If It’s rainy or cold outside or it’s the middle of winter, I find rewatching your videos makes for a better day. A reminder that once the colds over that springs on the way and the great rides done by yourself, can be enjoyed by all. This video is one of those to cheer folk up during the winter months. Great views and nice roads. Funny thing happed a few week ago. Bought a second hand bike, full ULTRGRA spec and was intended as an upgrade from the one I’ve got. Absolutely love it in every way. Got it home and thought “It looks familiar, and “I’ve seen this before I’m sure” Yep….. it was a Raleigh Revenio 3 in red. Looked back at your vids, and this one in particular, and there it is. 😂😂 Small world, and a lovely bike. Hello Steve, I hope your recovery continues and you are getting out, even if the weather has been a bit dreary recently. Thank you so much for your positive comments, they are greatly appreciated. It is refreshing to hear that you have got a Raleigh Revenio Carbon 3. I am a big advocate of them, they are a really well put together bike and are excellent value for money. I blinged mine up quite a bit from the stock model but straight out of the box, the Ultegra groupset and RSP bars, stem and seat post were more than good enough. The best weight I have got the bike down to is 7.3kg all in with pedals and cages fitted. You could get it nearer to 7.00kg with super light tyres and inner tubes but then it would not be as practical when riding on our heavy roads. I like the fact that they also kept the external bottom bracket on this model which makes life a lot easier. My Militis has a PF30 BB which hasn't been a problem but is means more faffing about to replace it. There was one for sale on Ebay in the red colour a few weeks ago, it looked like it was NOS to me. The paint has a rubberised texture to it and really "pops" out if you spray tyre foam on to it then wipe it off with a cloth, GT 85 also makes it shine but it will attract dust. Let me know what you think of it after a few rides pal.

@tazyt3388 the Romans were here and many others from thousands of years ago. There is a road, one of many, called the A6 which runs from south to north which is a Roman road in this area
Lovely video Daz, such beautiful scenery in what is one of the best places in the country to ride, I do love it there. The section after Wray looks like what I did in May, linking on to the Cross O Greet, those lanes were fantastic and wild with only the sound of sheep and curlew. I can remember a very steep bit through those woods at the start and then after the tops there was a beautiful winding road descending in to those woods. Looked like one of your best rides so far, ill definitely check out that Lancaster part as well as the cycle lanes looked really good, similar to ones in Argyll & Bute. (I can remember Silly Lane😂)
It sounds like you know this area very well and will therefore definitely appreciate it's beauty. It's difficult to get this across on camera but the clear blue skies really helped on this trip. I also have another video coming up soon where I link in some more of the Lancashire cycle ways around Lancaster
Nice route again. The Trough is amazing (There's often an excellent Sandwich van at roadside near the bottom of the descent?) , and good to get out to the coast. I've tended to go to the cafe on the main road at Caton doing this kind of circuit (usually from Settle), but next time will head out past Lancaster. Sunshine *sigh*. Yes - I remember that...
I know the mobile cafe you are on about there Andy and like you say, the Trough is a fab place to ride your bike through. Personally, I never tire of it. I also like to have the option to get out this way and sample some Lancashire's finest countryside, knowing the Yorkshire Dales are never too far away. 👍
That looks like a cracking ride 🙂 great video.(showing my age), as always Daz. I'm having a short break with the family in East Yorkshire soon. Hopefully get a good bit of scenery like you have shown.
Enjoy your vacation Di and keep an eye out for the occasional C2C rider if you are on the east coast. This ride was a good one , I must admit. We also had a ride out last week with a cyclist from Sale and he's invited us to do a tour around Cheshire soon . Take care Di..
Yes Billy, when your'e going down the hills it does get a bit fast. I thought that this route had it all and I have returned to this neck of the woods since....
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures I used to cycle a lot Daz on an old Raleigh Medal but it did have a Shimano 600ex crankset, sproket and chain with alloy wheels. Fastest I ever got out it was 55 mph down hill. For a heavy bike I thought that was pretty good. We were real speed freaks as kids cycling most weekends from Hamilton to Ayr and back around trip of about 85 miles.
The good old Raleigh Medal and I recall the Shimano 600ex as a kid too. I spent a few hundred quid on a Shimano 600AX group set with one of my first pay packets when I was 16 and my dad went nuts at me.
Thank you Jay, I didn't want to draw attention to the speeds on the descents in respect of Gino Mader who sadly passed away whilst descending in a professional race. I do enjoy a good fast downhill section on a ride but I guess we all have to take a measured approach when out on the open roads
That was a great ride Daz, some cracking decents on what looked like tarmac made from silk. Hope you are well. Life is a bit busy at the moment so im glad to getting time to watch your videos. Cheers
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures The Tour of Britain is starting in Altrincham this year, i'll definitely be going to see them set off. Fingers crossed the weather pick up a bit so you can get a real advantage of riding the cheshire lanes.
prefer that route from Wray to Cross instead of going from Bentham... the lanes are super quiet and really nice and open...lovely views, couple of punchy little climbs in there too!! Great video. These are my local roads (live in Alston) so always enjoy seeing good quality videos of people out enjoying it!
It's a very hilly place up over in Alston Nosh Feratu, I need to plan a ride that bit further north at some stage. I must admit though, I am really liking the cycling on this side of the hills and heading out towards the west coast.

Sure thing, I commute daily so have still been getting out but it takes it's toll on bearings and what have you. @@MrDazP1adv3ntures watched some of it live, then the missus wanted her tea making, what the hell, no consideration that one! I have 5 hours spare tomorrow so i might do some of that route. I certainly won't be feathering the brakes I will be gripping for dear life on those descents. Hopefully the floods will have gone by then.🚴♂
Be careful with the runoff from the rainwater on the steep descents Terry, they will probably resemble river beds. Have fun and let me know how you get on.
All clear. About 45 miles done over Harris End and then Quernmore, jubilee tower and through the trough and back home via Chipping (cracking sticky toffee cake at the cobble corner).Descents a bit technical for me to reach any speed but still a good ride .
Great ride mate, we love your posts, fantastic scenery and some cracking rides, cheers for sharing them. Always amazed to see the speed potential of a bike, do you run special pads on your brakes, and how is the stopping power on a fast descent?. Cycling is a brilliant way to travel as long as you can avoid issues with other transport. All best, good luck.
Thanks for the comments Greetb, I run a standard set of rubber pads on the calipers which are Shimano compatible and my rims are alloy bonded to a carbon body so the stopping power is pretty good yet the wheel weight is relatively low. You have to chose a different pad material when the braking surfaces are carbon on the wheel. It is all about reading the road ahead and a bit of knowledge of what lies ahead always helps when you are flying down a descent
Yes at last all those roads I know we’ll glad you’re finally experiencing the ones I enjoy , gutted Mike has missed out on this one . Yes that jubilee descent is very risky you need to break way before you think you do as it’s so easy to hit 50 down that , you know ur a local when you know the guy behind you at the cafe he’s in a band called solid silver !! , so on the other side of helks brow it was closed for a long time after the road fell away to the side but has not been re built hence you made it through, the highlight has to be cross of greet decent it’s brilliant love a middle of no where road . There a SIX roads out of wray & one of them is a very good dead end climb near roeburnscar that’s not even on google street view . In other news I just did only my 4th 100 miles from Lancaster to knott end then to devils bridge and back in 6 hours has good pace . Anyway thanks for the quality video cheers pal you made my day
Thanks for raising so many good points there pal. Well done on the 100 miler too. 6 hours ain't too shabby at all. Tell you what though, I turned right at one point on that long climb up Helks Brow in search of the secret road to the top of the Cross of Greet and then thought, nargh this won't be it, and it was. I checked on Google earth later. I turned around at a nice cottage on the lane. I totally get it when you talk about your cycling lanes up here. They are tough to ride on but if you're fit , they are all doable with a smile 😉
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures they are so good and little known which is good , it’s a good alternative to Yorkshire or the lakes and also I recommend visiting in the autumn as the colours 🍂 are stunning . Sounds like you will visit again for sure maybe a reverse route . I once did a hilly loop around there and got over 6200 ft in just 42 miles with at least 8 climbs ! With very few flat parts .
Thanks Mark, A video like this one takes me about 4 to 5 weeks to put together in my spare time. I would like to be able to put more content out there but that's where I am at with things at the moment. Thank you Gordon, if ever you fancy a ride out over this way let me know, I'm sure we could sort something out
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures That's a good idea. We'll do that at some point - my long days out have dried up due to 'other stuff' and I'm grabbing 3-4 hours where I can, but a tour of Bowland in the future sounds great.
Ok Gordon, it would be a pleasure to meet you, but go easy on us, we don't want any of this 25 miles an hour malarkey lol
We will have to sort something out for sure.
Brilliant mate 😊

@@MrDazP1adv3ntures certainly is a beautiful place daz so much history you get to roll past too
@tazyt3388 the Romans were here and many others from thousands of years ago.
There is a road, one of many, called the A6 which runs from south to north which is a Roman road in this area
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures thats just incredible
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures only been a few times, but I do a fair amount of research in to routes and try to check out new roads and hidden lanes
Yep, all received and I know what you mean.
I'm always looking at the maps for ideas too.
good video daz can u fast forward some of that weather to now haha
I wish I could pal
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures cool nice one. Might see you out and about 🤪
If ever you do just shout out ...
Brilliant run mate looked quite fast at times. Brilliant weather and sceenery.
Nice video daz cracking views and that video editing..Cant believe you didn't tell us what your Max speed was 😂👊🏼
Thank you Jay, I didn't want to draw attention to the speeds on the descents in respect of Gino Mader who sadly passed away whilst descending in a professional race.
I do enjoy a good fast downhill section on a ride but I guess we all have to take a measured approach when out on the open roads
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures ah right ok, i respect that daz. Fantastic till your next one 🚴♂️🤙🏽
That was a great ride Daz, some cracking decents on what looked like tarmac made from silk. Hope you are well. Life is a bit busy at the moment so im glad to getting time to watch your videos. Cheers
Hi James, all is well at this end and I hope you are well too.
I still need to get a ride planned out around Cheshire ...
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures The Tour of Britain is starting in Altrincham this year, i'll definitely be going to see them set off. Fingers crossed the weather pick up a bit so you can get a real advantage of riding the cheshire lanes.
I never knew that , thanks 👍
prefer that route from Wray to Cross instead of going from Bentham... the lanes are super quiet and really nice and open...lovely views, couple of punchy little climbs in there too!!
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures ah sorry, Alston near Longridge, not the one over in North Yorks Pennines, although you've just reminded me i've not been up that way for a long time either!! hahah
Yeah, F.O.B is such a gem for daily riding, quite a bit of variety really, super easy to head over to the dales aswell...Lakes not too far either but I usually drive up to Lakes tho so I can spend my legs up there...good scones up there pal!
That Alston, we did a ride on the B 6243 road the other week after a stop at Roots cafe. We rode through the Trough from Wigglesworth all the way to St Michael's on Wyre
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures I usually take the two parallel roads to B6243 (forty acre & Higher Lane then drop down Birdy Brow), some great views/climbs on those roads and the B6243 gets a bit busy out of Longridge. Too many dickheads in cars about these days.
@Nosh_Feratu yes I know what you mean.
There were some brand new sections too which were not on my map
Brilliant Daz 👌
Thank you EHQ, have you been getting out ?
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures only short ones recently, weather has been really poor, I had to go through a bit of flooding Monday morning, water was over the axles 🙄 just doing 25 mile training rides really to keep the legs turning over, I'm guessing you'll have had your share of wet weather
Sure thing, I commute daily so have still been getting out but it takes it's toll on bearings and what have you.
We dodged some really bad showers a few weeks ago on a cracking ride out and made it back to the cars with 5 mins to go before all hell let loose.
Fair play to you for keeping the legs spinning over buddy
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures thank goodness for winter bikes 👍👍
Yes pal, I can't believe the winter bike has had 3 weeks out in July 👍
never tire of your videos daz much so better thanall these so called influencers. do miss mike tho lol
Hello Steve and thank you for the kind words, they are really appreciated. On a positive note, Mike will be making a return to the videos on the next one.
I couldn't possibly comment on other cycling related channels but I know where you are coming from.
We can't even get a sponsorship from Bury Black puddings lol. But on a serious note, I have never looked at UA-cam for gain or profit or to become affiliated in commercial sponsorship. I work for a living and really enjoy sharing my experience for those out there with like minded interests. It's another part of the hobby at the end of the day.
Will be watching, I will put it on the big telly!
Ha ha, Nice one Terry, I'm watching the TDF right now. Catch ya later.
Lovely jublee Terry, we cycled passed the Cobble Corner the other week and it was shut but the Farm Shop opposite looked inviting.
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures Thanks for the reply appreciated.
We haven't tried a cafe in Bentham yet and I was looking at routes from Gisburn or Whalley to Grange over Sands.
You do some great routes, should do more if you get time, I’m not confident enough to do long distance anxiety takes over if I don’t know where I am 😂
Thanks Mark, A video like this one takes me about 4 to 5 weeks to put together in my spare time. I would like to be able to put more content out there but that's where I am at with things at the moment. On a positive note, I have about another 4 rides to edit so that will keep me busy through into Autumn.
I know what you mean about being far from home and not knowing where you are though....
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures I’ve just purchased a garmin edge 800 off ebay as I’m doing a ride from Leeds to burnsell in a few weeks, way out of my comfort zone but going to give it a good go, look forward to seeing more of your routes 👌
They are a good GPS.
Go into the menu as you are cycling along and programme towns near by.
Press where to.
Search tools
Cities
Then type in a known place.
Then ride.
I always read a map of the area I want to explore so have an idea of where I want to be, but the garmin is really good at helping you find quieter roads.
There will be a menu for what kind of route choice you want too.
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures thank you for the tips, I’ll try it when I do the ride on 9th august, might video it too for UA-cam
My advice on editing would be to find some software that does it for you lol. It takes such a long time to put things in order and to tell the story on a time line.
Nevertheless have a fab ride Mark.
Hi mate great video can I just ask which garmin you have
Hi J, I use a Garmin Touring 100 unit.
It's not wireless or Bluetooth capable but does a good all round job for what I need and is relatively cheap.

@@MrDazP1adv3ntures impeccable timing!! 🙂
