I am certain my kids would not ever let this happen, but I want this one to be played at my funeral!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not joking but I want smiley faces there and this one is guaranteed to make everyone smile. I can't believe that thee were over 400 people who are so immersed in the daily little messes they call their lives that they would vote thumbs down on this. THey need help.
Hi , you are so correct in saying the younger generation do not know how to listen to music, among other things they choose to put on the deaf ear , listening is in the key of education and vital to be able to learn anything. Not being able to listen is one thing but choosing not to listen breeds nothing but idiots
The people who gave Thumbs down to this track are musically unscheduled. They cannot follow by ear the individual instrumental parts, unable to appreciate the skill of improvisation, impromptu harmony and the need of a Toute Ensemble to bring a climax . Rhythm means nothing to them. Thank goodness I'm 91 and lived through a golden age of Jazz Swing and Big Bands. As for this performance, pitch perfect to meet your Maker! End the funeral with a gig!
Tuesday evenings at the Union Hall, Union Street, Barnet was the place to be in the 1950's - cost 50p to get in to hear the best of Trad Jazz - Chris Barber - Ottile Patterson, Johnny Dankworth, Kenny Barber, Alex Welsh, Mick Mulligan, the list was endless.
I’ll regret to my dying day never getting to see/hear this marvelous group in person. I also regret not having the chance to express to Chris and his musicians my unending love for their musicianship. Great music from Great Britain.
Unvergessliche Zeiten. Er war und bleibt ein Juwel = Klenot.
What a wonderful sound, all their instruments all laid to rest now, weren’t they great. Thankyou u tube for letting us see great musicians at their best and may they all Rest In Peace. Jesus will be tapping his feet you can be sure of that. ❤
A great band, and always was. Amazing rendition of 'Greater Walk' driven by the bass of Vic Pitt. Do others think, like me, Vic is the best non-African American bassist of all time?
What a wonderful legacy you have left us . I saw your band when in England in 1962. My wife and I will always love listening to your music. Thank you . Ian and Shirley
saw Chris Barber and his band at the 100 Club in the mid 80's. Was walking past one afternoon, heard them playing and just went in. Was a wonderful, impromptu couple of hours.
Why have rock when there's this and other wonderful music? I've been waiting 60 years for rock and all of its offshoots to die out as most music styles have. But no, it looks like I'll die first. Love this stuff. I once owned a superb trumpet. I played trumpet but I wasn't a trumpet player. There is a difference.
What a tuneful medley! The clarinet man is my man> All blend so well. In deed the greatest swing ever. How come Chris Barber has hung in there for say seven decades! God bless him. The celloist is marvellous too.
Sad that we have not only lost Chris in 2021, but also Vic Pitt. Got to know all members of the band in 2000 when they visited NZ in 2000 then the addition of Bob Hunt, Mike Henry etc. Fantastic music and what a great legacy for us to enjoy forever.
Saw CB and co as a teenager, I'm now [83) when they played at the Fox & Hounds PH in Alperton Mddx in 1950,s Apart from CB outstanding was Pat Halcox. Brilliant night of Trad Jazz.\
I'm too young to remember Monty Sunshine, but I saw Ian Wheeler play with Chris Barber many times and, to me, his playing was just so deeply musical. A clarinet god as far as I'm concerned.
Takes me back many years . We used to spend Sunday Nights at Greenfield Jazz Club and saw some of the best Trad Jazz in those days . Music is a great gift . Ability to entertain millions is something we need to see more of and less hate .
Hi Willem, how are you doing. I hope you are safe and doing well. I'm Patti from California looking for a new friend and I saw your pic here hope you don't mind thank you.
Dixieland in seiner schönsten Form! Seit ich "Theorie is Wartung for the Sunrise" von Chris Barber hörte, bin ich ein Fan der Musik und von Chris Barber. Danke.

❤👏😊
The Fishmongers Arms Woodgreen when Chris went to the fore for me.
Mir geht es genau so.
Du bist drei Jahre älter als ich …

merci Chris Barber RIP,
Best UK Dixieland, by far!! 5:35 yeah take 'm home Chris!

Think they were as good as DSC????
The young generation do not know what music sounds like.

It’s up to us then don’t you think ,
Play it , just play it , That’s what got us hooked , It was always there Good Luck , Still enjoying ❤

The first tune I heared was Bobby Shafto, I still have my LP's.

The Chris Barber Band, with singer Ottilie Patterson, were regular visitors to the City Hall, Newcastle, in the late 1950s and early 60s. Happy days!
I was a lucky person I was able to see Chris in the 1959 s and have some lps
Wow! Inspirational. Right from the heart.
Just a closer, walk with thee ....
Spitzenklasse
It dosn't get any better than this - they [sadly] don't make jazz like this anymore
try listening to TUBA SKINNY
Das war die beste Band!!
Brillant
I’ll regret to my dying day never getting to see/hear this marvelous group in person. I also regret not having the chance to express to Chris and his musicians my unending love for their musicianship. Great music from Great Britain.

Saw Chris at the Festival Hall Kirkby in Ashfield ; as fresh today as it was then ; going back ; good times ❤
What a wonderful sound, all their instruments all laid to rest now, weren’t they great. Thankyou u tube for letting us see great musicians at their best and may they all Rest In Peace. Jesus will be tapping his feet you can be sure of that. ❤
I definitely want this song played at my funeral .

True

Prima band.
I my opinion it is the best, thanks for sharing
thanks for the marvelous poste a enjoyable take of this Marvelous classic
This band got me into jazz.. trumpet.. when I first heard them at the Wood Green jazz Club in 1954. Everlasting gratitude.
J adore
ça fiche un coup de le voir vieux, car je l'écoutais je n'avais pas 20ans, j'en ai 80
Bientôt 90 years…
Before I listened to this, my mood was somewhat ambivalent. I am now both jubilant and exultant. A thousand thanks.
I had the recording of Whistling Rufus, with Petite Fleur on the other side, Whistling Rufus had the same effect on me.
Lay off the haggis for far less ambivalence - on one side anyway. Can’t guarantee both sides
A great band, and always was. Amazing rendition of 'Greater Walk' driven by the bass of Vic Pitt. Do others think, like me, Vic is the best non-African American bassist of all time?
Bill Black
Gute Laune garantiert! Was für tolle Musik!!! ;)))
Thank God we were there to enjoy brilliance in the making. Great great music.😊
Great loss today March 2nd 2021, what an amazing career and influence Chris had in the trad jazz world.RIP.
As I
70 years for me ❤👏
Der legendäre Sound von Chris Barber……. Unbeschreiblich gut. Keine Party ohne Chris…❤
So refreshing, so foot tapping good.
From Rotterdam, Ahoy hall, 1959, until my last breath a fan
Díky moc, nádhera.❤😊
Fantastic is all I can say!!!

Oh wow❤ this is what life is all about. Such music❤
What a wonderful legacy you have left us . I saw your band when in England in 1962. My wife and I will always love listening to your music. Thank you . Ian and Shirley
I have always liked Traditional Jazz ,especially Chris Barber/Monty Sunshine etc., and I have a CD which is played often 🎼🎶🎼🎶🎼🎶🎼💃🕺💃🕺
cris barber the best
there is and there has never been anyone else
The reason they keep their eyes closed is to help keep the air in and keep their eyes from blowing outta their head.
What a wonderful band! This is simply that kind of jazz you must love.
Excellent band!!
That’s what you call JAZZ!!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🤗
Wow so glad I collect trumpet player here whole band pass fantastic appreciate
saw Chris Barber and his band at the 100 Club in the mid 80's. Was walking past one afternoon, heard them playing and just went in. Was a wonderful, impromptu couple of hours.
Chris is tops, what a band and that Clarinette player is something else....absolutely fantastic.
The clarinet player is Ian Wheeler.
Kdo zna ta zna. Moje staro srce je zaplesalo
Hvala vam, pravi ste za vedno. Bobnar amater, a s srcem Anton Penk

Hi hi
In case you hadn't noticed these guys are no youngsters...but they still have the chops...
My best compliment for this wonderful Music of My Most favorite Song ❤️!!!
What a tuneful medley! The clarinet man is my man> All blend so well. In deed the greatest swing ever. How come Chris Barber has hung in there for say seven decades! God bless him.
The celloist is marvellous too.
Thanks a lot Mr Barber. RIP.

Really lucky to see them live a few times. Pure magic, such a perfect balance
I'm too young to remember Monty Sunshine, but I saw Ian Wheeler play with Chris Barber many times and, to me, his playing was just so deeply musical. A clarinet god as far as I'm concerned.
M😅
I hope this song will be played in my funeral 🙏.
Absolutely brilliant Jazz Band, my late Partner and I used to share together many hours listening to Jazz, still love it to this day. 💯⭐👋👋👋👋
Very beautiful. I wish they had also played the dirge. I will miss Chris Barber's music, especially his trombone.
These disciples of Dixieland are good credit to it. Their take is marvelous .Baltimore,MD
At 84, it is great to listen, brings back memories when I played the frensh horn
What a show, wow!!!!
Great memories of this band in Battersea park
The spring on the gramophone was broken so we turned the 78 with a finger and used a blackthorn for a needle but we listened to them in 1952 ish
These blokes blow my sock's off, when they hit their groove, wow, just a closer walk to thee, thanks youtube.
superlativo
Awesome. Reminds me of my dad. He used to be in his element listening to Chris Barber x
Dixieland in seiner schönsten Form! Seit ich "Theorie is Wartung for the Sunrise" von Chris Barber hörte, bin ich ein Fan der Musik und von Chris Barber. Danke.
+Claus D. Freymann "Theorie is Wartung for the Sunrise"???
Sorry, es heißt natürlich "The World Is Waiting For The Sunrise" ...
Dieksiland wiecznie żywy danke
What a beat, possible the best version of Just A Closer Walk With Thee. Thanks for sharing.
Det kallar jag swing med riktigt ös!
Wow! Amazing! I could listen to these guys all day! Thanks for sharing!
+Friedhelm Westerburg good for you
