    I even know how to do the easier stuff and I still watch your videos. You're a good dude. You get very in depth without coming off like an ass. You mention the stupid little things even. Like how to close the air filter door. Most folks would look at that and be like yep all done just close the door. But you even explain that. For somebody lacking confidence in what they're doing like me with changing fork oil (watched that video before binging more of your content.) It really helps to hear even the tiny little things. And usually you explain why you did something too if at first it doesn't look like it made sense or was necessary. Keep up the good work

    Things have changed since I was a kid. We used to clean our dirtbike air filters with petrol then oil them up with 2 stroke oil sure did the job.

    Pop a rare earth magnet on your socket wil help keep bolts from getting dropped.
    Work with a White Drop Sheet uder the Bike too.
    Save time not losing parts.

    Protip: Go ahead and buy another filter when you do this for the first time. That way when you go and change it you can have a clean one ready to go. Just oil it and install. & a spare to have ready to go for next time.

    Tim, try buying and using JIC screwdrivers in lieu of Phillip head. They work so much better, it's almost like magic.

      daniel jaram - You are correct. I have recently purchased some JIC scewdrivers and there is, in deed, a difference! In fact, I'm planning to make a video on the difference.
      Thanks for the comment and for watching.

    can you use wd-40 or chain lubricant to oil the filter?

    any reason why you dont grease the filter where it contacts to air box to give a better seal.cheers

    Great Vid. Thank you so much. SUBSCRIBED! I was wording about you not using the glue or the sticky snot that comes with the original filter. I have hear folks getting a leak at the base and it causing too much air flow and getting lean pop in the muffler. I do have the popping on mine but I also have the sticky glue at the base. Is the glue required?

    • @Tim2Wheels
      @Tim2Wheels  8 років тому

      I have never used the "glue". I do make sure it is oiled well around the base and tighten it securely to make a good seal.
      Thanks for the comment and for watching.

    Are your series on KLR650 maintenance applicable to gen 1 KLR or are the differences to great? I have a 1988 KLR

    wonder if I can use the K&N recharge kit?

    • @Tim2Wheels
      @Tim2Wheels  7 років тому

      Roger Cooley - Hi Roger, the K&N recharge does the same thing (clean and lube the air filter), so I would say yes.
      Thanks for the comment/question and for watching.
