to home. I discovered your channel today and I LOVE it! Sending love from Ottawa :)
I go to Mac and totally missed your talk :( It was so cool seeing Nicole in your video! When I saw you were at Bridges, I was like "Uh-oh, a foodie like Lauren isn't going to like the food there..." I've never been a fan of the food at Bridges but it's nice to have a vegan and vegetarian place on campus. I'm glad you got to check it out!
omg I just started watching your videos and I got soooo excited when I saw Bridges :o I basically lived there last year when I lived on campus! McMaster love
I go to McMaster and went to bridges all the time first year, I was shocked at the beginning of the video when I heard you say you were coming here lol. I just started following and didn't even know where you were from! What were you at McMaster for?
I just freaked out with your genius idea of watering down hummus for dressing!!! I usually blend up an avocado with sriracha and lemon for mine.... so going to try hummus for a change....
Love this video. You also live super close to me, it's nice to see another vegan so close to myself. My brother goes to McMaster and idk I just thought it was cool haha
like the crispy noise, its from the healthy almond flour mixed into the dough for that consistency. Uh! Soooo good!!!! so healthy!!!!!!!!!! Ever since I went vegan, am having to worry less and less about me getting some health ailment that can blow up my savings... it worries me as a single person sometimes.. I appreciate Veganism very highly!!! it has also put my crazy nerves to rest and am not so jumpy as I used to be! Vegan = healthy!
I really liked this, Lauren! My friend shared your hot for food channel with me and I have to say it's super exciting to find a local channel and see local snacks/etc. (I recognized the parking lot from the Whole Foods in Oakville. You also showed me that Chao cheese is finally here! YAY.) Probably what I liked most about this was the honest dialogue about what you eat/activity level. I get so much shit from people sometimes about my eating habits but if I've got my butt in my chair editing all day I don't need to eat as much. I eat when I'm hungry, haha.
+Lauren Toyota What! You're blowing my mind! I didn't even know they offered oven baked vegan pizzas in the deli section. (Haha, I never go there...) thanks for the tip!
You are one of my fav you tubers 😍❤️❤️❤️❤️ your amazing! I've been vegan for 5 yrs and I just wanted to know how long you have been vegan and btw I don't eat that much either and everyone thinks we feast everyday but I don't ever work out and when I do it is yoga. Just like if you eat meat and dairy if you don't work out you don't need to eat a lot of food but if you work out a lot you might have to eat way more than the regular person:) btw love love u!!!!!!!!!!
I love you so much! I love how you aren't so strict and try to make us think you eat perfectly but in reality we don't! Keep doing what you are doing!!!!!!❤️❤️❤️btw I love love love the the cauliflower wings, so good!!!!
Ya it looked like that pizza was so full of stuff it would be hard to tell. If you get the just cheese one you can tell a bit better. I also think on some of flavors it says right on the box. Although I haven't had one since Daiya came up with their own pizza so maybe it has changed. I don't recommend daiyas. I think because of the gluten free crust.
You wouldn't believe how many instagrammers i've seen #healthy #cleaneating with a ceaser salad loaded with chicken and bacon.......so NOPE, not everyone is up to speed...*shakes head*
Is Fresh restaurant exist anywhere else besides Canada? We actually have Fresh in Moscow and it has the same logo, so i wonder if it's from the same owner or they just "borrowed" the idea, haha
I really like how you show what most vegans really eat and what is normal eating. I hate how all those youtubers are eating super healthy even tho most of vegans don't eat only fruit and vegetables and whole wheat rice all day long. popcorn for dinner and eating vegan cakes before bed is real life!
Maybe this could be for a Q&A but how do you transition to being a vegan when the people around you don't approve? Maybe not approving isn't the correct term but they don't understand it. I'm trying to become full began but it's hard when everyone around me is eating dairy and such. I need some advice
Hi Lauren, I just came across you channel and have a question. I'm a 16 year old sophomore in highschool and basically everything my family buys and everything the school gives us for lunch is meat and processed foods. I don't particularly have a lot of money and i've noticed that vegan food are a bit more expensive. Do you have any advice or tips for me? I'd like to start a vegan lifestlye and get into eating more greens but we usually don't have those around the house. Anything would be useful. Thank you!
+MadisonBrianne Hiya! I'm obviously not Lauren, and I know you left this comment a while ago, but maybe I can help a little bit? I just wanted to say that being vegan doesn't have to be expensive - it normally only is if you opt for the fake meats/cheeses etc. A lot of the cheapest foods - rice, potatoes, pasta, legumes to name a few - are vegan. As for fruit and veg, try to look for seasonal produce, and look for things in bargain baskets or things that are reduced because they look deformed or are deemed too ripe. Often they're perfectly fine! Frozen fruit and veg is also a good, cheaper alternative. It's frozen fresh so you're not missing out on any nutrients. Good luck!
the other thing to note about veganism in terms of how much you eat is if you are high carb low fat (HCLF) or raw till 4 or entirely raw you have to eat a lot more calories to compensate for the fact that your overall eating is so restrictive. if you're just vegan you can eat things like tofu and being throughout the day with her extremely high in protein compared to trying to find a row equivalent that is really high in protein is much more difficult see you may need to eat more in general to compensate just to reach the same threshold of calories or whatever
You are so cute! I like your what I eat in a day videos because you show what you really eat and that it's okay to not eat spinach all day. :) A lot of the vegan videos seem so unrealistic for busy, everyday life.
Lauren, in response to your comments on meats causing cancer: totally agree! I watch my in-laws cook EVERYTHING, almost, in animal fat and it disgusts me. Bacon fat in the cast iron pan for cornbread or ham hocks to boil with the legumes - ugh, nasty. And the SLIMINESS of bologna? Ewww. Meat is just gross. And how people just ignore how bad it is for you makes me super sad. Also, you should eat to where your body feels good. If you're energized and not hungry, you should be ok. You have a relatively vegetable rich diet, from what I can see, so I highly doubt you're super deficient in any nutrient. So just eat well & feel good. You don't have to justify anything to us. :) Be well! Love your content!
You honestly inspire me to become a vegan but I just feel like it would be super hard. I live in the South which is known for their hearty meat so I don't know to much else.
these are the most relatable "what I eat in a day"videos I have ever seen
i love how honest and real her what I eat in a day videos are. some of the ones on UA-cam if you look at them they're kind of fake. i love these videos and i love that you're not into trying to be perfect in these what i ate in a day video. who lives like that anyway?
I know I kinda hated the small amount of what I ate videos I had seen so I just thought what the heck! Let's show this and this is just what happens
"I'm saving the rest for John"
*throws foil over pizza*
"I have to go now"

PS. How come you look so cute eating? That is not a common thing.

proving you can still eat horribly while vegan.. A+haha
idk why but the sounds you make when you eat are satisfying 😂😂😂
Hahaha thanks! I'm sure it's annoying to others ;)
It's called ASMR:)))
I love how genuine this video is x

I wish I had vegan cheese near me!!!!!!!!!!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!
+JustMeBre eat a regular marshmallow?
Regular marshmallows contain gelatin.

+PWskates lol no thanks

I love the part when Lauren was about to take a bite of the burger and the woman behind her pops up, hahaha
I really like how you show what most vegans really eat and what is normal eating. I hate how all those youtubers are eating super healthy even tho most of vegans don't eat only fruit and vegetables and whole wheat rice all day long. popcorn for dinner and eating vegan cakes before bed is real life!

Wait vegan croissant!? Where from? P.S. love how relatable your eating is :) and Bridges is sooo great!
LOL Jamie Oliver claimed bacon as a super food I laughed so hard when you started talking about it like duhhhh people are stupid
A super food!? Wtf
See if john will do a what I eat in a day.
+Sarah Bennett AHAHAHAAAAA... it was he will say :)
You are so cute! I like your what I eat in a day videos because you show what you really eat and that it's okay to not eat spinach all day. :) A lot of the vegan videos seem so unrealistic for busy, everyday life.
+Janelle Villa thank you!
+Shelby Little thanks so much for watching
I'm not a fan of Daiya cheese or nutritional yeast, does anyone have any other recommendations for vegan cheese?
Chao cheese and Earth Island provolone slices!
I just tried Kite Hill and its amazing! I'll definitely give those a try, thanks!
You honestly inspire me to become a vegan but I just feel like it would be super hard. I live in the South which is known for their hearty meat so I don't know to much else.
+Micheale' Mulder well small steps right! It's probably just a matter of sourcing out where you can get what you need! Hope you give it a try
totally understand, i really don't eat very often since i stopped working out bc i just dont feel hungry! im a vegetarian :)
I always see flashes of Olivia Munn randomly in her face! Definitely a resemblance at times. I love your videos!!
Man I wish they had those easy vegan pizzas here in NZ, vegan easy options are so hard to find!!
I go to that whole foods occasionally, I got two vegan birthday cakes there :)
This video makes me want to move to Canada... We don't have restaurants like that here T__T
My dad thinks meat is good for him, especially bacon! I try to tell him how bad it is, he just won't listen.
