    Zak, appreciate your videos mate, no matter what you do right there will always be negative comments, I’m 25 years in the trade and understand exactly what you do, it’s such a pity that there isn’t more manual machinist willing to share their experience and priceless knowledge, keep up the good work and hopefully the next generation will be thankful to craftsmen like you

    Downside about where I work, most of our lathes don’t have a spindle bore wide enough for most jobs where you would have to bore that kind of length

    Wearing long sleeves while operating a lathe. you sir, are insane. Complacency around a lathe is a huge no.

      @@davidswing3385 you must have went to a school…. To learn machine work!! 2nd generation machinists.. running a machine since I was 13… haven’t had to even get stitches.. that’s a pretty good safety record. Thanks for watching.

      It must be nice working in a shop that ain't 20 degrees with the wind whipping through ya bloomers. I been turning iron for well over 40 years, common sense goes a long way.

      @@ptrlrasberry1 yes sir.. can I ask you.. a experienced machinist… do you wear long sleeves?

    • @ptrlrasberry1
      @ptrlrasberry1 Місяць тому +1

      @Zkutmachine usually a denim shirt or cotton duck, all 4 seasons. Chip guards slow down production and often become safty hazards of their own. Keeping the sleeves either buttoned down or cuffed up tight and good situational awareness, I've never even had a close call.

      @Zkutmachine Regardless of your experience with a lathe without injury, complacency applies to everyone. It's sometimes those who think it will never happen to them that it happens too. The amount of time you have invested into this line of work is irrelevant . That's like trying to justify texting and driving because you "never had an accident."
