The Ten Perfections: #3 Renounce What Does Not Serve You, with Jonathan Foust
Вставка
- Опубліковано 21 лют 2021
- This talk explores the potential of mindful renunciation.
You’ll learn how critically important it is to know what is most important, cultivate the thoughts, behaviors and actions that will bring about that outcome and as well, identify and modify the thoughts, behaviors and actions that get in the way of that outcome.
In the Buddhist tradition, the teachings are considered so precious as to be priceless. Thus, they are given freely with the invitation for participants to offer voluntary donations. Your support is the fuel that helps me continue what I do. If you’d like to make a donation, please visit www.jonathanfoust.com/take-ac...

One of my favorite talks ever. 💕This one for me was life-changing. We say Yes to life by understanding our Nos first. Wow… Listening for a second time today. Renunciation does not seem so far fetched anymore. Thank you Jonathan 🙏🏻
So glad you enjoyed it and found it helpful, Yeni! I’ve enjoyed this reframe on renunciation in my life. Best wishes to you.
💜🙏
I love all your posts! This series is just what I needed to hear at this time in my journey - Thank You!!!
Thank you for letting know! This helps me stay inspired. Blessings to you!
Thank you so much for encouraging saying "No", which I guess is difficult for many of us and for reminding that there is a "Yes" behind it. All the best, Grit
Thanks! Yes, that distinction has made all the difference for me. Best wishes!
I love that picture of you kicking your heals up in what is likely Truro (I am sending thanks and loving presence from Brewster)
Longnook! Thanks, Sharon! Looking forward to being back up in your neck of the beach soon!

Thank you so much for the teachings, Jonathan!
Thank you. It's a pleasure!
Jonathan.
You have been a nurturing guide in helping me to find my YES !
And you 'take care' also......
May you be happy, well, safe and at ease
Thanks so much, Colette ... Blessings in your practice!
I have waited for this with my morning coffee for 2 weeks :) Glad you are here, thank you for the talk.
I raise my cup of coffee in your direction, Mohsin! Grateful to share this connection and best wishes!
Thank you for a way of streamlinibg the thousands of 'tasks' we seem to accumulate on our life path. It can be overwhelming. One tricky thing i would like to explore is how I can distinguish what I truly feel drawn to spend my life's energy on and the actions that are closely aligned to this, but not exactly so, and how they can therefore subtly distract me. For example, I want to take people into wild places for their own healing and also because the more people love these wild spaces, the more chance there is of protecting them from development, but because I like to be with people and listen to their stories and hate saying no, I end up getting distracted into other activities such as attending meetings and conferences about saving wild spaces instead of getting people INTO them where the work really happens and we arent just talking. I will remember your helpful pointers on how to focus so that i don't stray into closely related but distracting actions!
Thank you for your response and thoughts here! Sorting all this out is so challenging as there are so many shiny things out there! I find the phrase, "If it's not F*** yes, it's F*** no." Graphic and crude, but powerful words to live by! Someone told me they could save me about $30,000 in entrepreneurship seminars by this: "Figure out what you do best and love the most and don't do anything else." Same thing and perhaps a bit more eloquent. Best wishes to you as you follow your heart's calling!
Thank you Jonathan. I am working through the 10 Perfection Teachings. This one that I will have to come back to because the middle 20 minutes was quite complex. Renouncing what does not serve is difficult for me because I have invested in some of those things and I have a perception that I have done well with them. Thankfully I am not materialistic my investment has been measured in time spent and commitment rather than money spent. Perhaps when I have listened to the other 7 teachings this one will become clearer, all part of the jigsaw puzzle I guess.
It all comes down to integrating the paradoxes, doesn't it? Renounce, but engage. Relax, but be alert. Be diligent, but patient. Powerful teachings ... and I'm happy to be sharing them. Thank you and best wishes!
