    Excellent video. What is the coefficient "Y" for pipe under internal pressure? Is it temperature coefficient? Also, for bends, what is "I"? Is it moment of inertia?

      I is not a moment of inertia ..it is thickness at sidewall the bend CL, I= 1.0 refer ASME 304.2 2010 edition

    @4:38 table 9.8 this is C2 and not C1, C1 is the corrosion allowance whereas C2 is the thread allowance.

      thank you for the comment.. velocity will not come direcly into the picture but as we know there a relationship between pressure and velocity. and we did calculation based on internal pressure of the fluid. hope you got the answer.

    In external pressure thickness calculation, the stress value considered in calculation depends on the D/T ratio less than 10. for D/T ratio more than 10 , the stress value shall be as per Appendix A of 31.3

    No Pipe is an Hollow cylindrical element where it always keep equalent redius around pipe and its central/longitudinal axis called pipe and its used for fluid and gases from one place to another place.

    While this video is informational I am still very confused. I was wondering if there is a way to tell by looking at the material.. if I’m holding one in each hand how can I tell which is which?? My work stocks both, need some tell tale signs that I can spot off the bat quickly..

      its 12.5%. 12.5/100 =8/7

      i have checked by write up its 0.875 since we have minus 12.5% from overall thickness for mill tolerance.
      I am very sorry for this mistake.. i will try to rectify it.

      Piping Mantra! Your video is correct. Rohit Behera point is incorrect. While calculating thickness of the Pipe, negative mill tolerance of 12.5% is to be added, not to be minus. Hence, we need to divide the thickness calculated from the formula by 0.875. Hence we need to either divide by 7/8 (0.875) or multiply by 8/7.
      Hence what you mentioned in your video is correct.

      You can multiply (100%-12.5%=0.875=7/8) this with standard thickness to check that standard thickness will work or not, if not move to one schedule higher thickness
