I was searching for a female Javert and, god, I am so glad I've found this! I love the barwly restricted emotion in the first part and the way you waited a bit for the change of key with "even so" and, deer lord, the final notejust about killed me. Thank you for such an experience! :'))
You absolutely _nailed_ this! Like oh my god! The bewildered, defiant anger on the first part! The fear and desperation ramping up as the song gets closer to the end! The way that your delivery of "He has killed me even so" elicits the exact kind of "oh crap!" response that it should- I know this is like a year old, but it's one of the best performances of this song I've ever heard. You've just nailed it.
Thank you so much for this!!! I am a soprano and this year we did Les Misérables in my high school. I literally admire Javert so much and I told my friends “I wish there could be a gender swapped version of Les Misérables so I could play Javert” and Javert is literally my dream role I love him so much 😭 (I’m also 4 years late 🙁)
The last note is perf. You deserve more likes and subs. Really gives me inspiration, though I'm a soprano (and I' m 15 and still have a childish voice) and sound ridiculous singing such a dramatic, dark song. I'm probably most suitable (by voice and personality) for Cosette, but no. I have always dreamed of playing Valjean or Javert. Aaand... just this, I adore this and your voice.
Irina K. Thanks for the kind response! I like the male parts better as well in Les Miserable!! Do you have video’s on UA-cam? I would love to hear your voice!!
@@shiraanonymous4991 Tahnk you! Nope, I don't have singing videos. Too shy, because I learn singing online since like 2 months and have a lot to learn.
As a 39 year old female, I’ve always wanted to play Javert since I was a little girl, and have belted this song out in the mirror hundreds of times….thank you for this! I cried. Beautiful!
I keep wondering if I should should upload my own version of this, as I am a professional singer. But I really do love the recordings this track has brought out in this sort of community. I love your choice of final note. I haven’t looked you up, I just had a notification. I just hear some sort of Scandinavian accent. My first guess would be Swedish or something of that area. Anyway, beautiful job. And I’m sorry, I forgot to mention your straight tone on “reprieved.”
Wow so cool that you have listened to my version! Thanks!! Please record your version of this! I think many people would like to listen to that! Thank you for this instrumental version, its very nice!!
Who is this man, what sort of devil is he? To have me caught in a trap and choose to let me go free? It was his hour at last to put a seal on my fate Wipe up the past and watch me clean up the slate All it would take was a flick of his knife Vengeance was his and he gave me back my life Damned if I'll live in the debt of a thief Damned if I'll yield at the end of the chase I am the law and the law is not mocked I'll spit his pity right back in his face There is nothing on earth that we share It is either Valjean or Javert How can I now allow this man to hold dominion over me? This desperate man that I have hunted He gave me my life, he gave me freedom I should have perished by his hand It was his right It was my right to die as well Instead I live, but live in hell And my thoughts fly apart Can this man be believed? Shall his sins be forgiven? Shall his crimes be reprieved? And must I now begin to doubt What I never doubted all those years? My heart is stone but still it trembles The world I have known Is lost in shadow Is he from heaven or from hell? And does he know That granting me my life today? This man has killed me, even so I am reaching but I fall And the stars are black and cold As I stare into the void Of a world that cannot hold I'll escape now from that world From the world of Jean Valjean There is no where I can turn There is no way to go on
This is incredible! Are you familiar with The Scarlet Pimpernel? I'd love to hear your rendition of "Falcon In The Dive". Especially the "Encore" version.
