  • Running a phaser before a stereo delay is probably more conventional, but what would it sound like to run a time-based effect, like tape delay, into a phaser? Well, it sounds like this, and it's all in full stereo.

    Seriously, you guys are geniuses. The interface is so well thought out. I’ve never seen what initially may look like a complex pedal put so much thought in to simplifying its interface that it no longer feels like a complexity barrier.

      This^ I had the microcosm for a bit but sold it because I found it too difficult to recreate a sound I had come across. This is much more straight forward. I honestly think they should re-do their pedals to all have this layout.

    Got mine here in Brussel,Belgium. The UI is fantastic and the connectivity is top notch. It is a great palette to create your own sounds and presets. I mean, this is a pedal with presets slots that does not come with any presets ! A box with a lot of bonuses; the pedal even reponds with colourful visual feedback to your inputs / interaction with it !

    You took a lot of concepts and functions and put them into a ridiculously easy to use UI. Right out of the box you’re cooking even before you mess with effects order, looping, etc. I’m VERY impressed. You take that same a approach with more smaller affordable pedals you’ll absolutely crush it from the high end gear needs to newbies. This is such a great design.

    is it possible to turn each effect on and off individually via midi? midi controller? Thank you

    • @BlasphemousButler
      @BlasphemousButler 6 місяців тому

      Yes. It uses a CC (0-127) with a range of about 21 for each effect and OFF. For example, Character Module is CC #16. Drive is 0-21, Sweeten is 22-43...OFF is 110-127.

    Is it possible to change the modulation/flutter rate or things like Bias/speed in Cassette?

    • @bnz70
      @bnz70 6 місяців тому +1

      The amount knob for each effect seems to change more than one variable. So, kind of. It's really well thought out.

    • @goonfish
      @goonfish 6 місяців тому

      @@bnz70 Gotcha - I'm aware there's much more than the front face, and also plan on utilizing as much additional control as I can via MIDI.
      And while I _could_ mockup tape-loops & adjust reel tension to taste, cassette sims are something that really require more than one baked-in setting to shine, imo (even/especially if that does change key parameters throughout as a "macro"), so I do hope there's at least the ability to tune the basics via BPM/sync.
      Maybe in a future firmware, too @HologramElectronics 👀

    • @CardinalPhonics
      @CardinalPhonics 6 місяців тому +1

      After reading the midi implementation chart, I don’t think you can adjust fine details like that. Microcosm is similar in that there are specific parameters I’d love to be able to mess around with but tbh I got 44 effects in one pedal with a lot of control already, I can’t be too mad when I can’t fine tune EVERYTHING.

  • @ElishaDavid
    @ElishaDavid 6 місяців тому

    Can someone explain what's happening at 2:46 with the secondary parameter? I hear the difference but I can't really understand what is actually happening.

    • @HologramElectronics
      @HologramElectronics  6 місяців тому

      So both the Movement and Diffusion modules have a secondary control called "Drift." Increasing Drift will introduce additional layers of modulation to the active effect. So here, I'm increasing Drift on the Reels effect. For that effect, increasing Drift will increasingly add stereo-panning and tape degradation. For all the Diffusion effects, you can rely on Drift adding some pitch modulation to the delay line.
      Hope that helps!

    2:28 weird that the pitch goes momentarily up as the delay time is increased, I would have thought it would go down as the "tape" speed is decreased.

    You guys are marketing the launch of this thing in such a strange way. You didn’t send early units to guitarists so all customers have to go on were peeps who didn’t really know how to make this thing shine the way you have in this video. In fact, all guitar demos thus far (except this one) sound like garbage so I cancelled my pre-order. I’m going to keep that cancelled because at this point I’m not even sure how confident Hologram is in what you’ve created. It sure feels (and kinda sounds) that way.

    • @b1ist3rs
      @b1ist3rs 6 місяців тому +2

      I'm also mad they didn't send me one, they actually expect us to buy the things we promote on here. Sounds like they have no confidence in their product. 😂

    • @alb_reuel
      @alb_reuel 6 місяців тому +4

      i think they're marketing just fine. synth geeks are more interested in these kinds of gear, since guitarists are more likely to understand a pedal that's just one switch one effect. take the zoia, it's way more understood/used in the synth community. i guess guitarists are stupid hahahaha

    • @HologramElectronics
      @HologramElectronics  6 місяців тому +6

      We're a small company, and we have so far just focused on designing, building, and testing these. We put a lot of time into our own videos, but there will be promo units going out to content creators soon. At the moment the priority is just on building pedals for the many people who have already purchased one

    • @rhabdoX
      @rhabdoX 6 місяців тому

      @@HologramElectronics Understood,. but I think the poster is indicating that your marketing is a bit tail wagging the dog. No one knows the pedal like you do. Some of the people that demoed it really did promoting the pedal an injustice. Every official demo I have seen from HE has been amazing. This demo is AMAZING. I think you should, just prior to commissioning pedals, start recording these video's. If you're concerned about the the market demand, wait until you get the sales you want/expect at the introduction, then immediately start releasing your own videos.
