  • In his new book "The Ukraine War and the Eurasian World Order", Professor Glenn Diesen argues compellingly that the way the world used to work not only for the past century, but for the past 500 years is over and done with. From here on, the global system will be much more dynamic, multi-polar, and much more complex. Professor Diesen also shows how Ukraine has been a pawn in the hands of NATO warmongers who despite their best efforts, however, have not been able to break even one of their strategic rivals in the system. The time of Western impunity is ending. The question is, what comes next?

Glenn Diesen is a professor at the University of Southeast Norway and an associate editor at the Journal “Russia in Global Affairs”. Many of you certainly know him from this work with the UA-cam Channel “The Duran”, where he has been conducting numerous wonderful interviews alongside Alexander Mercouris.

In short, it is obvious that people in Europe lost any political awareness and real interest just seeing rise of fake parties like “greens” and level of knowledge among European top politicians, it’s shameful, though when I look at it from neutral point of view what ever we get from that at the end it is what people deserve since it was allowed to happen

50 years ago I started my career in Engineering. One of the first things I was taught about complex systems is that they become dysfunctional in the absence of the truth. This is very easy to see with a complex system like an Airliner or Nuclear power station. Knowing the truth about the vulnerabilities of all components of the system is critical to avoiding catastrophic failure. Over that 50 years I have formed the view that this principal also applies the more abstract systems like Political Systems. At the same time I've seen western political systems evolve to the extent that any commitment to recognising and respecting the truth has completely disappeared and the central features of western politics have become dishonesty, hypocrisy and double standards. The west IS doomed as a result.

@stwadoo Your principle indeed applies to a political system such as democracy. This has been elaborated by the philosopher Jürgen Habermas. He distinguishes two types of action,
      a) 'communicative action', in which the values reason and truth are upheld, aimed at consensus,
      b) 'strategic action', aimed at achieving goals, to which reason and truth are subordinated.
When strategic action overrides communicative action, a democracy will collapse.
"Theory of communicative action" is Habermas' main book on this. A large part of it is taken up by defending the position that people are capable of such communicative action at all.

Brzezinski admits in his 2004 book the Choice in chapter 5 that Democratic Rhetoric is used to camouflage the Hegemony.
He admits in his 1997 book that America is too democratic at home to be autocratic abroad and that the "pursuit of power" does not motivate the common people.
All there admitted to in non classified books.
Democracy spreading and Humanitarian aid are just things to tell the masses to get them to go along with what they really don't ant and doesn't benefit them.
The Humanitarian angle has become quite clear with Gaza these last few months. And it should have been clear with Rwanda in 1990s.
The focus on Yugoslavia Humanitarian crisis to justify NATO bombing ignored ethnic cleaning by non Serbia Yugoslavia states to focus on Serbia. Thus the Humanitarian angle was used to hide a Grand Chessboard geopolitics power move.

Any country that has Democratic in its title is not democratic in any way. Those that claim we have democracy is lying too, because they operate so called representative democracy where all the MP's are usually from 2 main parties, given full media coverage, severely limiting air time to alternatives, where each prospective candidate is carefully selected by a very small clique, before any voter puts their mark on a ballot paper.
True democracy is where plebiscites are held on a broad spectrum of important national issues that effect them and each man and woman has one vote, like in Switzerland.

Your analysis is excellent. Each country has problems and none is perfect, some much worse than others. The truth needs to be known to everyone, analyzed, explained and understood for the benefit or detriment of all, not merely for US and western interests. This should begin with education in schools. The history of colonization, slavery, exploitation and hegemony and it's current iterations should be explained. Countries should not opt for a military option and should be open to a rational discourse. The criminal wastage of resources on weapons should instead be replaced by the benefits of spending those funds for raising the standard of living, health care, housing, food, education, climate change... rather than on things which go up in smoke. There are consequences and one has to be aware of the eventual day of reckoning which none can escape.

You are crazy. We had a relatively peaceful word order, over the last 7 decades, and I see no reason why we should profoundly change this. We still have wars, but at least there was no WW3. Most people live more peaceful, then in previous decades and centuries. We still have rich and poor countries. Starvation is not totally eliminated, but we came a long way. In the 80's there were 4 billion people on the planet, and half of them, or 2 billion, didn't have enough to eat. Today there are 7 billion, and (unfortunately) 0.5 billion, or 7% are still in starvation. We went from 50% starvation, down to 7%. While we still have rich and poor, the situation has massively improved, thanks to western world order and free markets. There is still work to do, but you probably wouldn't have a better future, when you profoundly change direction now. Better we recognize the positive development, that has been achieved, and continue to improve humanity, and avoid new social experiments.

    At 22:45
The US crushing an ally like Japan, which was too successful, is nothing new.
After WW2 it crushed the British Empire, using economic warfare.
    Quote...
"What actually occurred was that Britain and other countries became hopelessly indebted to the United States once again (edit: during World War 2) ... *“We have profited by our past mistakes,” announced Roosevelt in a speech delivered on September 3, 1942. “This time we shall know how to make full use of victory.” This time the U.S. Government would conquer its allies in a more enlightened manner, by demanding economic concessions of a legal and political nature instead of futilely seeking repayment of its wartime loans (of World War 1).* The new postwar strategy sought and secured foreign markets for U.S. exports, and new fields for American investment capital in Europe’s raw materials producing colonial areas. Despite Roosevelt’s assurances to the contrary, Britain was compelled, under the Lend-Lease agreements and the terms of the first great U.S. postwar loan to Britain, to relinquish Empire Preference and to open all its markets to U.S. competition, at a time when Britain desperately needed these markets as a means by which to fund its sterling debt. Most important of all, Britain was forced to unblock its sterling and foreign-exchange balances built up by its colonies and other Sterling Area countries during the wartime years. Instead of the Allied Powers as a whole bearing the costs of these wartime credits to British Empire countries, they would be borne by Britain itself. Equally important, they would not be used as “blocked” balances that could be used only to buy British or other Sterling Area exports, but would be freed to purchase exports from any nation. Under postwar conditions this meant that they would be used in large part to purchase U.S. exports." (page 115/116)
"By relinquishing its right to block these balances, Britain gave up its option, while enabling the United States to make full use of its gold stock as the basis for postwar lending to purchased generalized (primarily U.S.) exports. *At a stroke, Britain’s economic power was broken. What Germany as foe had been unable to accomplish in two wars against Britain, the United States accomplished with ease as its ally."* (Page 117)
"Furthermore, under the terms on which it joined the International Monetary Fund, Britain could not devalue the pound sterling so as to dissipate the foreign-exchange value of these balances. Its liability thus was maximized - and so was America’s gain from the pool of liquidity that these balances now represented." ("Super Imperialism: The Economic Strategy of American Empire." -- Michael Hudson, 2nd edition 2003)
In case that seems a bit technical, here is the "nutshell version": Just like the bank takes your house if you don't pay up in the real world, the British Empire was run into the ground by the "best friends" USA, who stole the Empire's markets; hidden behind a whole lot of "technical jargon", thereby taking the means London had to pay its debts. A suitable micro level example would be the bank having an eye on your house, then making sure you get fired so you can't pay your debt. On the macro level the term is "debt trap diplomacy", and on the (privatized) propaganda level the means is "projection: accuse somebody else of being something which one is oneself", and that "being" has started waaaaaay earlier as a matter of own policy. A "debt trap" the Allies walked into after 1916, after they had spent all their own money, and squeezed as much out of their colonies as they could get away with, but refused to come to terms at the negotiating table: another factor usually associated with the Central Powers.
    -----------------------------------
"At the end of the war [WW2], Britain, physically devastated and financially bankrupt, lacked factories to produce goods for rebuilding, the materials to rebuild the factories or purchase the machines to fill them, or with the money to pay for any of it. Britain’s situation was so dire, the government sent the economist John Maynard Keynes with a delegation to the US to beg for financial assistance, claiming that Britain was facing a "financial Dunkirk”. The Americans were willing to do so, on one condition: They would supply Britain with the financing, goods and materials to rebuild itself, but dictated that Britain must first eliminate those Sterling Balances by repudiating all its debts to its colonies. The alternative was to receive neither assistance nor credit from the US. *Britain, impoverished and in debt, with no natural resources and no credit or ability to pay, had little choice but to capitulate. And of course with all receivables cancelled and since the US could produce today, those colonial nations had no further reason for refusing manufactured goods from the US. The strategy was successful. By the time Britain rebuilt itself, the US had more or less captured all of Britain’s former colonial markets, and for some time after the war’s end the US was manufacturing more than 50% of everything produced in the world. And that was the end of the British Empire, and the beginning of the last stage of America’s rise."*

      @@MargaretKlassen *It's "divide and rule."*
      Yes, you are correct.
Empires don't make "friends," they make useful alliances for their own gain.
Read Washington chief strategist Brzinzki's "grand plan", or the British Empire's Mackinder/Pivot of History before that (1904). The aim was always to drive a rift between Europeans, *to avoid greater European/Eurasian (geographically incl. the ME)* co-operation and trade. Once that has been achieved, keep all the little minions "down," and grow off their weaknesses in the zero-sum reality of the temporary status quo. Note that resources cannot be produced with the snap of a finger. Creating new resources, are long-term effects of strategies, steered by the same powers. It is the CONTROL these control freaks want and steer towards, using their geographical advantage.
With re. to how tools to implement the strategy are used: Robert Dickson Crane served as foreign policy advisor to President Richard Nixon from 1963 to 1968: "At that time I had read a little about Islam, because I thought Islam would be the strongest and most durable ally of the United States against Communism. Because both of us, Nixon and I, saw Communism as a world threat ..."
Note how they openly admit how they use "tools" (strategy) to "steer" (plan) against others, when it is useful to themselves.
Note also how *your* "enemies today," as a collective (Islam) were the systemic "good guys" in a different past. They were the "good guys" because they (Muslims as a collective) were useful at the time, as Kissinger implemented, to goad the SU into invading Afghanistan, where they could then be "combated by proxy" similar to the Ukraine post-2022 and today.
Today as we watch on, the Ukraine is being burnt to the "last Ukrainian soldier" accompanied by cheers of "...but, but, but they had a choice!!"
Poland will be next to be given a "choice," if the Ukraine fails as US/Western proxy and tool, in a long list of previous examples of the Washington DC/Pentagon-steered global strategy.

To avoid additional humiliation for Russia, NATO proxy Ukrainians retreated from Avdeyevka as they became tired of the Russian loss. The Ukrainians claim to have destroyed 400 armored vehicles and tanks and killed 50,000 Russians before retreating. NATO's fake front shows that its stance is a lie. The Ukraine war exposes their bogus viewpoint.
The Ukrainian counteroffensive's failure demonstrates a failed Western strategy. Russia routinely humiliated the US and NATO forces using shovels, old washing machine chips, and corroded weaponry. Russia has outperformed the combined NATO and US surrogate forces. NATO's fabricated façade reveals its contrived position.
A peculiar feeling of pride existed among Westerners before the outbreak of war. Nobody can name a single instance in which the US-led NATO was successful, whether in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, or Syria. The Ukraine war strips them bare in their artificial, fake stance and reveals their false standing. Ukraine exposes their forced posturing as naked, stripping them bare in their artificial position.
The Russian army has grown in strength, equipment, experience, and capability to confront any force on the globe. Russia has surpassed the combined proxy forces of the United States and NATO in all tactical domains. Russian combat strategies and technologies are distinctly unique and particularly effective against their modern weapons and weapon systems.
Despite the West receiving billions of dollars in investment and utilizing cutting-edge equipment, the Ukraine war exposes NATO's forced pretense, artificial stance, and deceptive standing.

According to the 1992 "National Defense Planning Guidelines" prepared by the US neoconservative Wolfowitz, the United States "will not allow Europe to build its own security system in order to maintain US influence and dominance ". It also points out that it will not allow U.S. asian allies, especially Japan, to assume a larger regional role. So I think Japan and Germany are in a similar situation.

Step One, understand the definition of DEMOCRACY!
*Democracy: A system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state*
That last part is KEY! *Almost every country is a democracy, they may, just like us, limit who can vote!*
Nothing to do with rights at all! Also, Democracy doesn't need saving, people need to grow up!

French and German economies are tanking, heading for a likely recession.
Who woulda guessed that cutting yourself off from reliable and affordable sources of energy, could backfire and hit the own people 😮

that is also part of how global economy works and very strict budget mentality of germany may not work best, especially as we dont base money to anything but promises. havuing money can be dangerous illusion that can just buy everything from somewhere else as needed, right time.

Well they thought the USA would provide LNG at slightly above costs. To nobody surprise but the European leaders, they made record profits. The corporations needed to recoup the lost revenues from pandemic and they succeeded

Thank you Glenn and Pascal! Living in Europe, I would of course prefer seeing the European countries getting out of the EU (which has always been a puppet of the American order from the start) and fulfilling their role as the European part of the Eurasian continent, economically connecting in synergy with their neighbors and beyond. And not that of the new US 'backyard'... or is it sh***hole?

Brigitte L Jones. Fear of the consequences keeps a lot of people who have good professional jobs tied to Western governments quiet. Even being careful to be asking retired family members with alternative views to restrain themselves, " Tell in private conversations, avoid sharing such materials in public or emails to me, as association is even a risk to my job." It is hard to tell how many people remain closed minded or hyper careful.

I wonder if any European has an idea of what colonialism was around the world. Racism and genocide. Decades if not centuries of deprecation and not considering the other. With different pressure in different times, but it was so. Neocolonialism is not better, always patting on the shoulder what would you do without us? And travelling around you get always the impressions we whites are better. How can the world sympatize with Western unipolar policy, they had more than enough

I have a question for you. You have said in this video (around 45:10) and elsewhere the following, "Politics is the art of shaping the current 6 week." Is this something you have said yourself, and if so, where did you first say / write that? It truly is a profound statement. I ask so as to wanting to provide proper attribution to you.
And the fact of shaping the narrative by repeating it numerous times that it shapes reality (as you noted, just before the quoted statement).
    Thank you!
