I bought the first, earlier version of this lens about 40 years go. It was probably 15 years old ten. That lens was limited to F 8.0 and usually came in a Syncho-Compur shutter. For medium format, its 35mm coverage equivalent is about 21mm. In the US, many of these originated in the Graflex XL system, which was a disaster, but had great lenses. I had mine custom mounted for my Galvin MF view camera, the excellent job being done by Jim Galvin, the maker of the camera. Even using a deep recessed lens board, it was a tough bit of work to get access to lens controls, but came out fully functional. Lens coverage was more than adequate for 6x9cm, plus swings/tilts and a surprising amount of rise when shut down.
Thank you for your interesting story. This particular lens has been customized with the addition of extensions on the controls so they are quite easy to operate. As you mentioned, the coverage is more than adequate for 6x9. With generous coverage, it is an ideal lens for architectural photography in tight quarters. I will be testing it to see if there is any serious light fall off on 6x12. Always nice to hear from you.
Hi Richard, first I would like to thank you for the tips on accessories for fitting the digital camera to the HorsemanVH. I found it for the GFX. I would like to know if this 47mm Super Angulon lens could be used on the Horseman VH. Do you think it is possible? Thank you very much for your attention and for your always very interesting videos.
That is a very interesting question. I haven't tried it but I don't see why it wouldn't work. I believe you could move the lens close enough to the film plain but working the controls might be tricky. Keep in mind the VH lens boards are smaller than the standard Linhof. Only one way to find out. I'll try it when I return from my trip in a few days...might make an interesting video?
@@richardmasseyphotography In fact, as you suggested in the video about the Horseman VH, also test the adapter for digital cameras on the 6x9. Motivated by your videos I bought a VH and a Nikkor 105mm F5.6 lens on Japanese Ebay. I really appreciate your kindness in sharing your technical knowledge. Have a good trip!
Hello, Richard. This is very interesting lens. I hoped to see a photos made with this lens, because I own Super Angilon 47mm f/5.6 in a Prontor press shuter. I made some photograps with it on my Baby Graflex Century Graphic 2"x3", but never used shift and tilts although the camera allows some. The image from this lens is really great. Hope you share some photographs it should be exiting!
It’s all brand new to me; and very interesting indeed. Thank you, Richard 👍
Glad to hear it and thanks for taking the time to comment.

Thank you for your comments. I'd love to see some of your images. In the near future I will do a detailed account of the lens with several images.
