    Lecture begins at 1:38
My new ebook “the silence of the drives” revolves around a seemingly simple question: “if the unconscious speaks (through dreams and slips), then why do the drives remain silent? This is what Lacan calls “le silence de pulsions”. If you’d like to read the ebook, it’s available here: www.patreon.com/julianphilosophy

Please note: there will be no patron-seminar on discord today. Jenaline is on a family vacation in a remote area without internet. And undortunately I do not have discord myself. We shall resume our weekly sessions next week.
Thank you very much for your understanding, and hopefully someone will see this and tell the others on discord.
      Julian

Is there actually a drive that “drives” them all? I think all the described drives result from the mind’s ability (desire?) to imagine voices, gazes (dreams?), etc., again, based on what the mind “knows” about the world (see monsters/nightmares that exhibit, e.g, human-like features , as if actually and actively filling in the void-the unknown-in a reactive way against the experience of the unknown? So the particular drives could be the sub strains of the mind’s “screaming” desire to “counteract” the pull/pressure of the void and thus its own annihilation.

TIP: Maybe right at the beginning, mention to what "drives" you are referring.

The video "The Silence of the Drives" appears to focus on a discussion about data storage devices, specifically hard drives, and their mechanical and acoustic properties. The content likely covers how these devices operate, the sounds they produce during operation, and possibly the significance of these sounds in terms of device health and functionality.

Julian can you please be a bit more mindful of how you pace your lectures. Time is needed to absorb concepts- sometimes you go at a real break neck speed and it’s frustrating to listen to.

@@SunnyOddny He can be more mindful- he also speaks very quickly. It’s off putting. But thanks for suggesting the obvious .
