Hey man, I know you're blowing up quickly, so you may not see this, but we should do some kind of Collab on GW2. I need to grab the game for PC, but I play on Xbox. I've only made one video on the game, but I wanna do more eventually. I've loved GW2 since the day it came out. BFN was an early birthday gift to me when it first came out in early access, and I've had fun with it, but sadly, they gave up on it so quickly.
Just remeber the enginner litteraly replaced the hover goat which is kinda sad. Ik the Goat and treeman were like bonus classes but kmon they would’ve been awesome to have in bfn.
I spent countless hours on the BFN theme park skirmish area, and that was about all I did in the game... I loved the winter/holiday decorations that first Christmas season, but it never felt as magical as GW1 did for me. (I never got into GW2) It really sucks that we will never see another one of these most-likely, because it was such a fun and innovative idea. I remember the music in GW1 and how iconic it was, and just hearing it brings back a rush of memories. I really wish they'd give it another go and give us GW3.
One thing that came to my mind this year was about a Garden Warfare Remastered. I have a few reasons for that: 1. GW1 was the most successful and loved PvZ console game 2. It turned 10 years old this year 3. They relisted the game in the online store on PC 4. The game still gets new player (I still play it daily and there are always so many low rank players) 5. EA likes to resell old loved games again. They also did that with Need For Speed and Burnout Lemme know your opinion about that. Maybe this could even be a video idea to talk about

you forgot to mention how overly riddled with MTX the game had and it was a tedious grind to unlock stuff meanwhile the Switch release rectified that, and when I bought it for cheap on sale, I tried it out and was surprised to learn there was no mtx at all
BFN definitely would have had a chance to recover if they continued development (like what kind of happened with Battlefield) so that the shooter part of the franchise could still be supported
I hate bfn, only for 2 thing, no sticker packs, AND FUCKING ACORN WHY DOES ACORN EXIST, WITH HOW OFTEN YOU CAN USE THE BUG TREE FORM NORMLE ACORN SUCKS, AND HIS MIDDLE ABILITY TURNS HIM FROM A WEAK LITTLE SHIT TO A UN KILLABLE BEAST
To add on the no variants part there were no alternative abilities in BFN. Alt abilities are like the other half to character variety that made GW well GW, abilities that were different from the base but still used in a same or similar way. A key example would be the Bean Bombs, you had the basic Chili Bean Bomb, than the stronger but slower Sombrero Bean Bomb and lastly the faster paced double charge but weaker Dark Bean Bomb. It's weird that even in a setting like BFN where they could've fit in, the alt abilities didn't make a return, of course not too drastically as to fit in with the improved upgrade system but still alt abilities like the 2 other Bean Bombs or new ones like one for Soldier that has 2 charges but with shorter height (combine that with Rocket Leap upgrade would make GW's Rocket Leap) or any new abilities for the new characters.
1:46 likey bc they didn't have much resources in remaking over 100 variants a lot of them being copy paste of reg , likey the same reason the game cut off or reused lot of music and stuff. It really is a shame that they abandoned this game early cuz I like this game when most of the internet show hatred towards this game and never give it a chance. If they prepared more before the game release and kept some variants maybe things could be different for this game
Hot take, the variant system I did not enjoy they were pay to win/pay to skip the grind. I would hate to lose my 1v1 just because they had a better variant then me I’m glad they removed that system cosmetics was the way to go
nah this is a bad take. paying didnt even get you very far since there were so many characters so apart from a few high value bundles it wasnt pay to win at all. It just required a lot of time, but grinding was fun since you could get new characters to try out every 3-5 games
I agree for certain variants there should of been specific ways to unlock them like doing certain backyard challenges or have it like in the og game when leveling up the legendary variants made it 10x worst because of how long it can possibly take
My statements for this series’ games GW1: a classic, and still loved today (10 year streak), but very little to offer and could be better in some parts. GW2: an expansion of the first game in every way, this game is the better game out of them all. this game won’t lose its player base anytime soon. BFN: This game isn’t good or bad, it’s just meh, this game changed almost every thing about the past games but still keeps the PvZ touch, the art style in my opinion is an upgrade to me, and has more story than even GW2 has somehow, this game handled change poorly which lead to its downfall and it’s discontinuation.
The game isn't bad its just not garden warfare for the variants well they're in garden warfare but this isn't garden warfare they're experimenting with there options and people's give popcap hate for trying to branch out
Seriously the game tries to be different is a point of it being bad well news flash GAME COMPANIES CAN EXPERIMENT WITH DIFFERENT COMBINATIONS THEY DON'T HAVE TO BE TIED TO ONE THING
Okay, I feel like removing the variants could’ve worked IF THE UPGRADE SYSTEM WAS MORE ENGAGING. Like, make the variants a potential upgrade that could change up your gameplay! Obviously, they’d have to be mutually exclusive with one another, but being able to play as toxic pea but with different attributes would be so much fun! Adding entirely new upgrades like the legendaries would do a whole lot to the game! I actually would draw an example from Dead by Daylight of all things. Their add on system is pretty well designed, imo, as there are often some more vanilla upgrades that upgrade stats, whereas there are more extravagant upgrades that can often shift the play style of the Killer if used. Something like that would be so cool to add to BFN.
Bro I was playing a turf takeover match and I was playing as imp, I go into my mech and start shooting at the plants. My health bar went from 100% to 0% in a matter of seconds.
Im a huge fan of GW1 or GW2. That is where Neighborville comes in. It gives me a fresh feel of the same IP but it can.t be compared to the previous titles , they are basically two diffrent games that were done diffrently. But i think that is also the reason why i enjoy and love Neighbourville for its own reasons. Its the perfect game that i play from time to time when i get tired of the old PvZ GW games.
its a bit of a shame, i bought early access the second it was out, expecting garden warfare 3, i was so wrong, i still enjoyed it quite a lot, i personally LOVE the artistic design of most things in the game, the skins are all so creative and well, nice looking. Also, i personally prefered the card packs instead of the gacha, but i quite enjoyed the visuals and mechanics of the gacha itself. Anyway, truly a shame that this was the game that killed pvz shooters, i pray for the day we get gw3 or even gw1 remastered
One of my biggest knocks on the game was the maps themselves and the objectives. They didn't feel fluid and I found them to be claustrophobic and not enough time to breathe the scenery of maps themselves. Also the main hub was smaller and had way less stuff to do than GW2. It felt kinda wacky. Lastly, the controls were too stiff and animations didn't sync up well with the abilities the characters had. Something felt way off and I guess it also had to do with the sprint mechanic which definitely felt out of place as well. I do wanna praise the game for the awesome new characters it introduced and the customizations cosmetics wise were better than GW2. Also that other part of the world where you get sent to another map entirely and do a bunch of quests and challenges was pretty cool too.
I remember buying it when it released, played it for 4 days liked the new classes and found out there are no unlockable variants and lost all interest.
Lack of publicity (launched same day as the trailer), removal of core gameplay features (variants), timed gamemodes (gnome bomb, suburbanation, battle arena, ect), and trying to fill a niche already filled would be my guesses
The sad part is this came out on my birthday and when I got it I was super bummed because the consent was good either way the fast paced gameplay but then they ruined it with the game being so clunky
Garden warfare series feels like they wanted to make pvz into a shooter. Battle for neighborville feels like an average shooter that they wanted to turn into pvz
A problem I have with BFN is how greedy it felt. I could just sense the executives forcing their terrible ideas on the developers to make more money in almost all aspects of the game. It really ruined the immersion for me, it didnt feel like there was any passion or creativity behind the different aspects of the game. Plus GW2 is one of the best games ever and they killed it just to release this clunky mess
Problem with the game is that it changed things for the sake of change. The changes was not necessary and they barely updated and put care into it. It didn't build upon garden warfare 2 like gw2 built upon gw1. It should've been so much more but they made the game unbalanced and by the time it could've gotten good they stopped updating it. It could've been like no man's sky but sadly it wasn't. Now it feels like they've abandoned ship on pvz after bfn and the other failed projects.
I so desperately want a Garden Warfare 3 but also dont wanna see what that would look like in today modern gaming climate in terms of micro transaction. Whem BFN first launched i enjoyed it a lot but as soon as the first battle pass dropped so did my interest for the game.
I enjoyed Neighbrville but not as much as Garden Warfare 1 & 2. I liked the new classes in Neighboorville a lot. What killed the game for me was the battle pass, locked character and your able to buy to progress, I hate that in every game. Garden Warfare 2 had only the in game currency to buy and I ignored it since I wanted to play for coins. It was rushed EA trash and half backed. I hope they make GW3 but only if they keep it like GW1&2
I personally think that the character movement changes and addition of sprint was not good for the game. It made the game feel very weird. The character designs are totally fine but the maps felt very flat. While in GW1 maps had a lot of different heights GW2 was set on a more open base. Bfn however felt like a short range flat surface. Sniping was no fun due to weird and fast movement and bad map design. They changed basically everthing of the characters. Chomper got a sniper shot, Engineer got bouncing shots...The Addition of too many characters is also not the best idea. I would actually prefer if the Tree and Brainz were not in GW2 (Already have a tank and short range character for zombies, Tree feels way too big). BFN however added these weird 4 player characters and even more characters which made the game very chaotic. This is also the reason why i felt like it was not competitive at all. The idea of the oak was great, just like imps mech. The Shroom was also very annoying, invisiblility and small in combination with the sprint made it hard to hit it. My ideas for a GW3 would be based on Variants again. I would actually remove the cosmetics in the shop. When leveling up a characater it gets a bonus (like more health) and slowly changes its visual appearance automatically with every level. The Fire Pea for example would get glowy eyes - burning leafs - and at the end would like a burning-rock-lava-pea. At the same time i would add the acorn+tree ability (not as a 4 player character and also change the abilitys), remove the old tree, remove super Brainz, add different Shroom (more like the goat - with the hypno beam ability of the hypno shrooms and speed ability of the goat, shots also like the goat). The Citron changes in Bfn were good for examole the bigger shield and remove of speed ball ability.
If I ever win the lotto. I investing a bring this game up to date. Work with fans and make the perfect version. One of the best co op couch games and fun games in general.
So as someone who grew up playing PvZ GW1 and 2 BFN has a lot of problems and I’m not going in order I’m just saying all my problems number one is the no sticker packs, sticker pack when I was younger was like a holy mystery in GW1 and in GW2 it was a good way of getting a bunch of minions characters or cosmetics now you pay a hefty price for just 1 Item that’s usually not what you want, I also hate quests in this game they are overly complex and the way to redeem them is complicated and it’s definitely a way to grind in more time instead of just getting payed stars or coins like in gw2 and obviously no variants makes the game boring there’s no real good stuff to grind for as you already do have the base characters and those are easily boring after some time and most newer abilities are really boring or hardly do anything, also I hate the new changes to characters such as dead beard anchor launch it’s a waste of a slot, and since I don’t wanna be here all day the maps are kinda boring most are just a shape with decor there’s no unique flow or randomness to it like jewel junction one side had a bunch of buildings the other side was more bare and had upper and lower sections. With the train in the middle.
I feel like they removed variants because they couldn’t think of any variants for the new heroes, however, following this logic, they could’ve unscrapped the Grave Digger class for Zombies! Another problem I have with bfn is about Iceberg Lettuce. I’m not saying Iceberg Lettuce was a pointless concept, rather the opposite, Iceberg Lettuce is one of my favourite plants and bfn’s interpretation of it was great to say the least, but I’m just indignant that they had to scrap it. Sniper mains too, fuck you deadbeard.
They couldn’t make the nth fire/ice/toxic/electric recolor? They couldn’t create maybe even a new element like water/light/etc that couldve also worked as variant filler? I think what screwed them over was in part needing to convert 120+ characters into the new artstyle and with how rushed the game felt + the characters they were adding I’m sure that’s probably the last thing they wanted to do in the end
i'd argue the gameplay of bfn is objectively superior (conceptually) to gw1 and 2 with the addition of everyone can sprint and the geometry of the map. it really was just the variants that killed it
Claiming that BfN gameplay was “objectively superior” to the infinitely more successful, infinitely more beloved games that predate it is hilarious. And incredibly stupid.
Ngl I enjoyed this game. It does sucks that it doesn’t have variants of different plants it does suck but I do enjoy this game a lot. I wish GW2 had running like this current game play. Overall I can agree but I can’t hate on this game because I like playing it lol
bfn literally died because it followed gw hype, if it came first or even wasnt connected to pvz it would've preformed better (regardless of the awful communitys in all 3 games). Also releasing a game the day after a leak about it comes out is wild, they let out a Beta copy passed off as "founders" leading to bugs and glitches killing off the playerbase
If pvzgf never was a game and this came out ok it’s consider not bad. But the fact the first one has 10x more content and just feels great just makes this version an absolute joke. I’m sorry if people only had experience with bfn and actually never had the full experience of the previous entry’s because it’s truly depressing seeing how much fun I had in the previous years for the others and only spent half an hour realizing how terrible of a game they made this one just reminds me of why I hate this one so much. I also preferred the card packs, felt cool and knowing that I would expect a topic of what i purchased compared to pure random was very nice.
I was a little disappointed with gw2 because I like the acorn I wish they would just combine and gw2 is very competitive the team in turf usually gets swept and everyone picks sunflowers or the zombie scientist and it’s so annoying
I platinum the game after a year and uninstall it. There’s no reason to play it after you basically get everything that’s free in the game. It just ends. Unlike GW2.
Could be just me but I hate the art style as well, pvz has always been goofy but not like in bfn. Whenever a character runs it takes me out of this that this is too much for kids. It also makes the movement feel in-precise compared to gw. Also even though it was uncommon for new characters to be added in the gw games, they still did while from what I can tell they only add 3, and two of them are straight up reused npcs.
The main reason it died out was one, no varients two,no updates three, horribly remaked characters, they could have just put everyone in a new map,a few new characters maybe a new varient type and nothing else and it would have been amazing lol

Reason is very simple; it didn't have a Bill Nye the Science Guy advert unlike GW2.

One thing I didn’t like was for Turf takeover the graveyard and garden animation was removed I also didn’t really like the payload parts either the second thing I didn’t like was sprinting as the games before where fine without sprinting and sprinting just didn’t feel right and the one thing that made me highly upset in Turf Takeover is that they removed the teleporters as to me building a teleporter felt so great as it was like having an upper hand and it was great having as if you died you could use the teleporter to jump back into the action fast
Amazing vid, but you forgot reason number 8 - Lack of Hover-Goat 3000
(Seriously, how do you top that character design? It is peak.)
I really wish they'd give it another go and give us GW3.
gw2 is the best game of the three imo, apart from some minor things its just a direct expansion to gw1 that has even more detail and nuance to it
One thing that came to my mind this year was about a Garden Warfare Remastered. I have a few reasons for that:
1. GW1 was the most successful and loved PvZ console game
2. It turned 10 years old this year
3. They relisted the game in the online store on PC
4. The game still gets new player (I still play it daily and there are always so many low rank players)
5. EA likes to resell old loved games again. They also did that with Need For Speed and Burnout
Lemme know your opinion about that. Maybe this could even be a video idea to talk about
It aint delisted its still here
Gw1 definitely needs a remaster since popcap won't update that game ever again, but if they change the visuals to how gw2 looks then im not playing it
@@Fremek That's why i said it got relisted. It was gone for some years.
@@The_spikey_justice33A remaster would look like GW1. Otherwise it would be a remake
@@Milan0807 honestly, l doubt popcap would stick with the more grim and real life style gw1 has, popcap went on a very cartoony route and as far as we can tell they won't change it
bfn was my 1st pvz shooter and i really enjoy it, until i got gw2 and enjoy it even more but bfn has some neat stuff like: pve maps, elite bosses and characters. but yea the game can out of nowhere and feels unfinish
you forgot to mention how overly riddled with MTX the game had and it was a tedious grind to unlock stuff
meanwhile the Switch release rectified that, and when I bought it for cheap on sale, I tried it out and was surprised to learn there was no mtx at all
I've been playing BFN a little bit recently and it is actually a fun game, but it's definitely the worse game out of the third person shooters by FAR
the biggest reason is actually a bad launch
Def sounds like skill issue, just play the zombie counterpart
Bro, oak is a fucking pushover with the right upgrades. Mow him down with the foot soldier rapid Fire upgrade. Electric slide can kill an oak easily.
@@alexmendez7460Your exactly right.
@@fredbearbutters5609 just face acorn for 2 seconds and you immediately won the trade
@@alexmendez7460 Yea.
Remember the plants versus zombies garden warfare, two popular made me start replaying it
1:46 likey bc they didn't have much resources in remaking over 100 variants a lot of them being copy paste of reg , likey the same reason the game cut off or reused lot of music and stuff.
I would hate to lose my 1v1 just because they had a better variant then me I’m glad they removed that system cosmetics was the way to go
You gonna get trashed by the gw2 kid
This.
nah this is a bad take. paying didnt even get you very far since there were so many characters so apart from a few high value bundles it wasnt pay to win at all. It just required a lot of time, but grinding was fun since you could get new characters to try out every 3-5 games
I agree for certain variants there should of been specific ways to unlock them like doing certain backyard challenges or have it like in the og game when leveling up the legendary variants made it 10x worst because of how long it can possibly take
I really liked Bfn, not saying the others arent great gw2 is one of my most played games but i really liked this one i just wish more played it
Noah on the video essay grind
3:41 BRO, I play this game a lot and I saw that person yesterday! 😂😂
This game gets hate too much 😂 I still LOVE it and spent way too much money on it. ($450+) (I own everything in Rux 😬)
You should of got it on switch you would have saved a lot money since that version removed the microtransactions
@@mjr0947 I also own that game too, it’s fun to grind.
If you remove contents from a sequel then it’s guarantee to fail. Let alone removing 90% of the stuff
My statements for this series’ games
GW1: a classic, and still loved today (10 year streak), but very little to offer and could be better in some parts.
*removes almost everything that made GW unique*
EA: Why did BFN underperform? Cancel all the content!
Z-mech in GW2: hahha missile and blaster goo brr. Z-mech in BFN: MONKE MODE ACTVIED
Was hoping you'd make a video like this!!!
I remember seeing leaks for the game about half a year before the game was even revealed, but I didn’t know that until it was revealed 💀
Bro I was playing a turf takeover match and I was playing as imp, I go into my mech and start shooting at the plants. My health bar went from 100% to 0% in a matter of seconds.
Sounds like skill issue
@@abdullahabbas0777womp womp 😁
I still like bfn and I still play it too
Im a huge fan of GW1 or GW2.
If it's alright with you would you be able to share your average retention on your garden warfare 2 video it would help me out a lot👍👍👍👽👽👽
Bfn to me feels like they took gw2 and tried to turn it into an overwatch clone
its a bit of a shame, i bought early access the second it was out, expecting garden warfare 3, i was so wrong, i still enjoyed it quite a lot, i personally LOVE the artistic design of most things in the game, the skins are all so creative and well, nice looking.
As a bfn enjoyer I like bfn.
I played this for a while with my friends.
I loved the Snapdragon!
But winning felt useless when playing alone...
I feel like they tried to improve some areas in bfn making it more balanced(except for brain basher super brainz :
I see it as a PvZ shooter and it still has unused content iceberg lettuce a new zombie type as well
I am a Bfn player i will check it out!
Btw choper class in gw2 gone
And my main e pea gone to😢😢😢
AND toxic brainz gone😢😢😢
IN PC😢😢😢
I remember buying it when it released, played it for 4 days liked the new classes and found out there are no unlockable variants and lost all interest.
Another reason to battle for neighborville's flop could be also the loss of originality, they literally turned into overwatch but pvz
keep making videos like these and you'll have 30k in no time
Lack of publicity (launched same day as the trailer), removal of core gameplay features (variants), timed gamemodes (gnome bomb, suburbanation, battle arena, ect), and trying to fill a niche already filled would be my guesses
the game was rushed together in probably less than a year i remember hearing they had a game scrapped in late 2018
Go watch lt dark ring documentary on this he has more detail into the failure of bfn
The sad part is this came out on my birthday and when I got it I was super bummed because the consent was good either way the fast paced gameplay but then they ruined it with the game being so clunky
"Wow, i cant wait to see the new variants, revamped maps, and the new classes with their unique variants!"
That. Thats why.
Garden warfare series feels like they wanted to make pvz into a shooter. Battle for neighborville feels like an average shooter that they wanted to turn into pvz
They really just needed more characters to fill the gaps of variants on each team. Simply made the wrong choice with releasing it in the state it was.
Maybe if there was more then 1 week worth of content it would still be here today.
The best part of this games are the cosmetics becuse they looks kinda cool
Unjustified changes is what is ruining pvz
If I ever win the lotto. I investing a bring this game up to date. Work with fans and make the perfect version. One of the best co op couch games and fun games in general.
I love your content so much❤❤❤
So as someone who grew up playing PvZ GW1 and 2 BFN has a lot of problems and I’m not going in order I’m just saying all my problems number one is the no sticker packs, sticker pack when I was younger was like a holy mystery in GW1 and in GW2 it was a good way of getting a bunch of minions characters or cosmetics now you pay a hefty price for just 1 Item that’s usually not what you want, I also hate quests in this game they are overly complex and the way to redeem them is complicated and it’s definitely a way to grind in more time instead of just getting payed stars or coins like in gw2 and obviously no variants makes the game boring there’s no real good stuff to grind for as you already do have the base characters and those are easily boring after some time and most newer abilities are really boring or hardly do anything, also I hate the new changes to characters such as dead beard anchor launch it’s a waste of a slot, and since I don’t wanna be here all day the maps are kinda boring most are just a shape with decor there’s no unique flow or randomness to it like jewel junction one side had a bunch of buildings the other side was more bare and had upper and lower sections.
I think what screwed them over was in part needing to convert 120+ characters into the new artstyle and with how rushed the game felt + the characters they were adding I’m sure that’s probably the last thing they wanted to do in the end
bfn was good for a couple matches. too bad they forgot to add any variety in characters
i'd argue the gameplay of bfn is objectively superior (conceptually) to gw1 and 2 with the addition of everyone can sprint and the geometry of the map. it really was just the variants that killed it
People hated sprinting dawg
@@madmonty4761 I thought it was the best feature of the game tbh. not having to crawl if you aren't pea or engi was great

I’m sorry if people only had experience with bfn and actually never had the full experience of the previous entry’s because it’s truly depressing seeing how much fun I had in the previous years for the others and
only spent half an hour realizing how terrible of a game they made this one just reminds me of why I hate this one so much.
I was in your game for your first match I was the electro slide
I used to play it and now I’m just chilling on forza
The main reasoned it fail was coz it was just a quick cash grab
The devs quite litteraly said this game is supposed to be its on thing not an exstention of the others
I platinum the game after a year and uninstall it. There’s no reason to play it after you basically get everything that’s free in the game. It just ends.
Unlike GW2.
Strangely, i enjoy BFN and so does my brother
The reason why all the zombies look weird I made them get plastic surgery
Could be just me but I hate the art style as well, pvz has always been goofy but not like in bfn. Whenever a character runs it takes me out of this that this is too much for kids. It also makes the movement feel in-precise compared to gw. Also even though it was uncommon for new characters to be added in the gw games, they still did while from what I can tell they only add 3, and two of them are straight up reused npcs.
I still apologize to my friend for making him buy this game to play it with me at launch
I played bfn before gw2 so i love bfn way more than gw2, and adapted to bfn’s style more than gw2, hence why i love bfn and dislike gw2.
Even if you support bfn you can’t deny it was financial failure for popcap Vancouver
