A look at the dice delivered by Impact! Miniatures second dice Kickstarter, aimed primarily at the Dungeon Crawl Classics crowd, but fun for any gamer~
No D11? Oh, there it is. DPrime dice should roll just the prime numbers maybe. Some people say they have dice older than you. You have dice odder than them.
I have got the fever...Dice Fever. My set just arrived and I'm staring at them, inflamed with lust at the thought of all the random results ahead. And the d30 is noticeably smaller than the golf ball-sized one I already have. That _is_ cool.
I would recommend dropping the dice into a clear drinking glass or mug. Not only do you have less of a problem with rounder dice rolling off but you'll get a nice scrambling action and greater randomness..
Wouldn't non-rounded corners be better for the higher numbered ones? I expect they'd stop sooner. For that matter, making all the surfaces should do the same for angular momentum reasons. (Though I'm not sure if it'd be worth it)
Runeslinger Oh I bet! I was meaning for all of those large dice in general though (like the notorious d30). Kinda like the difference between gaming d6 and casino d6 if that makes sense.
Runeslinger The older d24 may look a little bit awkward, but it seems better than the new one, right? What do you think? The original d4 doesn't roll so well as the new d4, but I still prefer the original. What about the d5, d7 and the d9? Do thy really roll fine?
I find the original D24 will stop earlier. The new one needs a tray. This is basically true of all the higher numbered spherical dice. I like all the odd-sided dice. They feel like a D6 in terms of stopping speed and apparent distribution.
Runeslinger True. A "normal" dice, the d6, doesn't roll for too long. The original d4 roll even less. The dice also rolls in your hand and in the air when you release it. That's why I would pick the older d24. I hope I can buy mine from China.
I'm holding out for a quantum computed holographic set. Could be waiting a while and am a little concerned with regard to my understanding of the nature of time, many worlds theory, reincarnation, consciousness etc. It's all rather odd and perhaps I should just get the plastic ones and some therapy for now.
You could be branded as a heretic by staunch traditionalists for such sentiments. Changing the d20 (despite all the different ways this has already been done) could be seen as unthinkable.
Gah! I didn't like the looks of that dice set. Fugly d7 with bendy numbers and Roman numbered d3 just put me off... but if I can buy some of the others to fill in Koplow's 'Who Knew' sets I'll get some.
+nuclearthreat545 As hobby items, I would say no one needs dice. For game uses, dice generate a random result, typically numbers, to facilitate play according to their rules. Many of the dice shown in this video are innovative in their design which allows odd-numbered results to be rolled. The others simply offer expanded ranges of results, or aesthetically different options in better-matched sizes and colors than were previously available. As I enjoy dice, and use them for a variety of games often, all of these elements were enjoyable. I hope that helps explain why these dice might be desirable.

Haha~ Both, I suspect.
;)

We need an X-prize for developing the smallest, legible, shortest stopping-distance D30~

+1locust1 Good suggestion~
Enormous d30 :D
You are the specialist~
;)
Hah, been waiting for this

The original d24 with its triangular faces definitely stops more quickly. The new versions, I feel, need a dice tray.

It makes sense, it's just that not all designs will support sharper edges for faces, or have faces large enough to matter.

Don’t like the d4. The rest actually look pretty cool.

rhombic icosahedra make the best d20s

The d3 was controversial as I recall. I have a few other types if it really begins to bug me. The d5, 7, 9, and 11, however I like~
why the fuck do you need this
