    Pineapple UPSIDE DOWN Cake.
    It is made in a cast iron skillet. Then turned out onto a plate to cool and serve. The pineapple slices are placed on top of melted brown sugar in butter, and batter poured on top to bake. Very important as this creates a sauce over the now browned butter pinapples. MAKES this dish.
    Edit: My vote for American dessert is Bananas Foster. Supply pillows, as Mr. Chandry will faint.. lol.

      @@antjecasarez5059 Kleiner Schokoladenkuchen are the original brownies. All of the later American recipes dating from the late 1800s on are based on this original German brownie which by the way has the exact same texture and looks very much like American cake brownies. Americans added melted chocolate to the original Cake brownie recipe to make them fudgier and more chocolatey. But it was not an original recipe, it was an adaptation to the original German brownie recipe.

    • @antjecasarez5059
      @antjecasarez5059 10 місяців тому

      @@decolonizeEverywhere this is not true. Please cite your sources. There were no German Schokoladenkuchen that early, since cacao was either used as medicine or (very expensive) drink for wealthy people. The Sachertorte was created in Vienna in 1832, but it’s Austrian, not German and also not even closely related to brownies. There is no debate about the origins of brownies, as you can see in many publications on culinary history. The earliest recipes are from around 1900. Most experts agree that brownies were created for an event at Palmer House hotel in Chicago.

    Is that "pineapple right-side-up cake"?? ;) Heh...
    Usually we make "pineapple upside-down cake," where it's baked inverted with the pineapple and cherry, plus butter and cinnamon & brown sugar, on the bottom, and cake batter is poured over the top of those. Then it's baked until done, taken out and flipped right-side up. The pineapple and cherry bake into the cake, and the butter and sugar caramelize the "top" of the cake.
    Looks like with this one, the cake was made, and then fresh pineapple and cherry were placed on top before cutting. I'm sure it was tasty. Just maybe not quite the way it's usually made? ;) Thought there's benefits to doing it that way, in that the pineapple and cherry are a little fresher and more moist, as they tend to caramelize and slightly dry out when baked into the cake itself.
    Anyway, looks tasty!

    Um no. Pineapple upside down cake is the correct name of it

    • @decolonizeEverywhere
      @decolonizeEverywhere 10 місяців тому

      I'm assuming they left the upside down part out of the title because they didn't make it correctly and didn't baked it upside down. They just put pineapple on top of a cake. And the banana pudding had no pudding or vanilla wafers, it was just whipped cream with bananas in it.

      Wow, fudge is a northern dessert. The pineapple upside down cake was a cake with pineapple on top of it. And banana pudding isn't just whipped cream with bananas in it . Where was the peach cobbler where was the Mississippi mud pie where were the pralines because that's what they should have had instead of the fudge. And that Mexican dish yesterday was huevos rancheros and they got that all wrong too.

    • @decolonizeEverywhere
      @decolonizeEverywhere 10 місяців тому

      You mean a redo rather than a part 2 because it would give them a chance to put to pudding and Nilla wafers in the banana pudding instead of just whipped cream with bananas in it. And maybe that pineapple upside-down cake could do the upside down part of it. I would sincerely hope they would do pralines instead of fudge, which is from Maryland and the people from Maryland do not consider themselves southerners.

    Watching Chaudhary’s initial expression I wasn’t sure whether the ‘so called’ banana pudding was going to suit him, but it was sweet and met his approval.
    Many comments here about what the desserts should be like… always critics. Remember where this is being filmed and the unavailability of the ‘correct’ ingredients to the chef. I think they need to be applauded for their efforts rather than criticized. Just saying. This channel brings me so much joy… thanks

    I always think this but never comment about it, so, I know utensils are not big with the villagers but the people running the channel should not give them forks when they need spoons and vice versa and don't give them serving spoons to try and fit in their mouths? I know it may sound petty but so many times they appear awkward b/c they're given the wrong utensils and many times nothing to drink or a napkin or paper towel to wipe their face or hands.

    The attempt at banana pudding was the only "Southern" dessert offered to them, and like others mentioned it wasn't banana pudding :(. No pecan pie, fruit cobbler, stuffed beignets, tea cakes, etc etc.
