There's a good chance the text was converted to a compatible format :) There are some writers who prefer old PC word processors to write since old PCs offer less distraction (UA-cam, web surfing, auto-correct, etc...) then copy the file to a modern PC for editing and vice-versa. It's pretty cool!

My senior year of college I was taking an operating system class, (modifying a copy of Minix). The professor was always surprised that as Computer Scientists that only a few of us knew computer history. A survey was put out asking the ~100 Computer Science students if they would be interested in a Computer History class. A large majority (>70%) said they saw no need to learn about obsolete tech. That was a long way to say that I like your response about Computer History.

I recall finding your channel a few years ago along with Techmoan and the 8-Bit Guy and was amazed at how many subscribers and viewers each of you had...thinking to myself, wow, there’s a big market for retro gaming and electronics! Loved this! Hope to see more 1-on-1 chill vids like this in the future too. I know this is a few years old now, but I've enjoyed all your calm, "Come chat with me" style videos. Peace, man!

I’ve since turned this into a monthly show! Each episode is done in this Q&A format and about an hour long each, it’s available on the LGR Patreon.

Maybe not your cup of tea, but would be really fun if you dived deeper into more obscure retrocomputers similar to the SGI video you made some time ago.

I wanna celebrate& praise you for the time you just took a break. It must have been difficult to do that for several reasons. Including the way the algorithm punishes not uploading. I remember that video - I was a little sad cuz I was watching you pretty hardcore, but I appreciated how important it was to take care of yourself.

Can we expect another collaboration/ a "let's play together" (uh, that sounds wrong...) with PUR at some point in time?
That's how I discovered her channel, and I'm glad I did (and I re-watched organ trail way more times that I'd like to admit :p)

I think that when someone releases a video 30 minutes long, which only features fan's questions and that someone's answers, you're doing all right - what ever it is that you do. Thanks, Clint! We all enjoy your stuff!

I'm just glad that the data leak didn't detrimentally affect you...
I would think that a Tech Tales video on Apple, once it finally goes BOOM, would likely be a three hour movie, lolz
(with how things are going at the present, I don't think that will be too long from now...)

    Adding one question:
In your older videos you were always the invisable narrator.
When and why did you make the decission to step in front of the camera?

    • @LGR
      @LGR  5 років тому +13

On the contrary, the very first LGR video had me in front of the camera :)
It's more that I moved away from being on camera later on, then moved back into it again as I got better equipment.

LGR, have you heard of Assassins Creed Origins observation mode? some schools actually use it in education because it gives you a historical tour of Egypt and information about the points of interest you visit. There is no attacking, you just freely wander around and learn things. I think that's the current state of edutainment in 2019. I hear they are about to include a observation mode in Assassins Creed Odyssey this fall as well.

6:41 That kind of hit me a bit. The fuzzy feeling we get with Commodores, Ataris and Amigas, that probably won't be possible when the Switch and XBox One kids grow up. Why? Because the services that run all of the game on there won't be available... You'll be able to buy an XBox One for sure. And you can fire it up in 20 years from now. But it will probably boot to a "no server connection" and that's it... Nostalgia-blocked. That makes me so sad for the future grown-ups.
I guess the 80's kids like me really did come from the golden age of future-proof nostalgia.

I have a certain amount of nostalgia for the GTS in Pokemon Diamond & Pearl. I went back to those games a few months ago and was a little heartbroken that it was gone. Hopefully those crazy coding wizzes will find ways to make them work in 20 years

Very cool Clint, enjoyed this Q&A! Only one question from me (as a new YT'er myself), where did you get your inspiration to make your first YT video? OK, one more.... How long did it take before you realized that -yeah this YT thing is starting to take off? Love your work! Thanks again even if you never see this message buried in here -lol
