I feel like the styling was ahead of its time. I used to hate the styling, but as time has gone on, these look stunning to me. My E61 is a stunner, and I always turn back to take a look at it everytime I park it. ❤️
Weird isn't it? I felt exactly the same way at the time, as did my brother who literally just bought an E60 525 msport today. 'Ahead of their time' is an understatement!

same here guys, I only have a 530d but I love it so much.. Im looking for M54 or N52 now, but in my country (Slovakia) there are only Škodas everywhere..
I used to trade in my cars every couple of years, until I got the E60 (used). I've owned this 550i for 10 years with the only issue being the steering angle sensor. It's gone out twice in those ten years, but that's a 45 minute, $5 repair. Throughout the years, I've gone twice to trade in the E60 for a newer car. Both times I got out of the car I was test driving, gave the key back to the salesman and literally ran back to my E60 and drove home. My pre-LCI weights only 3800 lbs with a V8, so it will pick up speed like a hungry cheetah. Because of the active suspension, it corners very flat, yet the suspension is not punishing at all on rough surfaces. Just the other day, a new neighbor told me that her husband was envious of my "brand new" BMW. I just laughed and say "this old thing?"

I've had my 530d M Sport from new (2006). It is still like new after 15 years, no problems at all, covered 80k miles. Still looks new. Had the blanking plates done by PMW in Chelmsford. Avoided remap. I over-service it, no expense spared. Often think I should buy a new car, but my car drives perfectly, no rattles, fast and 40 mpg. No rust, the paintwork is perfect. Was told that this era of BMW was the last to have multi-layered thick paint etc. All the original light bulbs still work, never had to replace a single bulb. Only one new set of brake discs and pads from new. Will probably keep it until electric cars become more reliable and have more range, my car isn't worth anything, but at the same time I would never find one so well looked after again. So many people, even today, tell me how beautiful it looks. Only gripe is the run flats and hard ride. Brilliant cars, so happy to own one.
My dad had this car almost 20 yrs ago and I called it Dame Edna (those headlights!) he maintained it himself and it lasted years. I now have one myself and I driving it is like therapy and spa treatment. My dad helps me with the maintenance and I have found a fantastic mechanic with 40 yrs experience and has worked on more e60s than Sytner and charges half of what they do! There are some of garages that know this car. It’s the dark horse family run garages that have been in practice for several decades.

Bangle actually wasn’t the main designer of this car. Thanks to an internal sketching contest, an Italian guy named Davide Arcangeli was responsible for the majority of the e60 and Bangle more or less signed off on it. Unfortunately Arcangeli never lived to see the e60 make it to production because he died of Lukemia a few years before the car would be released. I find it sad that this guy died designing one of the best cars in the world and gets so little credit for it.
I recently bought a 2007 530i wagon. "M sport facelift". It's white and sits on beautiful 19inch 7 spoke rims... Just absolutely stunning and truely immaculate for it's age. I got it for five and a half grand New Zealand dollars. Low k's. Really well looked after and maintained. It drives like nothing I've driven before that's for sure. The more I drive it the more I love it and I think it loves me too. I really have to agree with what you say about the lines though. Awesome video, just a quick nerdy note.. Chris Bangle was the chief designer but it was actually Davide Arcangeli who made the concept of this Bmw e60. It was so radical that Chris needed a few years to give the “ok” for the project to start. Sadly, Davide died before the first car was ever sold..
I never thought I would see somebody love this car as much as myself. Glad to see someone appreciate it so much. Getting my dreamed car ( this e60 ) really soon!

The transmission blew and I couldn't afford to fix it, so I had to sell it to someone who wanted it for parts. Still to this day, I regret that choice and constantly dream about driving that machine again.
I've owned an E61 and two E60s. If you can't look after them or want something cheap to repair buy a Ford or Vauxhall. My current one is a 523i 55 plate with 55k on. It won't break any land speed records but it's a solid motor and been cared for. History is important with these cars
Yes bro my o7 530i all my buddies be like dam what year is this and they be shock when i tell them its an 07 its a beauty keep it up i love learning alot more about my car !
Amazing. I've had a 530d e60 for 3 years. I've had many issues with the car slot of struggles. But I battled through and its absolutely perfect. I love the car never since I was a kid. The stories I could tell from my e60 alot of people would not believe. But I have full trust in the M57's motors and the e60 is just gorgeou. Especially the lci model.
Awesome video BMW Doctor ! I have one from 2008 530i 6 in-line cylinders, 24 valve. I bought it back then, paint is original untouched (except stone chips at front) and still shows the factory finish platinum gold. 200k miles on the clock and drives superb still after 15 years. No major issues except wear and tear. Original e60 engine and 6 speed triptronic gearbox untouched except for servicing. Very fast with top end 155mph 😜. I would buy a new one again if I could. Had a recall few years ago from main BMW which gave me updated injectors and coil packs all courtesy of main BMW dealer. BMW reckon the engine will run 250K mikes before rebore. Problem is nowadays is finding a quality mechanic to take care of it as dealers are a rip off. Timeless engineering .... Will never sell it. Watch out for me on Car SOS with Fuzz pimping my ride 🤣🤣🤣
As much as I’m enjoying my F30, I must admit I do miss my 525i, NA inline 6. Perhaps it only offered adequate power & torque by comparison with the inline 4 turbo, but its smoothness sure beats the 4 bangers. You are so correct to say it’s difficult to find a decent well maintained E60 nowadays.
What a surprise. In Spain many people told me that M54 was the most reliable engine, due to issues with thinner timing chains and direct injection in later petrol versions... Maybe they were wrong. People here prefers M54 despite it's heavier and has worse mpg. Thanks a lot for the video
I just got me a 2006 E60 525i . I live in Mexico and people think I'm Rich now! LOL Little kids on my block look mesmerized when I pass driving by them. I think I am inspiring them to go to school and become successful. LMAO
Doc you're right but also slightly wrong about these cars, my 530D left me stranded a few months back and it kept on juddering no codes in ista or any other software i had to take it to an Indy in the end first time in my life he could not figure it out either but in the end he did it turned out to be the throttle body for some reason Ista would not pick it up and store it in the system so i suppose it all depends on the issue at hand. I'm sure 95% of issues can be dealt with via maintenance and diagnostic software aslong as the diagnostics picks up the problem.
This car is beautiful. Truely special, we won't see cars like these anymore, and don't get me started on the gem of a 3,000cc engine, music to the ears. I wish i could afford it ❤ Bimmer all the way.
2023 and I just dropped my E46 convertible for a 2007 520d lci with 212k on the clock. Paid a grand for it needs about 500 quids worth of work and its good to go.
Totally agree. You are spot on. Also anyone that says BMW E series are unreliable is not correct and doesn't deserve to own one either. For me I had to fix cars myself and without my software knowledge for me.would be impossible. I cannot trust a stealership with my car . Years ago I proved I knew more than the head of diagnosis in BMW and they offered me a job which I declined. These cars deserve to be maintained, they will reward you for that.
Just bought a 07 525i got it at a auction for $900 missing key and unknown milage so it was a no start no crank, last oil sticker had 191k, car was so complete n not super torn up. If engine is bad or anything Im gonna use it to teach my son how to fix and work on cars, hes 5 so he has 10 plus years of learning by the time its his. Already figure out of of the issues thank to your videos, i found a spare key in glove box and just order a bmw specific scanner to reset the steering lock counter, will work throughout the rest of the issues as the years come along. If we get bored might turbo it or swap it 😂
This car is truly beautiful, i got the 530i and is solid, end of the day is called a BMW for a reason. Regardless of whatever work it needs doing, you're always gna do the work on a car you love and spend money on it cz you love the car itself.
I recently brought a very tidy 09 e60 525i as my daily driver and I love this car, is extremely comfortable, reliable and very fun to drive and although the looks are controversial I love the look of it. I also own an e30 as my weekend car and I definitely think an e60 is an extremely good choice if you only want one car for all of the other reasons mentioned.
I’m dreading having to take my intake manifold out to take a look at the vacuum lines. I’ve been doing all the maintenance and repairs on my 05 e60. 251k mi and still running strong. But damn I’m really dreading having to take my intake manifold off especially since I don’t have everything I should replace down there.
I always liked BMW growing up but never thought I'd get one until I got a 2010 550i m sport in 2018. Unfortunately I got carbon monoxide poisoning while driving from Massachusetts to Arizona and while in Texas I drove about 3 hours while knocked out cold and ended up barely missing an overpass and ended up smashing through a center median light pole. It was estimated that I was doing around 80mph at impact! Completely blew out both headlights, destroyed both front tires and wheels, destroyed the front end, the hood roundel was pushed back a good foot and a half, all front airbags deployed. I walked away without a scratch! No broken nose from the airbag and no bruising from the seatbelt! I was so in love with that car that I searched online for a solid 2 months until I found a near identical car. Same year, model, and color, almost all the same options, and slightly better mileage. Scooped it up and had it shipped from Georgia to Arizona! Then about 5 months later I picked up a 2013 F30 328i m sport FBO with a stage 2 Bootmod3 tune. Glacier silver so I put a ton of carbon fiber in it cuz it blends perfectly with the paint. Pretty sure I won't ever go away from BMW now that I've had a few. So much fun to drive! So good lookin! And there aren't many people who don't enjoy seeing a beautiful BMW roll up!
My dream car was 530xd, so I hunt one great car down and I buy it! 32k kilometers but all the main faults are fixed. I just simply love my car. With xDrive it is like driving at summer day in Finnish winter weather.

These cars are excellent. I am defo looking to buy one but want a M5 E60. I have brought a 330cd 2006 manual and just fixing the problems on it first. Many thanks Dean for the videos 🙏🏼😊
2:20 Boyke Boyer and Davide Arcangeli actually designed the E60. Chris Bangle and BMW just approved it (and took the blame for people saying it was ugly) Davide Arcangeli sadly died shortly after his final design was approved, but never saw the final design, on the roads. But i agree with you, i really love the E60 design, it looks great.
I have the M54 525 for years now , never had a problem. They need regular maintanance (oilchange etc), but besides that the only real problem was a broken fuelinjector. It had to be changed after 300k.(km)
2010 CPO 528i bought in 2013 now with 93k. I’m not anywhere knowable and experienced as you with these but my son can help out when needed. Only one issue fixed by dealer. Maintaining really is not that bad. I love this car and later I added a 2015 535i just for me which I love also. I still drive hers a lot though, and it goes on the longer trips.
Absolutely agree, but why is the older M54 unreliable/or the one to let go? We're at 240k with the 2004 530i, and of course, had some issues. Nothing of great money and we still love this car. Planning to get it to 500k if it wants to 🎉
I bought an e60 530i 08 Lci last year after watching this video and I fell in love with it, really a beautiful car especially with the m tech body kit. What I really enjoy about it is how the people think it's a new car like 2015 or something like that.😆 It had couple issues but thanks to u doctor I've managed to fixed it all and now its my daily. 😎✌️
If you don’t know and you’re thinking of buying an e60 you absolutely should. You might not know this but it’s a VERY reliable car. After so many years working with that v8 bmw really got it down in these cars. Very predictable and any issue you encounter with these is very simple and expected. Another thing if you’re looking to buy. It doesn’t look like it but a v8 550i will put your head in the seat similar to the way an srt8 will pull. Very very powerful feeling card. Buy to try it for a while. Cars are extremely good. Mine has 150k and I’ve yet to experience an issue other than a few small oil leaks which was an easy fix :)
I got 530i for 5k 2004 m54 engine I straight pipe it sounds great Sounds like fast car 😂 123,000 miles now 130,000 4 months with it now , I just like how it rides and doesn’t look like all the other cars around me lol

These have grown on me over time and I do really like them now. Still, love an E39, but I might get an E60 soon.
I had my 2008 BMW 550i for the past 8 years. I’ve had issues in the past but I still love them so much!! Her name is Daphney and she’s a keeper.
lol Love it
He speaking facts if you don’t take care of what’s yours it’s not gonna last you a long time
Proud E60&E70 owner Bimmer Boyz Worldwide!!!!!!!
Just bought a 08 528i with 81k miles. Only had it 2 weeks and I love it
Yes bro my o7 530i all my buddies be like dam what year is this and they be shock when i tell them its an 07 its a beauty keep it up i love learning alot more about my car !
No problem bro keep enjoying it and keep the hustle real with these cars
I like my 2007 530d (which I bought in 2012) so much that I a still drive it in 2023! Drives like the day I bought it 😀
People can say whatever they want about the e60 m5. But I love it!
What a surprise. In Spain many people told me that M54 was the most reliable engine, due to issues with thinner timing chains and direct injection in later petrol versions... Maybe they were wrong.
People here prefers M54 despite it's heavier and has worse mpg.
Thanks a lot for the video
One of the most controversial BMW designs out of any series but a stunner💯🙌
I have an 06 carbon black e60 with 18" BBS rx209's, eibach springs on a private plate & it still looks fresh and modern looking today.
There you go and I'm glad your enjoying it
I have a 2005 e60 6 speed . I don’t want to throw it away. Need to learn how to repair it myself
I just got me a 2006 E60 525i . I live in Mexico and people think I'm Rich now! LOL Little kids on my block look mesmerized when I pass driving by them. I think I am inspiring them to go to school and become successful. LMAO
This is my favourite car i ever driven ! Im gonna looking for it in 2023 :)
I wish i could afford it ❤
Bimmer all the way.
One of my favourite bmw designs to be honest
E60 is my favourite 5 series of all-time!! The M Sport model look amazing 👏
I want this or an e93 as my first car but I’m not experienced at all mechanically. Does it have a lot of issues?
It also seems like this car is really good and it compares to how people describe the e92/93 328i, so I’m not sure which one is a better car
I have a 2005 530 with over 300,000 miles. Solid car and I’m looking for another one. Learning to work on it helps! I appreciate this channel!
Just picked my 2nd one up few days ago! 👌🏻 125k on the clock
I recently brought a very tidy 09 e60 525i as my daily driver and I love this car, is extremely comfortable, reliable and very fun to drive and although the looks are controversial I love the look of it. I also own an e30 as my weekend car and I definitely think an e60 is an extremely good choice if you only want one car for all of the other reasons mentioned.
these are very high tech.. i know them inside out,,,no modern car can come close !most programble car ever !
Your correct there indeed and the programming makes owning this car fun and worth it every time you plug it up :)
@@BMWDoctor could you give me your email. I want to send you some pictures of my e60, you would be surprised !
I love the E60. I have a 2008 535I and a 2007 M5. Once you fix them they can be very reliable.
once you fix them... haha! ...and keep fixing them...
E60 is sexiest looking bmws ever made and it loks modern. If I'd see this car for the first time I would think that this is made in 2021
I’m dreading having to take my intake manifold out to take a look at the vacuum lines. I’ve been doing all the maintenance and repairs on my 05 e60. 251k mi and still running strong. But damn I’m really dreading having to take my intake manifold off especially since I don’t have everything I should replace down there.
Manifold is pretty straightforward enough to take off
Im looking at a 530xi is there any major common issues to get over
I love my E60 it’s my sixth bmw they are great cars as long as you take care of it
I always liked BMW growing up but never thought I'd get one until I got a 2010 550i m sport in 2018.
Own 2010 550i amazing car !!!
Good man and I’m glad your enjoying it I love the 550i as well 😁
Nice car 👍 i love the 550i its fucking fast as hell
I have an 07 530i with the 6spd, it’s at 232k miles and going strong
I own mine since 2017 and i love it !! 2004 525d m57n auto ! best bmw channel on youtube !!
Thanks a lot Mate I appreciate it a lot trust me this channel has blown up over the last few months it’s become unstoppable the views the subscribers has been unreal.
I have invested the money from the last few months into bigger things trust me I’m taking this channel to a new height bro just wait 😁 this month it’s coming.
My e60 530xi beast just got 105k miles! Original black saphire looks emazing 15 years later shines better then my neighbors new vett
There you go
E46 m sport coupe/convertible looks fresh if not fresher in 2022 than E60. Timeless chassis.
E60 , my pride. Won’t trade it for anything.
Just first second ❤ love u bro u mean business in my language we say shisa tsotsi thanks
These cars are excellent. I am defo looking to buy one but want a M5 E60. I have brought a 330cd 2006 manual and just fixing the problems on it first. Many thanks Dean for the videos 🙏🏼😊
Couldn't agree more!
I wish i had these great videos when i had my 323ci in 2003. Not an E90, but maybe i'd still have it.
I concur! I own an ‘08 e60 550i. I intend on keeping it for my 2-year-old son to enjoy!
How is the reliability? Is there any specific model to maybe consider or some model that is absolutely not worth buying?
Mine is a diamond key m54b30 but still reliable fast enough for me and throws Audi's and Mercedes
What I really enjoy about it is how the people think it's a new car like 2015 or something like that.😆
It had couple issues but thanks to u doctor I've managed to fixed it all and now its my daily. 😎✌️
What got broken im thinking to buy 530i but scared bc it is the first bmw i will own also thinking about genesis 2009
Love your videos mate, straight to the point. Left the Toyota guys crying after this video lol
My most favorite 5 series. I Loooovee it 😍
If you don’t know and you’re thinking of buying an e60 you absolutely should.
2008 E60 and love it
I have a 2008 535xi with 209k miles on it. I love it.
Good man keep enjoying it
What year is yours? I was thinking about buying one 2003 . What do you think?
I got 530i for 5k
2004 m54 engine
I straight pipe it sounds great
Sounds like fast car 😂
123,000 miles now 130,000
4 months with it now , I just like how it rides and doesn’t look like all the other cars around me lol
Bmw doctor got an issue my e60 535d nobody can seem to fix absolutely love my car but its driving me insane I have no power to my horn or 12v socket and no power to the 3 20a fuses in the boot any advice ?
There's no errors or warning messages
M47 engine..520d...300k + miles
Real solid
I love my e60 545i but the repairs are so expensive sometimes, I just got the coolant transfer pipe and water pump done at a bmw Indy for $1600
Cheers Mate! Great info always! Thanks for all your vids. If you ain't driving a BMW, you ain't driving nothing but shit. Happy New year!
well said my friend and happy new year to you
I now have one. 520d se 08. Love it. Probably needs a good service and tune up. I'm in Norfolk if anyone knows a good bmw guy
Very good explanation
BMW should bring back the designs of e60 model 👌
