I studied social science for five years at two universities in Europe. This denigrating of men (particularly white men) was quite common at these universities.
I have found much sociology literature to be a bit of an anti white male, anti capitalist, echo chamber. Any idea that threatens these accepted dogmas of sociology is typically denigrated. (Indeed, this is part of the reason why I decided it would be impossible for me to complete a PhD in sociology - I never agreed with their dogmas).
It's a shame really. Sociology raises interesting questions and there are some good sociologists who inquire into these questions properly - considering all the evidence. For sociology to change it needs to be accepting of a diversity of view points - which is ironic given its preoccupation with equality and diversity.

Is it the denigration of men (particularly white men) or the attitudes and behaviors that make up social systems?

@@FocalPointElisa Hi. I could read your question a couple of ways. Could you just clarify the question a bit more. Thanks :)

Women express their feelings more because people are care about want women feel. No one cares what men or boys feels- they'd be really stupid to express their feelings.

People care about what men or boys feels, but in a negative way.
If you as man shows any king of weakness you will be severely penalize, ridiculed or exploited.
If women see you as weak man you will never get laid.

Expressing feelings is like most other things in life. They do not have a uniform purpose, but rather a spectrum of purposes. Included in the spectrum of purposes for emphasising ones feelings is the desire for attention and admiration, or attention and sympathy. When we take account of an exaggerated female desire for those things then it becomes entirely predictable that women will exhibit 'feelings' with greater emphasis and frequency than men. Nor should it be assumed that an exaggerated desire for attention, admiration and sympathy are indications of empathy or altruism, because in socialised groups these things form the currency of sentiment. And the manipulation of sentiment is the key that opens many doors.

Who says women are better than men?! What's the point in trying to find generalized patterns of behavior for groups of people? There will always be a large enough number of individuals who don't conform, thereby making such findings useless.

Averages still exist and certain behaviours ON AVERAGE are intrinsic to certain groups and there's nothing wrong with researching into them

To what end? We live in a world where all it does is empower bigotry and discrimination.

So we should hide facts just because we fear how people would react?

The short answer to that is "Maybe. Sometimes." I can easily think of scenarios - real and imagined - where it's best certain facts not be widely known. Other than that there's a video on UA-cam of Neil de Grasse Tyson addressing the issue of the under-representation of women and black people in science and the role of discrimination vs genetics. He said there are obstacles that keep women and black people out of science - discrimination, social attitudes - and we should put our focus on removing those, then we can talk about other possible factors. My view is that we can't do both at the same time because the genetics line of inquiry harms efforts to fight discrimination.

How does discrimination equate with generalized patterns of behavior among specific groups? I'm not saying only certain groups discriminate. It may be that's what you hear. Which is the problem. White men tend to take any talk of discrimination as an attack on them.
