I hunt out of a Nucanoe Frontier 12 with their layout duck blind. It is incredibly stable and can haul over 600lbs.

Sorry to hear ur wedding got postponed. These are tough times for all of us of course. I would like to thank you and all the flyways collective for ur continued videos. It's the passion of waterfowl hunting, the outdoors at a time like this that makes u feel like we will get through this. Things will return to normal at some point and we wil be back hunting ducks again. I wore my spoonies bro hat and shirt out yesterday made me feel better about all that we are facing right now.

I’m digging the kayak duck hunting! I had a 19-ft Tracker Grizzly all camo’d out and I felt like a sore thumb in the field. Definitely buying a kayak.

Good video Josh! I'd go with the top water 100% of the time. Safer. More stable, and can't fill up with water.

I didn't notice if you compared the weight. I have a topwater PDL 120, and for fishing , it is fantastic. Not so much hunting deer. It is heavy, hence why I am looking at hybrid options. Will probably go for an Old Town Next

An honorable mention for a Kayak I'd recommend is An Old Town Vapor 12. I got mine for $400 cash and a nice Aqua Bound manta paddle for $40 from a super nice Kayak Dealer Kim in PA, Country Kayaks he has an Ebay store as well. I made my blind out of Camo Netting, Poly fencing and Raffia Grass. You get pretty creative when you are broke. Pinterest is an awesome place for duck blind ideas

we have the Vapor 10's at work and when I first used it I thought it would make a decent duck hunting kayak. I'm just not sure about how stable it is and how much gear it can hold.

@@OutdoorLimits I comfortably fit a dozen mallard decoys in the cockpit with me, a mojo spinner bag and blind. I think the weight limit is around 375 lbs. Extremely stable due to how wide it is. The only times I've flipped it is at 4am getting into it awkwardly in my waders(all my fault). Shooting out of it has been no problem at all good little boat that's opened up so much good hunting areas for me this past season.

I have never duck hunted out of a kayak before but I own a Ocean Kayak Prowler (older model) for fishing the salt marshes of S. Georgia. I think I am going to use it for a "Quack Yak" and see how it goes. PS I will be doing mostly day hunts. I do not want to deal with the darkness and alligators.

I run a Prowler 13T for ducks, works pretty darn well, only complaint is I'd like an open bin in the front and not all the dry storage, but otherwise it's been a game changer.

KDWPT requires at least white light on any boat.!!! After dark! Good move with mounted lights. I got fined in a row boat once!

Knowing what you’ve seen with both kayak options. I was looking into the ascend h12, but then I came across the pelican bass raider.
I’d like something that would be good to fish out of also. I hadn’t considered the no motor rule for public land as the places I hunt allow motors.
What would be your thoughts on the bass raider? I see it as the stability of a jon boat, but the flexibility of a kayak.
Not sure how well they paddle, but I’d be using a troll motor or a 3.5hp gas engine to get through the channels where I’m at.
I’m not a small guy so I’d like to limit the possibility of dumping my boat over.

Question, I'm looking to get into duck hunting from a kayak and buying a kayak. My biggest concern is transportation in my short bed truck. I would prefer a 12 foot. How do you transport your kayak and gear? Maybe a video idea? Thanks!

Sweet video Josh! I have a boat with a blind for the big marahs but I do alot of walk-in hunts as well. I'm really looking hard at a kayak and this helps. Do you ever use a push pole or is that not feasible? Thanks for sharing.

Your ever just used some leaf o flauge over your kayak instead of a bulky blind. I’ve done it and birds don’t seem to mind kinda seems a little extra to get a layout blind for a kayak. To each is own though lol. I’d just rather not have to deal with a blind on my kayak there already so small and limited.

I was just about to buy the 120 until I found out about inflatable pontoons. I went with a Sea Eagle 285 instead. It's easier and safer to transport in my car which was the selling point for me. As well as cheaper than a kayak.

What if you took the blind on the discovery and tucked it underneath that front bar, and then just had like an extra little grass mat to go over the lights, seems like it might work a little bit better because I can see that it is uncomfortable just by seeing it on there. great video enjoyed it a lot

    • @OutdoorLimits
      @OutdoorLimits  4 роки тому

That wouldn't make a difference. Being able to sit farther back or being able to move the front bar forward would help.
