      And they left out the fact that Project Azorean happened the same year, a few months after the US lost a nuclear sub that`s last known position was off the coast of the Azores Islands and was trailing Soviet vessels. The interesting part was that it was headed back stateside for repairs but chose to follow the Soviets instead.

    Com'on. Independence is not such a mystery. One of the more famous ships at Bikini. She was brought to San Fransisco after the Bikini tests in order for engineers to study the radiological effects on her hull. Cool they found the wreck, but it was likely not that hard to find it. Someone just needed to be willing to spend the money to go down and have a look. And don't forget, Saratoga (CV-2) is still there at Bikini.

Theres a Ex Sub guy on youtube that did a program on the official report and the military asked him not to do the second half but what I have said here is on the first half and it's still up.

    • @No_Fuse8771
      @No_Fuse8771 2 місяці тому

      Depending on the depth, none. The ocean deep down is very low in carbonates, so human, and other bone dissolve within a few months. Scavengers will clean the bones in just an hour. It only takes a day for a whale to be consumed. If they are not low there are parasites and worms that consume it almost at the same rate they dissolve. The oceans clean themselves very well. When the Sewol went down in Asia, they let it sit for a few months with 200+ bodies in it. The divers were pulling pieces out. I think one girl who was in a closed bathroom was the only full skeleton they got out. It was only 141 feet or so deep. 43 meters.

    It's too bad they destroyed the USS Saratoga CV-3 during Crossroads as well. She made it through the war, although wasn't/isn't as relevant or revered as Enterprise CV-6 due to spending lots of time in drydock and then as a training ship as more fleet carriers entered service. Should have been preserved like Enterprise should have been. You can at least still dive on Saratoga though if you want, she still sits on the bottom of Bikini in clear waters. Can easily see it from above the surface.

      No, she was a CVL, light aircraft carrier, but the lead ship of that class. Built on a Cleveland-class cruiser hull. Only carried about 25 fighters and 8 torpedo bombers. or 12 fighters, 9 torpedo/9 dive bombers. Small when compared to Essex fleet carriers. She wasn't the only carrier bombed in operation crossroads, the USS Saratoga CV-3 was as well, although imo it should have been preserved like the USS Enterprise should have been. it still lies on the bottom of Bikini, and is a popular rec dive site, as it is not very deep. Supposedly you can float above it in a boat and see it below in the clear water.

    inaccurate history -- here's the correction -- the Usa installed nukes in Turkey *FIRST* - they were pointed at Russia ....then after that the Russians installed nukes in Cuba in retaliation -- the Americans conveniently leave that part out of the story

    Don't like the "excitable" narrator ! You try too hard to make this exciting ! Just tell the story . Thumbs Down !

    I would really liek to watch this "documentary" because the basic idea is neat.
    However I am so sick and tired of this overdramatic, sensationalist tone that it is unwatchable for me. Being almost void of actual facts just adds insult to injury.
    RELEARN TO MAKE DECENT DOCUMENTARIES LIKE IN THE 70's AND 80's!

    I wish everybody would stop comparing any particular explosion to that of Hiroshima or Nagasaki... Because nobody really know what it means... Nobody knows what a 15kT explosion looks or feels like... Nobody knows what 20X or 50X or 1000X Hiroshima or Nagasaki explosion compares to... Is there any other possible way to make a comparison as such?? We may never know...
