  • I needed to lay some electrical cable from the front of the bike. I remove the side plastics to give me a cable run.

    Thanks for the video, I really appreciated it. Had to remove the right panel to replace the silver part under the logo. An apparently easy task that took me 2 h...

    Once again, you have helped me immensely!
    I haven't taken my plastics off in two years and your video saved me frustration and probably dollars.
    I have told you before that I will buy you a beer at the Creemore Springs Brewery when you are in the neighbourhood. Now you can make that two!
    Cheers from central Ontario. 🇨🇦

    Hi Terry! Thnx for all your vids. And efforts. I hope your small LEDS will last a bit. I had those on my GS. After about 3 years they died. So you know.
    Keep it up! I ride a T1200 since july 2020, and I love it. Grtz from the Lowlands.

      Hi Bas, good to know you got three years out of them. If they were dearer I would be worried but at that price I wouldn't mind so much. I wonder if by modulating them I shorten the life, don't know for sure. Glad you are enjoying the T1200, it's a weapon alright. Many thanks.

    FYI if you box clever you can use solder wire and thread it through without having to remove anything as I did when fitting my Tom Tom to the Evotech sat nav bracket

      very handy, yes, I can imagine that's possible alright. My wiring from the new lights wasn't that long unfortunately so I had to make a cable join half way under the tank so I had no choice. I don't think I would of been able to pull the connection through without it snagging.

    I use a steel guitar string when pulling cables through, nice and long and flexible. Use a top string as it is braided so the tape has something to grip 😊

      Johny 5 - great idea, especially when you need a little extra length, I was on the limit with my cable tie.

      @@terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff anything I should know regarding removing the tank? Is it just unbolt and remove gasoline?

    • @terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff
      @terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff  3 роки тому

      @@Jason-cp9ks I have not taken it off Jason. There looks to be a drain on the left hand side and it looks like you need three fuel line clamps to seal it up before complete removal because of the balance line.

    Hello Terry. Love your videos. Very informative. Do you have a vid on tank removal for an air filter change?

    • @terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff
      @terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff  3 роки тому +1

      I do not I’m afraid. I think I have see a video on UA-cam for the Explorer air filter which will be quite close.

    Thanks for the info, much appreciated. When you connected the LED lights do you have some sort of switch to enable / disable the lights?

    • @terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff
      @terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff  4 роки тому +1

      Dean Swanepoel - I have a power distribution module which is only live on ignition so they come on with that. It would be easy to insert a simple inline switch if I want to isolate them, I might do that yet but have it under the seat.

    I have a gen 1 explorer and I want to take my radiator cap off purely to visually check the fluid level. Anybody know if this is possible by removing just the side cover? I really don't want to take the entire tank off just to check the radiator coolant level. Can't seem to find any answer to this question online...

      This video is getting a bit old now Craig. Pop over to www.tiger-explorer.com/ and you will find a bunch of great people on there who can answer.

    There are no free accessory connectors at the front of the bike right ? So if you want something to power a GPS you would have to do this and run a cable back to the battery - is that correct ?

    • @terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff
      @terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff  4 роки тому

      Yes, unless you want to tap off the front power port which is a 10A rated "always on" connection direct to the battery. I was actually running the cable back to an electronically fused power distribution module.
