Came here to learn about the Saniflo - but walked away with so much more. Your detail steps in the dry wall finish was far more valuable. Your finish product looks great! Thank you for taking the time to explain each step.
Awesome man. Thanks for taking the time to document your experience. I'm doing right now EXACTLY what you've done in your video. I'm very good at home improvement projects but I've never built a complete bathroom based around the macerating toilet. Thanks. I had questions and you answered them. Nice.
Great video! I've been planning out my basement bathroom for a while now and your video really helped answer some of my questions! And like you, the only reason I'm building a basement bathroom is so I can remodel our only full bath upstairs.
Looks great, I did my shower last week as well, we chose to do tile instead of a surround but the key for me was making sure I had the right slope for the Saniflo. This was a great series I learned a number little tricks moving forward. Take care and god bless.
You saved my butt completely with this video, thank you ten fold.i was so stuck. I have a 77 inch floor to ceiling basement, my 2 inch trail was requiring a 9 inch base. Watched your video, went to 1 1/2 base and wallah
This was a great video. This is about how I need my bathroom in my basement set up and this video gave me a great visual of what to do. Especially with the ejector system. And saving the video for all the dry wall tips.
Hello there. All your 4 videos about this bathroom in the basement are great and really useful and informative, and thanks to you, now I will be able to do mine. But if you would have recorded and show how you conect it to the sewer line, that would have been a perfect and complete video, but congratulations anyways on your videos!!!
i understand why, in this video & in others ive watched, people have chosen to put the pipes through a wall or behind a while - it looks nice. i however am attempting this on an outdoor terrace - i will have exposed pipes until they lead inside my home. i live in subtropics so the pipes wont get cold - am i right that it can be done this way too? great video - really learned a lot thank you
Great video….. but when u pressure test the aupply lines be sure to bleed the lines so air can escape and water can advance to all the fittings and then check for leaks.
Great job! I am looking for this up flow for my basement bathroom. May I ask what the hight of you basement celling to the ground? Mine is 90inch, I hope it good enough for the shower base😢
Great work , I have learned a lot from your videos. I am installing the same thing in my basement. The one thing I’m trying to keep the height of the shower pan around 6 inch use in one and a half inch shower trap but I cannot figure out the connector to the shower drain if you can help me out with the Parts the name of it at least thank you.
Excellent video. One of the best ones I have seen on here, I’m about to build something nearly identical in my basement. I didn’t want the hassle of cutting or redoing any concrete. Is this method an acceptable use of the Saniflow? I just want to make sure for longevity. Thank you for making this video and thank you for your service.
Great video, thanks for explaining the process. I plan on doing something similar on my basement in a couple months. I assume if the macerator was located in a different room, that you could possibly not even hear the pump sounds.
@DIY JIM thanks for confirming Jim! Yes, I am planning to do just that. Can you tell me the horsepower of your macerator? I've seen a few models at 0.5 HP and one at 1HP and just wanted to get an idea of what has been working for you.
Years ago my wife and I used washing machine old water stored in lots of 5 gallon containers and we would leave top of tank off and poor buckets into tank to flush this was when our kids were young and the machine was always running .
es un video muy bueno yo soy contratista y soy sinsero nunca e hecho uno asi pero ahora en mi casa boy aser uno y estoy buscando ideas y este video es el perfecto muy buenoo🫡🫡
Here we Brazil, code does not dictate the minimum size for traps, and the standard trap size for a shower is 1.1/2". In my experience, that works well for a water flow rate up to 12 liters per minute (which would be equivalent to 3.2 gallons per minute). However, shower heads with a higher water flow rate may flood the floor when using a 1.1/2" trap. Is 12 liters per minute enough for taking a shower? In my opinion, yes. But some people may be annoyed by the floor flooding if you use a high water flow shower head with a 1.1/2" trap (as I've experienced in some hotels). So what I would suggest is: do not install a high water flow shower head if you have a 1.1/2" trap. And if you do not want to waste water, do not install them even with a 2" trap. More thant 12 liters per minute is unnecessary for taking a shower. But, if possible, use a 2" trap, because they are much easier to unclog if necessary. That's my 2 cent contribution.
Do you think the shower draining like that is due to the 1-1/2" trap and/or not being vented? I wonder if that's the issue more so than the height difference, almost like the pump would keep up a little better if the water was getting to it faster, but it drains just slow enough that it's almost backing up before the pump clears the line. Not sure...I guess it could just be the height difference isn't enough and could benefit from 1 more inch (as you mentioned). Would be an interesting test (but certainly not an easy one!) to see if a 2" trap or venting the shower line makes a difference. Now that this is 8 months+ old, any update on how it's working as-is when actually taking a shower with soap, etc.?
You're a great guy for all the effort made to record and post. Please tell me when you have a moment, how comfortable/uncomfortable is it to step up an additional 6.25" into the shower base, and then out again to the floor? Thank you!
@@DIYJIM I'm planning on building a tiny home on a slab, but don't wish to put plumbing below. Your video gives a great idea on how to plumb from an elevated shower base. A regular toilet with a 'closet bend' could also fit under a 2x6 base if I raised the entire bathroom. Then the 3" PVC could go out the side-wall and down underground, thus bypassing any under-slab plumbing. This would allow 'gravity-feed' to drain away without the need of an electric grinder/pump.
Sorry really not sure why it would take that long. Going to guess it has something to do with how your drains are set up. You did put a vent that goes to the roof?
I read online today, supposedly from a knowledgeable plumber, that 'Code' calls for a 2" p-trap, BUT will permit a 1.5" p-trap if construction environment (slab space) precludes it.
