    1. Read all the words, carefully and thoroughly.
    2. Respect the scientific method
    3. Understand that light-year is a measurement of distance, not time.

    Step 1: Understand how the world works.
    Step 2: Arrogantly come up with a subjective paradigm, but call it objective.
    Step 3: Maintain the delusion that you're always correct.

      @@MorganBallardWheeler Intellectuals do understand the world, they just can't get beyond a subjective vantage point because intelligence can make you too proud to even consider the possibility that you might be wrong about the big picture. They think their perspective is objective, but it's not because they're the ones creating it. I fall prey to this regularly, have to constantly question my own perception in order to remain truly objective.

    I am an intellectual, the value of my IQ is so high that just 1 attempt to store that value crashed the entire internet, and fried every server known to man.

    Well I'm an Intellectual and I was not made an Intellectual but born, I would say some traits of an Intellectual are: 1- just really quick in solving problems 2- less emotional 3- courageous 4- careless in a good way etc.
    Misconceptions: 1- we are always reading books 2- we live in school 3- we talk and behave like this guy in video 4- we are not people.

      You're right. Becoming an intellectual proper involves collaborating and sharing questions and ideas with other voracious readers. Try emailing professors at universities with questions related to their field; I've gotten insightful responses!

    recommend me some books

    • @MorganBallardWheeler
      @MorganBallardWheeler  7 років тому +3

      To start, read The Iliad by Homer (translated by Robert Fagles). One of my favorites is Nicomachean Ethics by Aristotle. If you're looking for something more modern, try Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf. Lastly, read King Lear, Macbeth, The Tempest, and Hamlet by Shakespeare (be sure to have a dictionary handy!). Hope that helps!

      Hello Mr. Garcia, a book I recently enjoyed is Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind by Shunryu Suzuki. As referenced in the video, read Chekov's plays, like Uncle Vanya or The Cherry Orchard, as well as The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde (and go to performances of the plays!). Also read books by Jane Austen such as Pride and Prejudice or Mansfield Park. Here's an interesting article about why her writing has lasted the test of time: www.nytimes.com/2017/07/06/upshot/the-word-choices-that-explain-why-jane-austen-endures.html

      Morgan's Monologues and Music So you recommend books such as Iliad, Hamlet, or Chekov's plays. I just don't understand why. Elaboration: I don't understand, what I am supposed to be getting from those books, or what I am supposed to mentally take away from them.

    • @MorganBallardWheeler
      @MorganBallardWheeler  7 років тому +4

      carlton sorrells That is an excellent question. A simple answer is that these books contain advanced vocabularies and complex sentence structures. If you study these aspects of the books I recommend, you will acquire a greater facility to express yourself: how you feel, what you think, why you believe what you believe, etc. Also, these books are a testament to the annals of human experience regarding every emotion from divine jubilation to despondent suffering. A better authority than me for your question is Harold Bloom, who has written numerous books on what you are asking. I highly recommend his book "How to Read and Why."
