What is a DMZ? (Demilitarized Zone)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 16 вер 2018
- A DMZ, or demilitarized zone, is used to help improve the security of an organization’s network by segregating devices, such as computers and servers, on the opposite sides of a firewall. And setting up a DMZ in your home router designates a device as a DMZ host and will forward all the ports to that device.

This is what schools are supposed to be: Good old-fashioned simple animations with commentaries crystal clearly breaking down complex concepts and emulating them into real-world practices. No bs, just what it is, how it works, and what it brings about. I dont mind writing essays, but I do mind writing essays for professors to assess who cant clarify the simple difference between Ipv4 vs Ipv6. Boy i was 5mins in the lecture and started googling and got everything I needed from this channel...

schools are for hour long lectures you will or will not need in future but honstly most of it wont be needed
Most people have to use 2 sometimes even 3 4 or 5 sources to study for each IT cert they get. This is cause not everyone explains stuff in a way you understand. So each source might only explain some of it in a way you understand. That's why to learn it all for a cert people use many sources. If it was so easy for everyone to understand instantly then IT people wouldnt get paid well if just anyone could learn it without almost no struggle or effort.
my mind went to the school shootings
when you're trying to look up a documentary on the Korean war and you stumble upon this
you must be an idiot.
TJ NightTrain you must be insanely fun at parties.
wait this isnt about Korea?!?
Joseph Fox it's about computer networking.
@@dusscode ah yes computer networks in korea
I am now almost at the end of my Study as an it technician, I must honestly say that this guy is simply the best at explaining things to beginners, there is no one better. He explains everything as simply and clearly as possible so that even beginners are not confused. Sometimes I have the feeling with him that my grandma who has nothing to do with it could understand him. Keep up your great job!
when you've been in IT for 10 years and heard these words thrown around and by this point you're afraid to ask.. these videos are gold!
Please give this man an oscar or Noble. I have cleared all my doubts of DMZ. From here i can master. Thank you sir
This video is amazing!! During my Network + studies, they talk a lot about NOT using Demilitary zones on corporate networks and i don't understand why?? This video explains it's uses and why it's beneficial. Also, NOBODY has every explained(except this video, smiles) how the DMZ is utilized in a home router setup. The XBOX example is very pertinant and is a great example of how to use that feature at home.
Thank you.
In a corporate environment it is important to prevent unauthorized access to data storage servers. It is those servers you do not put in the DMZ
@@stephenhunter70 Well in a corporate environment, what devices are you allowed to put in a DMZ? What devices have you seen placed there? Thanks.
In a corporate environment you are allowed to put whatever your client has authorized to be put there. The real question is what would I put there!
Kenneth White some put their Webserver, mailserver or cloud storageserver there. Just as examples.
I teach IT at the high school level. Your videos are one of my greatest resources. Our students take the CompTIA IT Fundamentals exam their first year and the Microsoft Networking Fundamentals their second year. I can not thank you enough for your help.
Thanks
Two useless Certs: IT Fundamentals (is it still around?) and Microsoft Networking Fundamentals (never even heard of it). High school students should be studying something like CompTIA A+ or Cisco Academy CCNA modules (full CCNA might be tough for HS kids). Agree that these videos are a wonderful resource as are Professor Messer (sp?)
whenever im stuck on a concept, i come to your videos. Thanks
3:41 Love the toxic skulls spitting out from the first firewall. Great video as usual!
:)
How are his explanations so easy and crisp! He even put in a explanation and quick guide for a home DMZ! You are just amazing!
I started watching him yesterday and i understand everything he teaches. Well explained 👌🏾 Good job bro. Keep it up
That home router animation was so captivating!
Exactly my thought
This is the 2nd video of yours I have watched, and I am very impressed! You explain things in a very clear and understanding way with a very good visual video along with it. And you explain at a speed that I can keep up with. I've tried watching other videos and I usually end up just as confused as when I started. Thank you for your help!!
Wow, so simple, super informative at the same time, usually I don't bother to comment anywhere, but today I just reached the point where I felt the need to do so, I'm really enjoying all your videos, and I think you are the best learning source on the globe , thanks for your valuable contribution and the priceless effort. keep up the good work ❤️
Thank you.
Hands down one of the best presentation I have ever seen. I've been in school for 5 years haven't came close to this great of a video like this. Animation was on point, Summarizing on point, and give me extra content such as connect it to gaming console. I'm actually going to try this out. Thank you a million, you've help me tremendously, sir. Happy holidays, and New Year. :)
Thank you.
These animations are the best by far in explaining networks. Glad these set of videos are still around after all these years.
Nice! Been switching my brother over to 5 GHz on our secondary router Sunday and noticed this option. Was wondering what that was (besides parent's initials!) Decided to look it up later and was surprised to find it in my feed yesterday from you! Caught me off guard! Didn't even have to search for it! This amazing timing tends to happen a lot! Especially with TechQuickie! Nice job, really helped! Saved me time too!
I've been watching A+ videos to study and DMZs popped up and nobody explained it well, but this video is incredible! you actually explained it perfectly, thank you
Your vids are the absolute best on the subject matter you cover. Concise, well presented and very useful in helping me understand these concepts and topics. Thank you!!!
4:33 thanks for giving me one good reason on why we should have a game console at home

Thanks that was really a short and absolutely to the point explaination
You can do more in 10 minutes than what 20K tuition does in 4 years. Keep the videos coming, I learn every single time when I watch.

really great set of videos. Enjoyed this and the raid videos! Very educational!
This video is everything I needed and more. Thank you.
"In the real world, a DMZ is an area where the military is forbidden" - Not quite if you've been to the North-South Korean border DMZ
The parts with soldiers are not in the DMZ. The DMZ runs right through the middle, and aside from some special events any soldier from either side stepping into the DMZ would be committing an act of war.
@@NaptownClassic Like the neutral zone between federation and romulan space
The DMZ itself is filled with landmines if im not mistaken.
Thats an amazing explanation, thank you so much!
Simply amazing and easy to swallow. Great job PowerCert.
