Since Shaw got left behind, he is not dead, Keiko can age up outside while Shaw spend a couple months stuck where Keiko was and they can finally end up together, closer in age, when reunited again.

My gut feeling is they couldn't afford to keep the Russell's for more than one season. I feel "bait and switched" by it.

Seeing them being back on skull island & the Kong scene at the end was just icing on the cake that was this show. It really stuck the landing and overall i enjoyed this🤝
This pretty much confirms a time skip too since the storms surrounding Skull Island were pushed inland after Ghidorah disrupted the atmosphere.

I love the scene where Keiko comes out of the monarch pod, and Hiroshi slowly walks up, and then he says in English “mama”. So so touching.

What a banger finale it was... Filled with emotional rollercoaster and some epic monster action ft. Godzilla (and Kong as cameo). I want to know more about Axis Mundi. I'm already craving for more and need sequel season ASAP! 🤩💙❤️🔥💥

As far as I’m concerned, Lee Shaw isn’t dead until I actually see a body, not after they did a death with Keiko and she lived. That man has fallen through a rift like 3 times now and survived, a couple feet drop in stormy weather ain’t gonna kill him. They can go back and get him. He’s fine. He’s just resting.

yeah, westerners often cant relate to asian actors for whatever reason, but her acting was phenomenal. totally felt the emotion she displayed.

Some of the mid season episodes were soso...But this finale was fire!
First 3 and last 3 were good.. middle 4 were so - so. I personally liked the 9th one the best.
Trying to force the Cate/ May attraction was a major misstep, imho. It made May seem less, and a token character. She had feelings for Kentaro, now she just doesn’t, and is gay now? What?? Stop it, Hollywood…. For those of us with gay family and friends, it’s damned near insulting. They are actual people, not boxes to tick.

C. I totally agree. They blew it big time with the Kentaro/May/Cate triangle. It was pointless. They also kind of made Cate a piece of shit cheater, which had Zero to do with the story. Isn’t her PTSD enough, Hollywood? Can’t May and Ken keep their own relationship, without having Cate be forced into it? I kind of get what they tried to do- an opposite of the Lee/Billy/Keiko triangle- it just didn’t work at all. And it was so forced…

Godzilla came in like God descending from the heavens! and This was a good episode very emotional for everyone but MAY must be the most pointless character in this show my god I am sorry but she is horrible she actually really annoys me like what's the point of her?? and its also annoying how what's her name I forgot she sucks too just to hook up with may sorry I don't get it lol Just feels so out of place. Wish May got left behind instead of Shaw.

Love the idea that season 1 was largely Godzilla centered, with season 2 being Kong centered and potentially ending with the events of Kong of the Monsters. Season 3 can chronicle events between KotM and GvK. Eventually season 4 can say what happens between GvK and GxK.
it surprised me how emotional this finale was. I watched it twice last night. It is a great way to end season 1 and I hope we get another season.
Now THAT was THE best episode by far.
with that cliphanger appearance of Kong in the last minute of the finale, they cannot not make a season 2. I'm sure Col. Lee is gonna come out next Season.

Godzilla threw the Ion Dragon into the portal after ripping its wing off so maybe it transported to Skull Island also and will regenerate a wing and fight Kong next season. The person that plays Kei absolutely nailed it in this episode!
My guess is that the ripped off winged dragon thrown into a time portal will probably regenerate into a skull crawler, which is witnessed in the "Kong: Skull Island" movie. Afterall, there is a huge physical resemblance between the dragon creature and the skull crawlers, which appear in the Skull Island. It was a masterpiece episode.

From the fight scene of the monster to the emotional conversation of the humans this was a dope show. I hope there’s another season. I assume it’ll connect after Godzilla and Kong team up if they do make another season

1 big question. I think that 1 day in hollow earth is about 2 years on the surface. If so, then how come Kong and his crew in GVK didn’t emerge like a year later
When the group was traveling the wormhole back to their original world, did anyone notice that they went to a different wormhole? the yellow one, it suddenly appeared on the left side of the blue wormhole (original).
I guess hiroshi and others made it happen (by those devices that were set up) coz when they retuned kentaro said hiroshis calculations helped. If apex had not interfared maybe they would have ended up in hollow earth(or the place godzilla went in the portal) through the blue portal path

When May said that they fell down and Shaw corrects her and said “how do you know we didn’t fall up?” Leads me to believe that the Hollow Earth isn’t actually IN earth, but it’s a portal to a different dimension. A RIFT between worlds. With that being said, I think this opens up the possibility of a Pacific Rim and Godzilla crossover.

Absolutely, adding Pacific Rim into the monster verse is genius. They could make it so that Godzilla disappears or hybernates for a long time, forcing monarch to make Jagers to fight off enemy Kaiju/MUTOs (Humans already made mecha godzilla so its possible). Also, it would be a great way to add more of Godzilla's alien enemies like Gigan, or even space Godzilla being a clone looking like the Kaiju from Pacofic rim.
No adding pacific rim would ruin tge monster verse......keep that bs pacific rim bs away from the monsterverse
IF they are going for a cross-over of pacific rim and monsterverse, one detail can connect them. The rifts or portals from both franchises can be accessed by piggyback-riding a kaiju🤯

You brought up a good point,I didn't realise how invested I was into the human characters till Shaw sacrificed himself,this show did an amazing job with its storytelling,the bits of Kaiju battles really was the icing to top it all off..
My fav part was when cate finally calls out the ongoing family bullshit of abandonment. I like Keiko but she really is the one who kicks starts the pattern of fucked up family life for 3 generations
The first time Lee was sucked into the wormhole (when he ended up in 1982). This time the wormhole discriminated and sucked in only the pod :D It was very silly. And, no doubt, he's still alive and kicking.

I was enjoying the show until they started shoving the LGBTQ relationship into the episode. Once a show is woke, I disconnect. Unfortunately, LGBTQ propaganda is in everything now.

One small fact: When the group made it to the launch pod that Shaw left behind 35 years ago, Keiko said that it had only been there for weeks. That means time warp in Hollow Earth not only affect living organism, but also mechanical. That also means, Hollow Earth is a different dimension, not "inside" the earth itself, more like a parallel earth to us, and the two earths share entrances (this theory also mentioned when Shaw talked to the group)
Godzilla has been portrayed as the enforcer of nature, the being that keeps the natural order in check. Having him and the other titans come from a different world, therefore making them unnatural to ours, kinda fucks that up.
That is World between World, not Hollow Earth. Remember in Godzilla vs. Kong, human cant go inside Hollow Earth without special vehicle.
Man this was far from a masterpiece but I will admit I love how well it tied into the movies. In comparison to Marvel making 50 heroes just to tie them into the universe web for 5 minutes of every series.
Monarch series was awesome being Straight to the point, not an overwhelming storylines. we got to see what we wanted Godzilla, Monsters and Monster hunting. I felt like this is what gets people to liking the overall Godzilla Kong Franchise
The character development and relationships are so well done and is the backbone of this series. Amazing first season. You felt the emotion when 1) Cate and especially Lee saw Keiko. 2) When Kentaro and Hiroshi reunited with Cate, especially after 2 years. 3) When Hiroshi reunited with his mother Keiko not knowing she was still alive.
The Ape at the end is not Kong. I think he is the modified one by Apex. Look at his Beard in E10 and also in the Godzilla x Kong Trailer. There is a Hand, covered with Steele. So in GxK ist Apex the Villian.
So I finally got my Art Spirits 1991 Godzilla figure today and it looks pretty good. I had lowered expectations after seeing a Japanese unboxing for it but I came away very happy once I finally saw it in person.
The tail can be a little tough to insert. Took me a couple times to make it look perfect. It’s only 3.5” but this is the perfect size since I’m not a fan of the larger ones. My first Godzilla toy back in 1995 was the Imperial one at 12”. I much prefer 3.5”-7”.
I’m still waiting on my Hiya Exquisite Basic GvK V2 Godzilla and Big Bad Toy Store is ready to ship it to me soon. Now all I need is one for Kong since I love the big ape. I’m hoping Hiya makes a good one of GxK Kong. The Playmates that makes sounds looks decent for one of the cheaper figures.
I was not a fan of either MonsterVerse designs of Godzilla and King Kong but they eventually grew on me. I love Godzilla and King Kong since I was a kid circa 1988. I used to love seeing Kong at the Universal Studios (Hollywood) tram tour. I admire Godzilla while I have sympathy for Kong. Can’t wait to watch them join forces and kick more ass!

Heisei Era will always be how I picture Godzilla In my mind first especially his land suits from 1989 and 1991. But MV Godzilla is so big and powerful. The most realistic way on how Godzilla should move and use his tail. I would have Minus One Godzilla be my third favorite design but I’m not sure putting him above Heisei and MV. While 60s Showa has G’s most iconic roar.
Time for me to watch Godzilla vs. Biollante (1989) to honor the Art Spirits Godzilla I got today. Since I like my figure so much, I guess no need for me to order the SH MonsterArts for the 1989 and 1991 ones. No more space and don’t want to spend $100+ for them.
Heisei is my favorite design and how I first envision Godzilla in my head but MonsterVerse remains my favorite Godzilla. Minus One is the GOAT Godzilla film but the Godzilla in it is only my 3rd favorite. I like it more than any of the Showa and Millennium Godzillas but not as much as Heisei and MV.

I like the idea of the portal.
A plot twist my buddies and i came up with.
Ghidorah didnt come from space but from a different world from a different universe, through the portal. Have gxk new empire film. Then make another film of why godzilla and kong have to fight again. Make it to where godzilla just becomes too much a threat. Kong fights him. N manages to knock godzilla into the portal sending him to another universe. godzilla ends up on another planet in some other universe. He gets up and in the distance you hear a ghidorah roar. godzilla immediately gets pissed and begins to hunt. Wait for it….planet of monsters. Or he has to beat all his usual rogues gallery and it becomes planet godzilla. More new film(s)

- axis mundi is another dimension, at first i tought it was the same as hollow earth.. but it's not. Coz hollow earth can be accessed by godzilla's breath that digs down through earth's crust..

I don't care about the humans at all, however this series is nothing but what the humans are doing in the background of this story.
Like the new movie coming out I honestly have no care about that little girl and her tribe. If they got stomped out by Scar so be it, lets get back to Kong, Scar, Godzilla and whatever that other thing is named fighting it out.

Tryna enjoy the show but my prejudice wont let me...its just weird/wrong for the brothers x to be falling for the sister cause she "saved" her that one time like i get it the real world actress is gay we know we dont need to be reminded of it every time those 2 are on screen. Other than that im liking the series

The question you should be asking is why the heck did Shaw waste 2 minutes watching Godzilla fight instead of getting back in the escape pod, and only attempting to get back in the escape pod after it was being pulled away. The writers suck and took away what could have been a meaningful death. Its ridiculous

Expecting Lee "Snake Plisskin" Shaw in the 2nd season. Most likely Snake will bring back those glowing rocks as a way to trigger the portals but also as a power source too. Those rocks likely have radioactive materials that naturally converts those radiation as electrical energy.

Also, I think Monarch did a great job of filling in the blanks the Monsterverse films left. This explains WHY APEX had developed successful vehicles to travel to Hollow Earth because they had experience with it from 2017 on. Still not sure how they got the mag level tunnel dug from FL to Hong Kong, but as my wife says, "What, you believed it up to now?"

While i did mourn Shaw like you did, i only mourned him for all of 2 seconds then decided there was no way they killed him off. I mean the pod wasn't so far off the ground that the fall would kill him. Who knows if him being there years prior altered him in other ways other then just the time difference. Not only that do we really believe Keiko is just going to sit back and accept that he's dead without personally verifying it? No way! What else would she do now? Just sit back and try to fit in or would she try to find the one person she knows and honestly in my opinion, loves? I always got the vibe that she loved both but Bill probably was more compatible in the end seeing as they're both scientists. Anyways, i highly doubt they'll keep him dead. There is just way too much juicy story meat both in present day as well as the past. Either way seeing her respond to the sudden and huge realization that her husband aged then died, that her son would be in his 40's? early 50's? That she missed every big important life event, and lost years with everyone she loved was just intense and beautifully acted. Made me cry a lil bit cause you could see that pain. Great actress ❤

Like, in gvk kong and the humans spent a handful of time in the hollow earth. probably longer than cate and others.
Cate and others came back to the surface earth 2 years later. Meanwhile kong and the humans came back like just hours later on the surface earth. Sure, let's say it's because they did not used any portal to come back, but rather they used the passage tunnel that Godzilla just made with his automatic breathe.
But we see at the end of the gvk movie that the humans are now in the hollow earth studying kong. So they should be spending alot of time in hollow earth for that. But if that's the case, wouldn't that make them skip so many years if they spend more time in the hollow earth? If not, would they use the passage way to hollow earth in hongkong so that they wouldn't have any time dilation problem?

Lee was around 27 in 1952 so Keiko was probably around the same age as him back then. That would make Keiko around 34 in 1959 when she fell into Axis Mundi.
Hiroshi was around 10 in 1962 which would make Hiroshi around 30 in 1982 and around 65 at the end of season 1 / 2017.
Lee lost around 20 years in Axis Mundi between 1962 and 1982, so Lee was around 37/57 in 1982 and around 70/90 in 2015.
Keiko lost around 57 years in Axis Mundi between 1959 and 2017 so Keiko is around 34/92 in 2017.

I hope Axis Mundi isn't actually a different dimension but just a wonky pocket of hollow earth disconnected from the core. The Titans have been potrayed as natural creatures and Godzilla is the protector of the natural order, so having them be foreign entities themselves would kinda ruin that.
