Nice! I think this is the best looking aftermarket exhaust for the FZ-09 available. Now all you need is a ECU flash from Stoltec to smooth the throttle, and install a Dynojet and get a Dynotune. Then you will be in business!!!!!!
There is something with naked yamaha bikes and their finish. It's not until you see them in person you notice they are just a little more neat/tidy and well polished off compared to others brands.
Hey FLuxx, great video! I have a quick question?! I have a 2016 FZ09 and just purchased the Akrapovic Carbon system, anyways... I was wondering if you replaced your exhaust gaskets when installing your new headers? I was not sure if it was necessary/highly recommended or not? Thank you!
when you installed this system did you need to install a power commander or anything of that kind to make it run smooth with the system or does the ECU adapts itself after some time wich i heard in another video.
Great sounding Exhaust..... Really enjoying all your reviews on the mt/fz09 have you modified the suspension yet ? looking forward to that update..... hopefully soon ;-)
1. Thank you for warming up your engine b4 revving the piss out of it. 2. Sounds like a twin. I'm just not a fan of it. I've also heard a two bros and that disnt sound great either. To me the perfect exhaust is an r6 with a two bros BUT I would still rather have this bike over and R6. Sports bikes are uncomfortable and to me it just doesn't get any better with the FZ-09. All black with gold forks and blue rims, absolutely stunning bike.
How many hours did it take to do the installation? Did you have to send your ECU to Stotech Moto for the re-flash? I just purchased a 2014 FZ-09 and I love how your bike sounds. Do you get any popping out the exhaust when your riding? Thanks!
Amazing sound man WOW! Did you also add a PowerCommander on this? or are you running it as is after the install. If so have you noticed any performance change? with or without PC? Thanks!
You think the ECU would need added fuel management if the DB killer was installed, or you think the ECU has enough fuel adjustment range using the O2 sensor? I love the look of this exhaust system, but don't want it super loud - a bit louder than stock is what I'm looking for. Your description of the noise level with the DB killer installed sounds about what I'd want.
Nice vid. did you have any problem getting the DBkiller out of the pipe? I removed the allen head under the rubber plug and I couldn't budge the insert. I didn't want to get rough with the Titanium, it scratches and bends easily. I do like the sound with it in, but I wanted to check it out open.
@Fluxx43 you have a new 2016, did Yamaha change any of the suspension settings from the 2014? I am really considering this bike, however I have read some older articles saying that in stock form, the suspension is way too soft.
i know its been a while since this video, but now it's my turn to buy this exhaust. i was wondering if you installed the version with catalytic converter or did you go catless? would be great help if you answered, thanks!
Did you you have to tune for the exhaust? Thinking about buying an fz 09 with this same exhaust already installed but not sure if it's been tuned to the bike or not. Help would be great!
I'm thinking of getting this for my FZ09 and appreciate an honest review finally! I do believe it's loud with the DB killer out, but it can't be any worse than my Streetfighter S with full Termis so I'm ready. What did you use for the ECU tune? Powercommander?
Enjoyed this and your other videos! It's now been a year...are you happy with the Akrapovic on your FZ09. I'm currently considering getting an FJ09 and installing this same Akrapovic. I assume that you use this system with the DB killer?
Great review, as are your other reviews on this particular bike ... seriously thinking about this as my next ride, but just can´t decide between Honda´s CB1000R or the MT-09... Just subed .
Did you have the back lights support upgraded or did it come like this from the factory? Looks nicer than on the corporate website, but not sure if you changed it. Thanks for your input. Awesome sound by the way! :)
It does sound awesome. I am still considering an Akrapovic for my UK MT-09 but nobody ever seems to do these sound clips with the DB killer still fitted. I don't really want the "brutally loud" option but is it worth the price of this exhaust system if the DB killer stays in?
Again it was my opinion. I think the Akra offers the best of both worlds. I find the DB killer out to be very very loud. I personally when wearing my ear plugs have no real issue with it, but without is pretty painful... at least for me
Hey im grabbing this for my 07, when you took the db killer out was it easy for you to put back in if need be? I read a comment that said you were in carlsbad? Im assuming in ca? If so im in san marcos, just wondering how it is with the popos? Do they bother you cause of the sound?
acuevas87 Never had an issue with sound, Im in San Diego. The DB killer is a bit odd to remove, and putting in just required proper alignment. That being said its not to bad, ive never had an issue.
Any chance you would mind doing a fly by video. I have not been able to find one anywhere yet. I have been looking for someone with an upgraded exhaust to do one. Plenty of start up exhaust videos but nothing really letting you hear it go through the gears. Doesn't have to be anything crazy (unless you want to ; ) ), maybe just from stop up on a quicker road and one from already moving and getting on the throttle a bit with up shifts and downshifts. If you are able thanks in advance if not no worries.
I plan on getting one of them. Question. When u switch back and forth from db in and out. Do u notice anything Or does the bike act the same Or does it run bad with it out compared to in. Like u said there was no tune for the exhaust. Just block off plates. I have a 2015
I think i missed the part, but do you have the DB still installed in your exhaust or not? this is the sound of your bike with or without DB's??? by the way, sound really badass!!
is it necessary to installed a fuel controller with it to make the air-fuel ratio rich or ECU will adjust itself automatically? I would really like to hear from you?
Just out of curiosity, will it affect the warranty? In India this thing is one the most expensive middle class supernaked bike (second only to MV Agusta Brutale 800)
Mostly cosmetic, carbon has a different routing and sounds a bit different. Some say higher peak HP. I'd go with which you like the looks of better. Personally I like the location of the titanium better, but for track use I'd consider the carbon
jawknee21 I had an ECU Flash done by Stoltech Moto, it however was not adjusted for exhuast. With the Titanium Version nothing is needed from what I have been told by Akrapovic
Did they design the down tubes with all that room between them and the motor for access to something in there. Others have posted they like the 2 Brothers because they fit closer to the motor. What are your thoughts on that?...Local dealer has FZ09 for $9,420 with this exhaust on it. Worth it or should I do it myself and save some change?
This exhaust I believe is about $900 to $1,000 and since the FZ-09 is $8,990 to start with so I think it would be better to buy it straight from the dealer!
I noticed you have the yellow/red Akrapovic logo on there; does that mean you got the system through a 3rd party as opposed to Yamaha dealer which have a black engraved logo on them? Also, does the yellow/red logo fade from the heat?
Thats correct. Yamaha will only do the laser etched cans for manufacturer direct exhaust systems. As far as im aware, Yamaha does not offer the system in the United States through dealers, only third party.
Did you remove the AIS system (i.e. emissions block off plates)? I ask because there were other videos of the FZ09 w/ Akrapovic and lots of flames. I'd hate to start a forest fire while running through the canyons..
***** You need to rejet your carbs or install a PC with any exhaust. The AIS system needs to be removed to prevent emissions control systems from injecting fresh air back into the exhaust system. The fresh air is supposed to burn of unspent hydrocarbons and causes backfiring/popping on deceleration. It also burns up your exhaust packing.
Travis Quine To answer your question, the Akrapovic Titanium system is designed to be emission compliant in Europe, thus requires no further ECU tuning. The Akrapovic Carbon system is the race system and is also cheaper then this system, it produces more horsepower and torque and in my opinion would be the direction I would go after using both. The power commander is not my choice in systems, I dont like the Power commanders in general as unless you are going to get a custom dyno tune, they are so so. That being said the FZ09 has so many excellent ECU flash options that are much more reliable and ECU tunes offer more adjustability that makes for a better overall tune. The flames you see are caused by those running EU tune or aftermarket ECU PCV tune that causes it to run more rich, thus resulting in unburnt fuel going through the exhaust and igniting causing the flame you see.
This is how all exhaust sound videos should be. Bravo.
I finally found a video where someone revved this bike like a man. Nice sound
Anthony Perugini haha thank you
I saw this bike at Angeles Crest Highway and it was flying through the Canyons. I was impressed.
Man, that thing sounds incredible! Nice choice... bike and exhaust.
You're one of the few that pronounces akrapovič correctly. subbed :)
That sounds a lot better than I thought it would. Thank you so much for this vid!
Ericksson Cepin My Pleasure!
awesome exhaust and sound bro....
I love the sound of triples.
Would love some riding vids with the new system, thanks for the vids.
I can't wait till im old enough for a bike like this.. Dammmn
Its beautiful i want one!
Sounds awesome, one of my favorite triple sounds, not as nice as my V4 but a close third..
Amazing sound
hopefully we get to see the drive by soon
Wow! Sound Great!!
Sounds amazing!
benjamin reynolds Thank you
Sounds fantastic
Nice! I also enjoyed your reviews of this bike alot!
***** Thank You!

Allaluca Thank you I love it
What a fantastic video
I'm starting to like motorcycles. It sounds great!!
Been riding for a month. best thing I've done for myself in a long time.
sounds great man!
Great video! Very informative!
There is something with naked yamaha bikes and their finish. It's not until you see them in person you notice they are just a little more neat/tidy and well polished off compared to others brands.
***** Its a really nice bike
Holy sh*t it's awesome.
Thanks!!
Looks and sounds fuckin awesome bro. Much better looking than M4, Two Brothers, or Yoshi.
Mick Jigger Thank you, and I agree.
I think it sounds perfect bro..!!👍
***** Yea I like it
sounds sweet!
awesome! subbed. Did you do that ecu re-flash? or can you up the richness with the onboard?
Hey FLuxx, great video! I have a quick question?! I have a 2016 FZ09 and just purchased the Akrapovic Carbon system, anyways... I was wondering if you replaced your exhaust gaskets when installing your new headers? I was not sure if it was necessary/highly recommended or not?
Thank you!
sounds nice n clean.
Blake Dogg Thank You!
when you installed this system did you need to install a power commander or anything of that kind to make it run smooth with the system or does the ECU adapts itself after some time wich i heard in another video.

this exhaust looks so good against other models.
What is the model of the tankwrap you have there??
thanks nice clip!
Amazing sound man WOW! Did you also add a PowerCommander on this? or are you running it as is after the install. If so have you noticed any performance change? with or without PC?

We need more! Make a riding video!
How did you change the tag and blinkers in the rear?
@Fluxx43 you have a new 2016, did Yamaha change any of the suspension settings from the 2014? I am really considering this bike, however I have read some older articles saying that in stock form, the suspension is way too soft.
Sounds so much less like an angry bee than an I-4. Love it! I'm holding off for the Touring version FJ-09.
Did you keep the FZ in the end? Was is the dream bike after all once you got the new suspension?
i know its been a while since this video, but now it's my turn to buy this exhaust. i was wondering if you installed the version with catalytic converter or did you go catless? would be great help if you answered, thanks!
is the 3 cylinder whine preserved in person? i can k8nd of hear it on the video but i'm sure it's better in person.
Did you you have to tune for the exhaust? Thinking about buying an fz 09 with this same exhaust already installed but not sure if it's been tuned to the bike or not. Help would be great!

How would you compare it to the carbon version?? Which would you say if its better?
Did you have the back lights support upgraded or did it come like this from the factory? Looks nicer than on the corporate website, but not sure if you changed it. Thanks for your input. Awesome sound by the way! :)
All i have yo say is NICE BIKE
I have the same bike and same exhaust. I have the full titanium. I get popping when I rev it up like that. Any suggestions? I run ethanol free gas 91
Sweet baby jesus that sound is one of a kind. How much did the full system cost?
So was it just bolt on or do you have to do any sort of fuel mapping or anything??
How is the heat on your foot on long rides, does it get hot?
Hey Fluxx! What's the best tire to get in your opinion for FZ-09?
Nasty snarl!
Are you using smog block off plates ?
An amazing sounding bike. But, I do prefer the look of a Yoshi. Akrapovic have the most beautiful sounding exhausts out there.
Thanks to your video. I'm thinking about to buy the tracer with this one..... SOUNDS AWESOME!!! Many thanks Fluxxx
Abel Tomás Cela Anytime, thanks for watching
In this exhaust's quietest configuration. If it's volume is a 10 on a 1-10 scale, where does the stock system lie? And in its loud configuration?
Hi man, can I use your video in my next fz09 video compilation?
I will give you full credits in description.
Thanks in advance.
Do you have a link to this exhaust i got a 2016 fz09 and after seeing this im sold on it i was huge on the Yoshimura r77 till i saw this 100% sold
Why if you have a flashed ECU no backfire? Would it make backfires if the ECU is not flashed?
It does sound awesome. I am still considering an Akrapovic for my UK MT-09 but nobody ever seems to do these sound clips with the DB killer still fitted. I don't really want the "brutally loud" option but is it worth the price of this exhaust system if the DB killer stays in?
Again it was my opinion. I think the Akra offers the best of both worlds. I find the DB killer out to be very very loud. I personally when wearing my ear plugs have no real issue with it, but without is pretty painful... at least for me
sounds sick, how much for the kit?
Hey im grabbing this for my 07, when you took the db killer out was it easy for you to put back in if need be? I read a comment that said you were in carlsbad? Im assuming in ca? If so im in san marcos, just wondering how it is with the popos? Do they bother you cause of the sound?

dont have to hear it, Just believe it, awesome
I plan on getting one of them. Question. When u switch back and forth from db in and out. Do u notice anything Or does the bike act the same Or does it run bad with it out compared to in. Like u said there was no tune for the exhaust. Just block off plates. I have a 2015
evan steeves Of course noise with change significantly. The the DB killer out you changes in fueling, but very slight.
Do u need a pcv with that exhaust ?
Any idea of the weight saving by switching exhausts? Being full titanium I would think its fairly good. Thanks for the great vids!
The akra system, only has titanium muffler, the headers are 304 stainless
is the whole thing titanium or just muffler?
nice sounds...did you put dynojet commander power v? because i wanted to buy same as your exhaust..
Joanne Locando I am running an ecu flash by FlashTune.
Did you need to remap the ecu
can you make a video with db killer ???
Where did you get the side tank stickers/protectors?
They are made by Tech Spec
So I want to run this exhaust without the db killer for a FJ 09 will I need a fuel controller or power commander?
I had a tune by FT ECU
Are you going to install anything for the fuel mixture like a PC or ECU flash
I have an ECU flash already
Fluxx43 Im curious what ECU flash you got because I haven't found any that have a tune for the Akra exhaust. Stoltec?
is that a three cylinder? sounds class
I think i missed the part, but do you have the DB still installed in your exhaust or not? this is the sound of your bike with or without DB's??? by the way, sound really badass!!
I missed it too and had to watch again but at the fifteen second mark he said the DB killer is removed for this vid.
With the DB killer in, it sounds almost like stock, which kinda sucks because I like the look of the rocketpods DB killer.
is it necessary to installed a fuel controller with it to make the air-fuel ratio rich or ECU will adjust itself automatically? I would really like to hear from you?
I would recommend getting your ECU flashed by FT ECU
Just out of curiosity, will it affect the warranty? In India this thing is one the most expensive middle class supernaked bike (second only to MV Agusta Brutale 800)
Did you intall block off plates? (noticed that on another vid:)
Yes I did
Are your forks bent or is it the lens of the camera that is showing them as bent.
Pretty sure it's the camera.
+ItsRud1 Yeah its the camera, its FOV(Field of view) is set way to high and give the sideeffect called fisheye view, everything is distorted.
How can you remove the db killer? I can't get it out even I drilled, cut, etc its still stuck! my db killer is trash and still stuck. :(
Nice video! What kind of stand is that?
Are pit bull stands good? Looks solid
What's the difference between this exhaust and the full carbon one?? Please
Mostly cosmetic, carbon has a different routing and sounds a bit different.
Some say higher peak HP. I'd go with which you like the looks of better. Personally I like the location of the titanium better, but for track use I'd consider the carbon
did you do anything else for the exhaust? remap or tuner?
jawknee21 I had an ECU Flash done by Stoltech Moto, it however was not adjusted for exhuast. With the Titanium Version nothing is needed from what I have been told by Akrapovic
+Fluxx43 amazing bike men and amazing sound i wonder how much the exhaust cost you

alot!
look at the first picture of the bike
