The way godzilla was fighting the ion dragon he seemed more annoyed that he challenged him and he just completely took him easily.
I think Godzilla was there to investigate where the signal was coming from and the Ion Dragon got territorial and picked a fight. I think Gman still spared him by throwing him into the portal. Maybe the dragon survived.

One thing is for sure, Ion Dragon is a titan that demends respect. He is not an Alpha like Kong or Gidorah, neither has an evolutionary advantage against Godzilla, like the M.U.T.Os do, and yet he had the guts to challenge Godzilla.
Reminds me of how Rodan had the guts to face Gidorah.

This was a hell of a way to end this season. And I’m really interested in seeing more of this place. Seeing more of the portals. How they work, how the titans navigate through them. It’s just so cool and I’m here for it.

I never once cared about the human stories in a Godzilla movie and I've seen them all, except maybe a few Japanese only releases.

It was about representing the danger of nuclear power. You sort of miss the message if your brain is always on "monster go brrr" mode. There's a time and place for that.

Well it’s kind of easy when two of the three fights are completely cut from the first movie. 😜
This show is the absolute pinnacle of Godzilla for me. The human element was done absolutely perfectly, and the monster element, although used sparingly, was some of the best the industry has seen. I know people loved Shin Godzilla, and I can't wait to see Minus One, but this was perfection from beginning to end.
That final scene with mother and son... That tore me apart.

You gotta set higher standards for godzilla media, this show barely even focuses on the kaiju lore all the humans talk about are the portals and the potential of a g day but we never see actual signs of it

Shimu being the first titan and supposedly causing the first ice age and freezing gidorah probably makes him the most powerful titan yet, plus he’s bigger than Godzilla, while Godzilla fights him in his evolved form.
Most powerful, Godzilla will beat him cause of plot armor, or just come to an agreement lol.
Godzilla will defeat shimu by leveling up. He is not going to make the same mistakes as he made while fighting MechaG, when he was tired as hell and couldn't fight properly.
When the Ion Dragon attacks Godzilla

If there's one thing that godzilla has an advantage over, it when ever flying titans engage him in close quarters ground combat, even ghidorah got his ass man handle by the Big G himself and only ever survived because of human intervention or human made structures that boosted his power, and even then Ghidorah's one advantage was his size for being flying type energy titan. Dude is as close a match for Gman as flying titans get so Ion dragon was literally just an annoying fly that spat in his face and he took that personally
But don't forget, Godzilla was revived by nuclear bomb before the fight. However, Ghidorah take the advantage against Big G with just one electric transformer and I assume is less powerful than Bomb Nuke. Sorry if I have a bad english I'm still a newbie.
