  • Well, this certainly went on a lot longer than I thought...I predicted 30 minutes!
Very daunting, just hope it wasn't too shabby!
Had a good time though, thanks all. For enquires about the interviews, please email oldandautistic@gmail.com

Again, thank you Paul for your effort to put this live video out here. I can imagine this new experience was a fair wild ride with all the comments. I am glad you are feeling a bit better... All the best from East Texas Piney Woods 🤠

I just got diagnosed on Friday (in my late 30s). I am looking forward to watching the interviews with other late diagnosed autistic adults. One of the things that worried me about getting diagnosed was that I felt I still wouldn't be able to connect with and be part of the autistic "community" that is currently out there because it seems to be catering to younger adults who have different ideas from me of what life is about and the issues they highlight are very different from the ones I feel are needing prioritised for me. Good to see someone is going to be drawing attention to us.

Hello Paul! I'm late watching your live video because where I live there was a technical problem and we were without electricity all day. I wanted to see you live!! I waited all these days and just today I couldn't be there. I wanted to thank you for this effort, which you have made because the truth is that it makes me anxious just thinking about how difficult it must be... however you did it wonderfully and the people supported you in such a warm way. Good for you!! Greetings from Argentina!!!

I just discovered your channel today and find it so refreshing and honest. I am also an older late diagnosed person and your Darkside video about late diagnosis is so right on. I have always worked, I have children , been married and life has been more interesting than boring! But exhausting.
Thank you so much for putting yourself out there and talking honestly about having autism and what it means to your life. I certainly agree with you that the narrative that’s out there is not quite on track as far as my personal experience.
Thank you again please keep on sharing yourself so beautifully

I personally find your videos helpful and entertaining to watch. I haven't been diagnosed with autism or ASD. I'm waiting to be assessed. I have requested it but like you said in many for videos that NHS does need help. Keep the good workout and don't get too stressed over it.

Don't think I've ever watched live UA-cam! It was fun and I really enjoyed it. You were very relaxed - a natural, and you didn't seem phased by it at all. It was great to have you back and I think the time away did you good. Finally got with it and set up an account, so I'm able to use the comment facility now - yay! Happy Christmas, Paul. Enjoy your up and coming week off too. Julie

Just an honest question have you talked with a therapist,
I'm Autistic as well and suffer with depression as well.
Some group therapy can help unpack some of the extra baggage you carry in life. It's not going to necessarily cure your Autism but it I'll help prevent you from loading up your conscience with baggage ,baggage that only you carry.
Acknowledge yourself, we are not perfect, rationalize your thoughts and what stays in your head.
I'm struggling as well. I'm not sure I'll ever really be "ME" but my life is important and I need to continually fight me for my worth.
I've had some awakenings in my life that shook me clear for quite while. It didn't necessarily make my Autistic traits any better but I felt better. I learned a lot about myself.
Remember, Everyone wears a mask, you will occasionally meet people that are truly open and free and you will immediately feel their energy.
Remember not to assume your alone. Find a group.
    Find meditation
    Find aceptance
    Find You.
    Be well Paul.

    Hi Paul, great video again!
It is sad that NT people bully different folks. At school, later at work I was bullyied. Now I am 60+ and I am clean and sober for 18 yrs. Therefore I was addicted. I changed my life completely and here I am: 18 yrs sober and clean and a good citizen, is that an oldfashioned word? I am just a good person and I don't do any wrong stuff.
Despite my recovery and that there's nothing bad in my life style all my neighbours and others too keep bullying me. Worse is even that in my house has been 20 burglaries!!!!!! That is so mean. And then they stole some clothes. Just to make me even more scared.
The neighbours are very mean, they shout to me: crazy, idiot and whore!!! I am 60+ woman and I live a normal life without ever hurting someone or being noisy or whatever.
These neighbours also tell lies about me trying to make me look bad
What on earth is this urge that those people have to destroy me. I never done anything to them.
I tried to take my own life for some times. Now I am choosing to live.
I have now alarm and cameras installed and that's a good move.
Thank you for your videos!!!I think they are great!

As others have said, "You'll never be this young again." I try to think about that every morning. I lived 75 years without being labeled "autistic." So I'm an "adult with autism." I'm a lot of things besides autistic. At my house, we have breakfast, lunch, and dinner, unless I throw together something really easy, like canned soup. Then I say "supper" instead of dinner. I'm fascinated currently with the prehistory of the British Isles. Do you live near any ancient ruins? My son is much like you. He is only 43, and his job seems to exhaust him. He's a teller in a bank, but it's working with people that tires him. I worry about him. At least the bank job has weekends off, unlike his previous job.

"The verb waffle seems to have its origins in the 1690s as the word waff, "to yelp," possibly in imitation of the yelping of dogs. The word soon came to mean "to talk foolishly" and then eventually "to vacillate, to change." The food term waffle, as part of "waffle iron," appeared in 1794, a descendant of the Dutch word wafel, which comes from the same Germanic source as weave: it's easy to see the waffle pattern as similar to a woven fabric."
