In this video I will take you from Nizhny Novgorod's city center to its neighboring city of Bor which gives you a much better picture of local life in Russia. Glad you enjoyed the video! :)
Suddenly there are a lot of Russia YT video content creators but yours and Graham Phillips are the best. Your comfort on camera, wonderful speaking voice and editing stand out.
I have visited Nizhny Novgorod a number of times by train from St Petersburg, my adopted home of 20 years, via Moscow to Nizhny Novgorod. A new high-speed day train is being added soon that really will cut the time. My visits were in spring and summer and it looks very different than fall. In the summer, Russia is very lush and all the foliage changes how it looks and sounds, with bright flowers everywhere. The biggest influence, however, is the river. The beaches that run on both sides for many km seem to attract most of the city population. Nice clean sandy beaches, with lots of friendly people eager to meet strangers. I also got the worst sunburn of my life there by falling asleep after a long swim. That night I had tickets to a classical concert and the trip home the next day were very uncomfortable. That was my last visit 5 years ago so your video reminded me to return. It is not a small city so everyone one needs is there but feels like a small walkable city, low cost, historic and friendly.
If you make it back to St Petersburg offseason, let me know, I can show you what living in and walking around a city teaches during 20 years. I have a small incoming tour business for cruise passengers, who do not need visas if they book a tour with us, so have any museum or palace tickets if you want them.
The food seems to be a common theme in your videos and it is a common trait of Russia. In the last 15 years, the quality, variety, and creativity in dishes has exploded, and foodies will love it. Even in small towns, the creative menus are really welcome. Since so many Russians are passionate able foreign travel they bring back an appreciation of different foods and styles which translates into dishes in their own cafes and restaurants. Moscow and St Petersburg are real dining adventure destinations now, with it harder to find a boring or bad meal than any place I have been in my native US. San Francisco and NYC and maybe Montreal was considered the North American food destinations for a long time but now the interest in the creative use of quality ingredients has spread but few if any can touch the two Russian capitals now. Since I moved here, 13,000 new restaurants and cafes have opened by chefs and which have 4 or 5-star reviews on Trip Advisor. Dropping in random neighborhood cafes creates a new favorite almost every day..
Thank you so much for the support and suggestions! So glad you've found so much to love in Russia. It really is becoming such a rich travel destination. All the best!
Good morning from Miami, Florida Alina. Great video! 🌹

I love seeing those old Soviet mosaic arts. 10:45
in Russia, movie watch you!
Hi Alina! Your Russian language is so clear , so pure! No accident! I believe you do have Russian roots . Nizhniy Novgorod is my native city. I was born there, studied at the University, got married, gave birth to a son. Now I live in Phoenix Arizona. I have been living here for 12 years. I like your videos so much! You did a great job! Thank you! If you are in Phoenix, we have a lot to be attracted for filming.Grand Canyon, Sedona, Flagstaff, many interesting places.
Hi Alina I love your Vloggs....... Novgorod is beautiful City
There is another Novgorod in Russia, and you point to that Novgorod by omitting "Nizhny". Some of FIFA World Cup fans did same mistake in 2018. Imagine the disappointment.
Thank you for the lovely visit to Nizhny Novgorod and Bor. Lovely little towns.
Beautiful city and love the cafeterias.
Hey lovely, sorry I'm messaging you by just commenting on here but unfortunately it didn't show an email to reply to from the paypal you sent. Thank you SO MUCH. You are so kind and didn't need to do that. Absolutely no worries about the airbnb thing. I think you'll still get the discount if you use it another time. If you're up for it I'd love to send you a couple postcards from Ukraine to say thank you! Just send me an email when you get the chance and we can chat directly there. Sending you lots of love! xx
Three years old but still new for us very impressive vlog
Your channel brings back fond memories. Thank you.
What a beautiful little city! Thanks Alina for the tour!

Alina, another great video. I used to ride the bus to work everyday for almost 20 years. It always amazed me how few people talked to each other, sadly, most stayed on their phone the whole time. I think it is refreshing to see how different cultures are with families and how much they value communication with each other and not text each other while they are sitting next to each other. Have a great day and keep being your own kind of wonderful! Love that!
Вот тоже замечательное видео про Нижний ua-cam.com/video/ALt0sSNjcy0/v-deo.html

Loved watching this!
Wow! I really enjoy your hard work! Thank you for everything.
Fantastic video! I like the vibe of this city- very laidback and relaxed. You did a great job explaining the local cuisine and filming AMAZING views from the cable car! Looking forward to your vlogs from Moscow 👍🏼
Glad you liked it! Cable car ride is insanely well priced for the views!
I loved your work, I learning a lot things about this city. Spaciboo!
Excellent video. I loved it!
Great job Alina!
I like your videos, they make me want to go to those places.
Merci d'être venue à Nijni Novgorod (Thank you for coming to Nizhny Novgorod).
It's so amazing. I'm grateful for your traveling.
Such a beautiful country, I love the communities like that too. Thank you for sharing my sweet friend. Safe travels to Moscow.🌷
Thank you!
Beautiful scenery and also the music you use just matches
I really love your vlogs, please keep up.
Beautiful city! The pizza looks delicious too! Thank you Alina!
Great video about Nizhny!

I have been to Novgorod in 2019 but because of time limitation on a tour ,wasn't able to see a lot of places. This video is able for me to watch some places I have not been able to see ,so thanks for that coverage.
The Mosaic on the movie theater @10:50 was epic! Soviet art on buildings is always impressive.
yep and btw there're a lot of instagram accounts abt that, just check things like "soviet modernism" through the seek in the app
wonderful place.and excellent comments thank you so much.
Great video, Alina! I've really been enjoying your Russia series. Hopefully if I'm lucky enough to visit this beautiful country, I will definitely be using your recommendations. Also: your filming and editing skills are great! I like the simplicity of your videos and really appreciate the subtitles/translations/context that you do in each one. Can't wait to see the next instalment! Love from Toronto!! :)
Thank you so much :)
Again Alina, as always, beautiful song selections....they are not very well know in general and I love it !!!

It was nice to see the food especially in the pizza restaurant and fun to see the cable car ride. The city walk was interesting. Maybe I go there next winter!

You should visit Pushkino, outside Moscow. It has a neat market. The train leaves from Yaroslavsky Station.
The Kremlin Tour is amazing too.. you get to see Peter the Great `s treasures and many other beautiful things there too.
Just landed here on my FS2020 trip, fascinating to learn about these places as I go.

This city is so perfect, I don't know why but something in my heart feals rigth at looking it, I need to go.
Great video, nice background music song
Thanks for showing us a more balanced view of Russia, Alina. Living in the Netherlands means that you are and have been bombarded with television shows from the United States all your life. We don't usually see much about Russia, there are exceptions, of course, we had a great series called from Moscow to Murmansk which was a joy to watch. But your videos capture something of the new and the old Russia viewed by a young person who has experienced this transition herself.
That makes me very happy to hear. Thank you!

Beautiful vlog Alina..you have got spectacular voice..:-)
I have loved so much your production values....just street scenes, some special places, restaurants and cafeterias and the food costs, and panoramic views. I also like seeing your face or your hands making the screen occasionally. You put together really good travelogues
Thank you!
I liked the video, I hope to visit the city soon.
This soundtrack is beautiful
It's so beautiful. I have to see it in person.
That pizza look really good. Who would have thought you don't have to go to Naples to have Naples style pizza! Thank you for another lovely video.
Вот летом в Нижнем ua-cam.com/video/ALt0sSNjcy0/v-deo.html
Very good video ❤
Very nice video.

Best video, the music makes me feel amazing, the scenery is very good, Russian culture, I like it, reminded me How the Steel Was Tempered, love you.
I'm surprised I've never heard this song before. So good.
What is the title of the song and name of the artist?
Beautiful place.

Good fences make good neighbors and sadly that is the way it is in Canadian cities. With remote control garage door openers we just drive in to our attached garages and never talk to our neighbors if we even see them.

I always assumed the "Kremlin" was sort of like the White house but apparently I was wrong because it's looking like every city has a Kremlin! Good video
Kremlin basically means fortress. If I remember correctly now we in Russia have 14 protected kremlins, and before there were dozens
@@user-en2uq3si2h thanks for the clarification!
I am pretty sure that every city in the US also has some white houses :)
Алексей Мосягин a more accurate term would be a citadel, as a citadel is designed to fortify the city and protect it’s leaders. A fortress on the other hand is a lot more vague and usually built in strategic places to prevent troops/navies from ever reaching the city in the first place, for example the numerous forts built on the islands out side the city of St. Petersburg such as fort Alexander.
That being said citadels do exist in the new world as well, most notably in Quebec, Canada and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
In the Middle Ages, cities were surrounded by fortified walls. That is, each town was the kremlin. The aristocracy and common people lived inside the kremlin mixed up. Over time, urban areas appeared outside the fortress walls - such districts were called posadas. At this time, the aristocracy was concentrated inside the walls (inside the kremlin) and the rest of the people lived outside. Later, the aristocracy began to build their palaces outside the kremlin, and inside the kremlin there remained the highest aristocrat of this area and the bodies of state and church administration.
At first, the fortresses were wooden, then they began to build from stone and brick. In many cities a dilapidated wooden kremlin was demolished, and a new stone one was not built in return because of the need for it that had disappeared by then. Since time, the stone kremlins has also deteriorated, and many of them have not reached our days.
