Tarka is a 1973 Albin Vega 27 (8.2m) that I bought sight-unseen and without sailing experience on the island of St. Martin in April of 2017. I was thrust head-first into ocean sailing as I got Tarka safely south from what would become the most devastating hurricane seasons on record. We are now working our way west towards the Pacific.
I am sailing Tarka around the world in part to raise money and awareness for coral conservation by supporting the Coral Reef Alliance. You can learn more here:
www.theadventur...
or visit their website directly:
www.coral.org
If you make a donation to their website directly in Tarka's honor, please send me an e-mail copy of your receipt so I can keep track of Tarka's fundraising. You can forward to:
theadventuresoftarka@gmail.com
Additional support for Tarka’s sail for CORAL (The Coral Reef Alliance) comes from contributions by:
Soylent - Healthy provisioning for the long offshore passages
Sta Lok - Swage-less terminals for portions of Tarka’s rigging, making it an easy DIY job and allowing for easy inspection
Victron Energy - Providing monitoring solutions for Tarka's batteries, to ensure we always have enough juice to do what we need to.

Wow, that's a tiny tiny sailboat... must be love..
Lealea is the same size, and they have managed for many many years and even recently completed a full refit/rebuild.
I have one in Bellingham Washington for sale (Craigslist). It was my first boat. I used it mostly as my unofficial office. Going to miss it when It's sold.
@@svoctopus4888 how much ?
There is such beauty in the world that we live and you always show this so good. Thank you for sharing this with all of us.
I agree, there are still lots of pockets (rather large ones, too) of beauty, and I hope we can keep it this way.
my friend...marry that always smiling Dutch gorgeous girl ...
These are modern people marriage doesn’t mean they’ll stay together but their amazing adventures maybe do👍
Bro I'm such a huge fan! I admire what you've done and what you're doing. I just want you to know that you're an inspiration. Keep doing what you're doing. Life throws all kinds of things at you but its how you deal with it that's the real test. You're doing it right! 👍🏻
It's a DJI Phantom 3 I got two years ago, refrubished. It has served us very well :).
15.30 that's a picture to remember, and 16.49 you've achieved some great things on Tarka.
Great video. Especially the Chagres sequences. Huge congratulations. 🎉⛵️👌
Another terrific video. What an adventure you had together! The river segment was absolutely beautiful.
What a beautiful river!
"Motoring into the forest"
Lol ok you really sailed up a river!
Thanks awesome as always, I love that I can do this w/o a ton of $!
We sailed about half way, but once we took the drone out, it was too much to manage trying to tack back and forth.
As you enter the mouth of the Chagres River on the left is old Fort San Lorenzo, a place I have visited and explored many times. On the Right bank is the site of Yankee Chagres, a long-forgotten and now invisible town that was used during the US gold rush of 1849. I have explored that site as well maybe a dozen times. While stationed at the US Naval Security Group Activity Galeta Island, Canal Zone I have water skied on the Chagres River. That was in the early 1970s before the canal Zone was given up to Panama. It was a paradise in those times.
Amazing. The river is now on the list.
You are a master with that drone! Really clever! I enjoy every minute of your videos :-)
Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience and beauty of the nature ! All the best 🙏
It looks like paradise to me
Funny. Nice B-roll, negative head shake of Noostha, while drifting over the shallows. There is not a man on a sailboat who has not seen that exact communication from their lady sailing partner.
What a wonderful video> Ilike so much keep them coming ok? Who is the young lady??? SO NICE !!!
Nice
I have to say the Oceanis 42 is pretty sweet boat. It might be the one.
Wow! Amazing drone footage! (Particularly @3:40 onwards!)
Хорошо в таких местах. Спасибо что показали его
The Chagres river footage looked amazing ,almost as good as the new haircut 😉
Great episode
Are you sitting on a paddle board in croc habitat? baaaaaadddd idea mate! this and canoes is how heaps of people have been taken before...
Seriously I was thinking the same.!! 😳
I'm jealous of your hair. Even when I was your age my hair was never that thick. I'm jealous of your Barber too 😊
IMPRESSED..Great video
Good vid ya'll.
I know you sold the boat but I hope you kept the girl?
WTF, over???
I hope he bought a bigger boat to continue the journey with her, presuming he didn't include the girl in the deal for tarka.
Just happened on your channel. New subscriber.
Dirk Diggler Yes, plenty of home responsibilities now - his father passed quite suddenly
@@Kit2Canada Oh, I didnt know that. So what state is home for him , is there now ?
Sweet!
If that girl comes with Tarka...I wanna know who you sold it to, and make a HUGE offer on the boat.
There s a sucker born every minute.
Did you buy a bigger yacht? Loved the video's! Great times-great adventure's.
Would be cool to see more of the drone footage you shot. Great spot, great film.
Definitely think I'm going to upload a bunch of raw drone footage for patron-only content now that we have good bandwidth.
You two make such a cute couple... 👍🙂
Always great to see your videos. I like you're cruising style but wish you had at least 30ft.
No no, go ahead, I'll just continue being a corporate drone. At least you make me forget that for a while.
Etejour courage capetin Nice veid. ..😍😚⛵💑🎊💐
Bonjour Captain!!!
Do you feel more secure sailing in jungle rivers or ocean??
You know you'r lucky right haha we all do 9to5 race arfff🤣
More things to bump into in a river, but less waves to contend with, tough choice!

Open your eyes you closer to people's...
I want to retire earley and do this for as long as I can o.O
Hi guy’s. Have the Norwegian version of the Albin Vega. ALO 28 it’s called. Same but fin keel. Whats the mm anchor chain you have? 8 mm? Need to get me a new one. Huge fan by the way😊👍⛵️.
When do you plan on posting a video about having sold Tarka and moved back home?
And what about Noustha?
Yeah a proper update would be really nice.
Hi
Do You have waypoint for the in/out of the river of love?
Fair winds!
Tarka the otter, by Henry Williamson?
The jungle did look peaceful, how about bugs?
We had our mosquito nets up, but honestly there were very few bugs. I bet it's a different story in the rainy season though.
Can you add a map of where you are and travel. ?
Where are you at here?
Any new videos
😲😲😀😀👍
When are you going to cross the Pacific??
He sold the boat before the pacific.
Apocalypse Now.
Never get off the boat.
you must be rich
Are you from holland?
I think he is from the USA , but the girl is Dutch though.

Pssstbi wanna sail boat can i get one for less than 20k?
Yes, of course. I just bought Albin Vega 27. Same one as they have for 1900e.
Got my live aboard for $2,500.00
Wow thanks guys!!
Why do you always say unspoiled prehuman world like humans are bad. The world prehuman was a very difficult place to live and early humans had no time to just travel the world. Thry were just trying to survive from one day to the next. Yet you can sail in to a port and buy food with money. A human invention. Currency. Wish you would quit bashing humanity
