Just figured out my parking sensor problem and key problem thanks man!
I've been enjoying my new 60k original mile 04 530i in Alpine white. It's mint only bummer is it's got an oil leak , I switched to thicker oil 15w40 & it's better. ..really great car ..Hey great video you forgot to mention the rear window seal, I just did that job cheap & easy but it was cracked & dried out common problem I've heard with these cars.. Just subscribed
Thanks for the comprehensive review very informative and very well explained 👍
Glad it was helpful!
Agree on the drain plugs. Have been dealing with wet carpet back and front for 4 weeks drivers side. Unplugged drain and car is fine and used carpet washer with hair dryer to finally dry it out. Used white vinegar and bicarbonate to rid smell. Never again.
Just need to check other ECU box side as new ECU is expensive. Never had leaks in 30 yrs of owing cars but e60 within 2 months
Nice video! Thanks!
Thanks man
Forgot to mention the wiring loom wearing in the boot.
Symptoms are battery drain warning, loss of clock time and date and finally the boot won't open using any of the buttons and you need to use the key.
Good video though, thanks.
Very helpful video! From a new owner of a well used E60
You’re welcome Chris!
Nice video George,l.
Thanks as always Johny!
Amen on servicing your transmission, whether auto or manual. As to manual transmission, I changed out the fluid in my Z3 Coupe 5 speed at about 70k. It made a huge difference in shifting smoothly. I changed the fluid and filter in my auto trans F30 at 78k. Fluid was still nice looking, but this change is needed, per ZF. Now onto change fluid and filter in my e89.
George’s video has great value to all BMW owners. Most of this advice is applicable to a variety of our cars. Well done!
Agreed, thank you Jon!
Same brought a 1999 s2000 n change all fluids immediately, diff oil was surprisingly dirty
I’m thinking of getting a 06 is it reliable?
Hey George, i have recently had an issue with my e60 where the trunk wouldn’t open electrically, i have fixed the issue and it was the trunk cable that runs through the ”elbow pipe” on the right side from the trunklid to the battery. There is a rubber part at the end if it that has a sharp 90 degree turn which the cable is in and it ended up cutting the cable inside with time. You might wanna check that cable if you haven’t done so, seems like a normal issue. Sorry if i’m not clear in my description but i’m sure you know where i mean lol.
Yes that’s a common issue on the e61 too, not as common on the e60
This happened on my e39. Luckily had a sparky at work who was able to splice the wires back together for free.
Hi mate, Love your content. Is there any chance you could help me out? I’ve got two fault codes on my E60 LCI, “Side daytime light on left/right are faulty”
Idrive tells me to go to the dealer but I really don’t wanna be out of pocket here. My daytime running lights look aesthetically fine from the outside of the car, I changed the bulbs to be sure and they’re still cool. Could I get some guidance off of you please?
Cheers bro
Aftermarket bulbs?
@@GeorgeAusters Thanks for the reply mate.
No, I don’t think so as the bulbs that were in the car when the fault codes appeared were standard bulbs, and the replacements I installed were standard too, no Xenon yokes or anything just basic yellow. I’m really lost here, not sure if what I need to do is replace the halos themselves? It’s weird because the DRL lights are also the same bulb that the high beam originates from and my high beams work fine.
Interesting how the common issues are totally different from the E90
Fantastic.
Do you have any recommendations for getting Apple CarPlay into a 2006 530D with CCC and the smaller screen?
Not possible without installing an aftermarket unit which I’m not a fan of.
CIC is the best in an E60 in my opinion, has 80GB hard drive to store thousands of songs and maps are very good
@@GeorgeAusters Do you know anybody who has used one of these?
Also... keep up the awesome content! I love your videos. They are super honest and well put together.

Nice video George. I currently have a problem where car don’t start, I have temporarily disconnected my ibs sensor cable for the time being not sure if I should replace battery or ibs sensor. What would be the best option? Thanks
charge the battery rerun your wire and try
these guys dont answer question if you dont pay them ... sad bit true
@@e60tube90 done mate, thanks for your help. Halfords sorted new battery quick time, car staring up nicely. Thanks for commenting, appreciate it. Thank you
@@sandrotorre9390 no problem i thought like ... Ill answer causse these guys don't offer help 😉😉😉 glad it's fixed thanks for comment back at me mate
George what size 19” tyres do you go with on the spiders? Will 265. 35 rears and 255 35 r19 for no problem? Cheers
I run 275/35 on rear and 245/40 on front
@@GeorgeAusters if your set up works than my suggested one should be fine as it’s less than 2% increase, thanks 🙏
OEM for my 550 m sport is 275/30 19 on rears and 245/35 19 on front
I for one would like to see an air purge of this DSC/ABS with Ista if at all possible mate.
Will have to do it at some point!
2007 530i has parking sensors?
Yes
How much is it roughly for a gearbox oil change with all the things you said ?
You'd have to ask a Garage
@@GeorgeAusters I assumed you paid for yours so wanted a rough price
@@birdcrazy329 No I do all my own work.. Videos of everything is on my channel
@@birdcrazy329in croatia 200 250e oil is 120e and for work around 100e
now i have a long list

My cousin is a Mechanic, i turned 18 half a year ago and now i want a car. Hes saying i should get a e60 525d. He says their engine is Unkillable. I dont know how good of a car this is. I want a cool looking car but im also scared of the car coming with tons of problems. I only find e60's with 200k kilometers. Is that too high when im looking for a car?
525d will last 1 million km
@@GeorgeAustersthat is what he said too lol, i love how they look. Just a amazing looking car. I am just scared of repair costs because i have just heard that bmw’s Get tons of problems all the time and cost alot to maintain
E60 M sport looks better than a G30 LOL
