    Dear Chandran, first of all thank you for your precious videos, I have a question regarding the pipe diameter determined by the process engineer (what if it is meant to be the inside diameter?), if I take it as the outside diameter and proceed to the thickness calculation and then come up with a pipe greater than NPS 12, then the thickness will be inwards subsequently less inside diameter which may confuse the velocity of the flow, how can one avoid such a dilemma?

    • @pymedaca3130
      @pymedaca3130  2 роки тому +1

      Please note that process don't consider the OD, all process designs are done only based on ID, rest all velocity and flow parameters are fixed based ID. Process takes this information from us for various sizes before preparing the design. However, piping should check the thickness cal once again, because at many cases it may vary. Then it ll be back forth communication untill we come to an agreement.

    how do we arrive thickness to be selected exactly a particular for given schedule , why our calculated thickness will not be acceptable why do we chose another schedule and consider that thickness ,and what is that 12% in your excel sheet ,why that 12% is taken in consideration to accept the thickness value.

    Thank you Sir for the video! Could you plese give a little clarification. You started from wall thickness of 5.54 mm and then you jump to the next schedule and 8.74 mm. But what are the thicknesses of 6.35 and 7.14 which are in the same column? Why did not you take one of those thicknesses? What are they for? Thanx a lot!

    • @pymedaca3130
      @pymedaca3130  2 роки тому +3

      This is a good question. Those thickness does not have schedule number. In general, most organization uses standard schedules, such 40, 80, 160. Because, these are the schedules approved in Piping Spec. Hope its clear

    • @pymedaca3130
      @pymedaca3130  2 роки тому +1

      Never in piping, the type material does not decide the thickness. Thickness is always designed by Pressure. Though in pipe or plate. But ASME have already listed pipes up to 80". I dont think you need pipe above 80".
