I managed to shorten the procedure a little . Loosen but don't remove the spark plugs . ,remove the cam covers , turn the engine as shown here , but get a flash light, & get the cam lobe pointing away from the lifter., ( egg shape facing directly away from the valve lifter, the skinny part at the top or outside) .It takes a bright light & a little neck craning, & you'll have to keep track of which ones you've checked ., but you won't have to take off the wheel, or fender, or the timing plug, or support the front of the bike, unless you insist on checking a whole bunch of valves at once by using the timing mark method.
