    This video covers the process of replacing the exhaust system from the muffler to the tailpipe on a 2011 Chevy Equinox. The process covered in this video will be the same or similar on many other vehicles including a GMC Terrain and GMC Acadia. In this video, I replace the muffler, intermediate pipe, resonator, hangers and clamps on a 2011 Chevy Equinox. The muffler often develops a leak at the welded seam on a Chevy Equinox with a 2.4-liter engine.
    The process covered in this video repair tutorial will be the same or similar on most vehicles including U.S. and Canadian models of:
    2005 - 2016 Chevrolet Equinox
    2005 - 2012 Pontiac Torrent
    2005 - 2016 GMC Acadia
    2005 - 2016 GMC Terrain

    FYI, you don't technically have to buy the rear most muffler if you don't want to. It is possible just to cut the OEM pipe at the right spot, there's another video floating out there that will demonstrate such. This is what I did on my 2013 equinox, with no leaks having just used basic auto parts store horseshoe clamps.

    Great video and I really appreciate the attention to detail by showing the offset of the Walker setup.

    Great video. Thanks for pointing out the muffler offset issue - I noticed that also. Good to know that the pipe will compensate.

    Cool might just do this myself since they make the parts. Last couple times I had some work done at my local muffler shop they just ordered the stuff and I had to wait anyway

    So with this resonator the writing will be facing down instead of on top?

    Good Video! Curious though, why cut the rear muffler off first? When you remove the mid muffler doesn't the whole thing come off all together?

    • @BOOT
      @BOOT 4 роки тому +3

      Makes hammering the mid off easier with less weight to push

      My question exactly. Has me thinking i need to be ready to cut but im thinking i could drop it all out together

      @@chasegoodard3721 That's what I did... Dropped the whole thing together. Just needed to support the rear muffler with something to keep it level with the mid muffler while I hammered the mid muffler off. Didn't realize it's been 3 years already...

    you said resonator, that is what is wrong with mine, but on you list, is that what you are calling the mid muffler?

    • @nickt6595

      The Equinox has 2 mufflers (1 x rear & 1 x middle) & a resonator. In this video, I never seen the resonator. Hmmm,

    Don't you have to weld the seams?

    with exception of the muffler that cheap ass pipe will maybe last 2 years and it will rot out. sucks that they don't make an actual replacement resonator

    • @psiewert83
      @psiewert83 4 роки тому +6

      Probably true, but it's better than paying $780 for the OEM assembly that has already proven to rot out in 5 years.

    A lot of tutorials and nobody use exhaust paste

      No need to. Even horseshoe clamps will seal correctly.
