You are one of the most authentic UA-cam travel bloggers Sly. Big up yourself and I hope you enjoy Guyana. Nice to see you interacting with locals 🇬🇾🇬🇾
I saw someone said that he shouldn't talk about slavery. I am Afro Guyanese and I am not ashamed of my history. The enslavers are the ones who should be ashamed. Those who forget their history are likely to repeat it. Indians celebrate Indian arrival day, I would never tell them to forget where they came from.
i am from guyana and though that country need so much cleaning up, i don't love any other place more . i am sitting here in schenectady Ny . love the vid.
Hi Sly, this is an interesting video. I grew up in the sixties and early seventies about 3-4 miles from there and never visited Victoria village. This village is of great historical significance to our Afro Guyanese brothers and sisters.
Thank you for showing the beautiful people, places, food and most of all respecting the people…..some UA-camrs only like the show the worst of Guyana and other black countries, I visit 🇬🇾every summer and I am proud of my motherland. Please hurry back to Guyana 🇬🇾🤣🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾🤎🤎🤎 new follower🙌🏾
I am from Victoria Village but living in New York I was really happy to see a vlogger going to the first village. That pink shop is the Luke's and the wash bay is owned by Owen McCurius. That building used to be Greco back in the days with many workers. My grandfather Ralph Moore name is on the monument in the community Center yard he was the village councilor before I was born. You should have walked forth where most of the villagers live and it's the fun side too, you would have gotten more knowledge of the village.

You should have seen it 10 years plus back. This new government is doing wonders now with oil money. Something the previous government never did. But as a Guyanese myself, I can say that SOME Guyanese are absolutely nasty. They throw their garbage around, in the trench causing blockage and just don’t care for the environment. Whenever I visited Guyana it breaks my heart to see the dismal effects in Georgetown.
@@razeka62 You can find such things in Europe as well! Especially young people throw plastic waste around, because they are too "cool" to throw it in the can and older people in rural areas which throw bigger waste in nature. In the cities there is a good cleaning service, so it looks a lot cleaner. In less developed countries there is not enough money to pay cleaning services to clean entire urban areas. I think that education system in the schools doesn't do enough to educate people about real life stuff.

We eat curry and roti with our hands. We are a diverse people. You said roti correctly. I am just confused about you talking about slavery, the gentleman told you it was the best place to be. Guyanese people are happy people. We live in the present. Slavery happened way before most of our great grandparents were even born. You have to understand that slavery was abolished in the entire west Indies, (Guyana, Barbados , Trinidad, Jamaica, and others) back in 1834, 31 years before it was in the US. ❤🇬🇾.

Next year, Guyana is going to surpass Switzerland and Norway in terms of GDP per capita PPP, meaning average guyanian is going to have more purchasing power than a switz, but it doesn't look like anything is much different. I search videos each year to see how everything changes, but yeah, barely any improvement.
