I really like it when people who arent Metal fans actually listen to a Metal song with an open mind, like this guy just did. He didnt immediately dismiss it when right at the beginning the song starts off with screams. The beauty and the beast style vocals (screams mixed with cleans) takes getting used to, personally, as a Metal fan, i dont mind the screams but prefer clean vocals. This singer, Howard Jones is incredible at both. This reactor was very open minded and fair in his assessment. Would be interesting to see him react to a Sevendust video.... same genre, less screams basically. Theres many other bands that lean more toward clean vocals, that might be better for a first time listener to Metalcore.
Howard is one of my favorite metal singers, he wrote this song after losing his mother and it deeply hurt him as it would most people. The product of all that pain and his love for her is this song, thank you for doing a review of this song, it's one of my favorite of when Howard was with them.
Killswitch Engage - Reject Yourself. But honestly, you should listen through the whole As Daylight Dies album for your own sake. It’s full of bangers, hard to pick out a single song.
Killswitch Engage's most popular song is probably End of Heartache so you should definitely check that out. Also please react to a band called Fightstar. They're not metalcore, but post-hardcore. One of the UK's most underrated bands imo
Killswitch Engage are my favourite band and I agree that’s one of their most known songs, can totally agree with you about fightstar mate. Was never too keen on a lot of post hardcore but saw fightstar at Liverpool on a freebie lol was impressed by them live and started checking them out, totally underrated band!
@@quangorrchi5519 What I meant is they're not considered metalcore. They do have a few metalcore songs, like Deathcar, Sink with the Snakes, and Animal. They're a great band with an eclectic sound no matter what genre you class them as.
Honestly miss Howard. I know it’s a rare opinion but I felt more emotionally connected to his lyrics, doesn’t sound like the positive message is as “forced” if that makes sense.
First time i ever really listened to this was eerily right after my aunt passed away and her name was Sharon. Brought a sense of levity to the song and made me love it even more
I saw you digging it lmao! It's always fun watching people react to KSE for the first time lol. They don't know what to expect, but as soon as the head starts bobbing, it's over lmao!
One of my favorite bands! Thank you for an Awesome video. My recommendation for future Killswitch Engage songs are - Reject Yourself (w/lyrics), Always (official music video), Save Me (w/lyrics - not the music video, it takes away from the music), and Beyond the Flames (w/lyrics). Also try some In Flames! They are my favorite band!
Hard to go wrong with Killswitch. Try a song with Jesse as frontman. I recommend Hate By Design or Last Serenade. For more Howard: The End of Heartache, My Curse, their cover of Dio's Holy Diver, or Fixation on the Darkness (the album version is Jesse but there is a video for it with Howard if you can find it)
🤘🤘🤘 yesssss bro, their best album. Love love love Killswitch. Howard is a fucking monster. Check out some old Trivium or unearth. And I dont see anyone reacting to joints from the offspring either, I would say the meaning of life would be bitchin to react to
Howard Jones is one of the most amazing vocalists to ever fucking do it. I am not taking anything away from the band itself, those guys are extremely talented. With that said, Howard isn't appreciated as much as he should be. His range and all the different styles he can do. Absolutely beautiful to absolutely brutal, doesn't matter. I haven't disliked anything this band has put out when Howard was the lead, he is just one of those special talents that come along once in a generation. I mean that.
This song is about Howard Jones loosing this Mother Shayrn. That's why the Rose 🌹 at the end in the video very emotional feelings. You can possibly see Howard give emotion in every song. Check out Devil You May Know, Light The Torch
Love this song and the lyrics are really nice (for his mum who past away) A band I like that’s a little different- Skindred and song Kill the power. It’s sort of a reggae metal mix 👍
This singer, Howar Jones, is now in a band called Light the torch, Killswitch now has their original singer Jesse Leach, both of them are amazing. Try checking out Howard's new band.
More killswitch songs: end of heartache This fire My curse Holy diver (dio cover) Other metalcore bands worth checking out in my opinion: Parkway drive August burns red Breakdown of sanity As I lay dying After the burial All that remains Atreyu Bury tomorrow Phineas Avenged sevenfold ( waking the fallen album) Fit for a king Wage war We came as Romans Miss may I Motionless in white Upon a burning body Also a similar genre with more death metal influences is deathcore. Here are some examples: Suicide silence Job for a cowboy Shadow of intent White chapel Carnifex Thy art is murder Infant annihilator Chelsea Grin Rings of Saturn Winds of Plague My autumn That’s some of the top of my head so hopefully this gives you some ideas for reactions. Cheers.
If you really like Howard Jones (imo he is one of the best metalcore vocalist out there) you should check out his new band Light the Torch. Virus and The Safety of Disbelief are two of my favs!!!
You definitely need to check out killswitch engage - my last serenade. You also need to check out bullet for my valentine, trivium, all that remains, as I lay dying, the amity affliction, August burns red, devil wears prada, underoath, fit for a king, parkway drive, architects (I really suggest you check them out). Once you go down this path it will be hard to go back.
You wanna do killswitch and do a song no one does, do Arms of Sorrow...which is really wierd as its probably their best song ... top 3 at the very least.
The "New" singer is actually the original singer. Howard replaced him and then left because of medical reasons and then Jesse (the original singer) came back
You should check out another cool genre called instrumental prog - Watch/React to Plini "Paper Moon in North America" im gonna see them at the end of this month in Vancouver BC !!!! Great review, watch either "My Curse" or "The End of Heartache" for these guys next !!

Open your mind my friend. Give it more then a casual listen. I too love Howard, but he is gone... for now. The band is still the same, but with the original singer. Jesse is not Howard, but his melodies, screams, and lyrics are still amazing. Ask yourself this... if Howard was never part of the band, what would you think of the last two albums. My bet is most people would enjoy them. Much love!
Howard has one of the best metal voices ever.
EVER.
Absolutamente
His IS the best metal singer of all time. He’s gifted!
No lol. So much no haha

Yeah! THAT SONG IS FUCKING AMAZING!
My favorite track. But I agree hard to choose just one.
Reject yourself, break the silence, and for you were my all time favorites, but yes, I love every single song from that album hands down
@@YourAnimeOtaku I cannot stop listening to For You. The bridge or whatever part of the song that is, is the best part

🤣🤣🤣🤣

To be very honest, he looks a lot more like a bald 50 cent

Oh dude. Spotify recommended Fightstar to me a couple years ago. Really good
Fightstar is underrated af, especially considering Charlie Simpson’s music history.
KSE is amazing. They are very melodic. Not everything they do is this high energy.
The singer howard in this video is no longer in the band the original singer jesse is back in the band. I love both versions of this band.
Light the torch is his new band

great review. pls do "Starting Over" by Killswitch Engage.
one of my favorite song man. very emotional song.
Rhythm and Blues singers in the 50s/early 60s screamed like that live...
Such a lost era of music,
The "Chiterling" circuit...

This is one of the most freshest reactions I've seen. It pleases me that you enjoyed this song. KSE is awesome!
this song will always be amazing!
One of the reasons KSE is one of my fav bands is that as heavy as they are, their lyrics are very positive and uplifting.

Oh man, your patience and tolerance, even before the song starts, is commendable.
killswitch engage my last serenade
This song being about his mom dying, tears me up every time I hear it. It's so sentimental.
