This panel can put out close to 100 watts ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxOqI2yqX0XVrhR2BMJciTWrHJpG8FhJyg when positioned in the appropriate southernly direction, tilted to the optimal angle for your latitude/date, and connected to a higher capacity device than a 500. The built in kickstand angle is a fixed at 50 degrees. Up to 20% more power can be output by selecting the actual date and latitude optimal angle. The 500 will only input 3.5A maximum at 18 volts for 63 watts. Some of the excess power from the panel can be fed into a USB battery bank, charged directly from the panel while also charging a 500. This will allow you to harvest as much as 63 + 15 = 78 watts. If this panel is used to charge a larger device, such as the power station, then its full output potential can be realized.

OMG LOL. Who thought this was funny " Are you going to power your home with artificial sunlight? No your going to use sunlight." I'm sorry, but that was just hilarious to me. The way he said it, the timing, the circumstances in which it was said...just loved it.

Just get a panel and a separate MPPT charger, and place the charge controller by the generator, you only have a single cable to connect in any case. Place the controller in a sheltered position so it is protected like the genset, keep it dry and away from exhaust and it will be fine.

I was fortunate, the investment did help make our home stand out in the market and thus sell easier...and my installation was done at cost...so I managed to make up most of the capital. I will cover ROI on solar in this series.

I'm trying to find the best combo of panels to power off grid a small rv...I think I'd like to try and do everything with 12volt because so much of the rv stuff is built on that platform including the fridge and ice box...do you know of anything that will power the A/C units and the rest of a small RV off grid? I've seen them for large houses and those arrays are 70k USA!!! More than the RV would cost by a factor of 10 easily. Any ideas? Great information in your video...doing a great service!!!

Hi, superb videos. I am having a free 3kw Solar PV system put in soon on a rent a roof UK scheme which is great as I have no money but I won't get any payment for feeding into the grid and I obviously cannot afford a battery bank but I was looking for some gizmo that could for example detect when I am feeding a preset level into the grid and then divert this to my water heater or even a small 700w room heater. Any ideas? I see Owl have a monitor but don't have any o/p's for switching.

Hi, I'd really like to know how you size an off grid system depending on the consumption of a house. With my bills showing 900 kWh used per month and 60-70% of this used between 4 pm and 9 am. How do I get solar panels powerful enough to recharge batteries used in the evening with 4 to 5 hours of sunshine the next day knowing that the 30 to 40 % remainder is used while trying to recharge? I live in Joburg and I'm blessed with a lot of sunshine but I'm still battling to figure this all out.

I just want to run an Aircondition unit ( 1 and a half horse power ) for 24 hours, using off Grid solar system in the Philippines. How many Panels I need to prepare, how big is my Battery Bank should be, and how much amp do I need for my battery charger. If you could give me the right computations I really really appreciate it, Please advice and more power to you.
