    1. Great evasive attacks / Kenpo stance

    There's no hidden about it. He was already pretty good and could really force you to change the way you play. He's now one of the most buffed characters in S4 and the last patch. The auto block on back Kenpo actually used to last longer before they nerfed it in S2. I remember some of the moronic complaints about that nerf at the time. His ranged heavy punishment is still terrible though and his WS launcher is a bit wonky and will just miss sometimes.

    When a game has a lot of characters, some are not popular. To improve the pick rate the company buffs it, but because of the roster/meta/players people dont see it as strong, so it keeps being buffed and unused in the background until somone discovers him and omg he is busted.

    Hello, I haven't played Tekken in YEARS, I'm talking since Tekken 3. I've been binge watching TMMSWE lately and I've noticed something. You guys know how in basketball, coaches shorten their rotation and only play 7 or 8 players instead of 12 in the playoffs? I'm finding pro players only use 10-15 moves out of a character's given move set. I watched TMMSWE's recent ranked online play with Dragunov, and he is using the same 7 or 8 moves for Dragunov. Is this intentional/meta? Do pro completely disregard moves deemed to be unsafe, negative or low percentage and only use 25% of the move set or less? Same with Kazuya. EWGF over and over and over like he doesn't have any other moves...

    • @rastafari2k3
      @rastafari2k3 3 роки тому +2

      Yeah, some moves are only used in combos, at the wall, as punishers etc based on their properties. Some moves just have too bad frames/range/utility to be used in the neutral (when both players are facing each other in poke wars :D).

    • @tomassmits581
      @tomassmits581 3 роки тому

      Usually characters have around 50-150 moves and most of the time the majority of them around really worth using and even more of them aren’t really competitive against very strong opponents. For example, snake edge moves are usable in some circumstances against players who can’t react to them, but against good players you will just get launched. There are a lot of moves like that and it’s a good thing they exist because they add more layers to the game/character. High level players like tmm however only really use moves that work at their level and for most characters there are a lot of moves that aren’t really viable or worth using, except for very specific situations/matchups or when you’re trying to surprise your opponent.

    • @Transfixion
      @Transfixion 3 роки тому

      @@tomassmits581 Interesting. Lots of the upper tier and high usage characters (Mishimas) are so optimized that I imagine alot of players have similar playstyles. I'll probably pick this game up next year but I'll probably main Yoshi and Bryan. I love how expressive a player can be with Yoshi's his unorthodox moveset. From my understanding, his normals are pretty weak but he has some of the most diverse options and situational moves and unblockables in the game which inspire creativity.

      @@Transfixion yeah if u want to be able to use many different moves, i would say yoshimitsu is perfect for you. He doesn’t have the best ‘conventional’ moves but the fact that he has so many options makes him unpredictable and that’s where his strength comes from.

    I think the new df4, 3 string does wonders to his wall and pressure game, also giving you more distance control and oppotunities for combos all around. In tandem with the db3 CH and sabaki parry buffs, Feng has become very strong indeed. Still, he is complicated to use effectively since his moves are very situational and require you to integrate his toolbox creatively, a bit like Lei in that regard. He has clear weaknesses, particularly relative to some DLC characters that are just OP.
    I'd say he is right outside of the top-ten: Akuma, Fakhumram, Lidia, Julia, Zafina, Geese, Leroy, Marduk, Steve, and Devil Jin are all above him imo.
    He is right there with the next echelon: Paul, Kazuya, Bryan, Master Raven, Alisa, and maybe Bob are around the same level as Feng. I personally think Eliza is very underrated as well, but I know I am in a minority position there (what Abel del Maestro and Arslan have shown with her is scary). But yeah, when you see what specialists can do with Feng it is a thing of beauty: Hao, DreadPrince, Titan Thor...

Those lows and parries penetrated my Byron's ghoulish body most of the time and being a cyborg didn't help xD Couple of hours of frustration got me uninstall T7 soon thereafter. Having db3 on counter setting u up for a 50/50 is an issue. It’s -15 but hellah good. Played so many primes using feng and it’s online so how do I deal with the 50/50 if u can’t block properly lol. I agree
    Feng wei has always been a strong char imo... The evasion the toolset his wall game and mixups etc.
    Only thing that was holding him back in previous seasons was his poor combo tools and specifically conversion flexibility (db 1 4 recovered like sh*t !!!) Which made his no wall combos somewhat weak compared to the rest of the cast.
    This has been directly addressed TWICE through updates with a new servicable screw attack and new float combo ender/wall ender
    Oh yes and directed damage buffs to his key combo moves also helps :)

Feng has multiple moves that are so busted they almost seem like accidents 😄Qcf1 being unlowparryable and only -14, (meaning as a Zafi player, the most i get is an incredible wr4 punish everytime) in addition to uf2 being effectively safe and having complimentary tracking to some of his other moves alone already take the cake for me

    Yea i also tell people like all the time how good Feng probably is. The most weird part is that people say his punishment is somewhat lackluster until i tell them he can launch most safe strings which hab a punch in it. He can 1+2 sabaki Heihachis second hit of his RD for example because its a punch and launch him for that. So as Hei you are actually never allowed to do a RD in Neutral. You must be aware of a lot of things when fighting Feng, especially never retaliate with a punch.
    I also wonder why people always think that Feng got OP in S4. Feng always had those tools and was always evasive AF. Db3 becoming a counterhit move in S4 is less of a deal than his increased damage and was always good anyways (he didn't need that CH property on db3 though).
    Overall he became better, yes, but not overwhelmingly changed throughout T7.
    BUT as a Feng main i wish for some moves to get a tune down. I really dislike the CH on db3 because it acutally kills momentum. It just gives you additional damage, which isn't really needed.
    Against experienced players Feng starts to struggle when trying to BS too much because you get stepped pretty easy. Most of his chunky moves are very linear and have bad recovery, so you gonna stick with db3 and df1 a lot which will make you very predictable.

    • @sola7099
      @sola7099 3 роки тому +1

      His normal block punishment is pretty decent but his ws punishment is pretty bad tbh. I don’t think he’s changed too much, just people forgot how good his moves were due to lack of players. He still has his awkward weakness of needing to be close to get things going while having his strength of having a shit ton of evasion.
