Can't believe it will be 10 years this year. I remember the cynical dreading a very embarrassing ceremony, and pathetic after Beijing 2008. That was impossible to out-do on scale & money, instead we had a very unique ceremony - and i think so much (British) humour throughout, not just the Queen/Bond but also Mr Bean, and the closing ceremony also Eric Idle. Genius!

The story that gets me was when the Queen was at Balmoral and walking on the estate escorted by a police officer one day, when they encountered some American tourists staying in the next property. The first clip, when she says "I'm still alive" to Martin McGuinness. Martin McGuinness was a very high ranking member (allegedly) of the IRA. He was a member of Sinn Fein, the political wing of the IRA. An organisation that murdered her Great Uncle, Lord Mountbatten and would have attempted to kill her if they could. So that "I'm still alive" was not just a funny comment it was a very direct jab at him.

Take away the pomp, the traditions and the stiff upper lip, and the Queen is like everyone else, she has problems like we do, she loves, she loses, yeah, she's worth a bit due to the role obviously, but born into a job she never asked for, but does that job sooooo well. But she's human like everyone else, and at certain times, the royal curtain falls for an instant, and you see the real her... And she seem like a real good'un, she marches on through thick and thin, and some of the stuff her family put her through, she needs to award herself a medal just for that alone.
Bless her, she's been the UK's constant rock for all these years!
May God save our Queen :) 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

The Queen has a great sense of humour! One day many years ago she's out walking in the Scottish countryside around Balmoral, accompanied by some security officers. An American couple vacationing in Scotland are out lost on a hike, and at some point they cross fairly close to the Queen and her entourage. The security guys are cautious but they allow the couple to approach within shouting distance without incident. "Hi there, are you from around these parts?" the husband shouts across the moor to the Queen? "Well," she shouts back, "I have a house near here." "Oh, so, have you ever met the Queen?" asks the American. "No," replies the Queen, grinning, and pointing at her security officer she adds; "but he has".

The scene where the Queen was leaning over the bannister was from a reception where one of the guests had got stuck in the lift when it conked out between floors. She was watching the resulting panic.
As for the Queen's language, there's a story that when she visited a prison early in her reign, the Governor (Warden) was worried that she might overhear some strong language and felt he had to forewarn her. Her reply was that she was the daughter and wife of sailors and she didn't think she'd hear anything she hadn't heard before.

The queen is known to have quite a wicked sense of humour. Not surprisingly a very British one too. The guy sitting next to her at the horse race was not a member of the family but her horse trainer. I don't think she has actually travelled outside of the country since about 2015 when she went Malta. These days because of her age other members of the royal family carry out these foreign engagements on her behalf.

The "guy sitting next to her" when Estimate won The Gold Cup was NOT the trainer of the horse, who was Sir Michael Stoute. The man in question is called John Warren, who was her horse manager. The Queen was fanatical about horse racing, especially flat racing (whereas her mother was very much into National Hunt (jumps) racing. The Queen had many horses under her ownership, and, it is said, would read The Racing Post (the national newspaper devoted to horse racing) on a daily basis. Ownership of her horses was transferred to King Charles on her passing, sadly he does not seem to have the same passion as her.

Who is funnier, the Queen or Boris? Easy. The Queen is legit a legend.
She once met the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, where she heard that in his country women were banned from driving. After lunch, the Queen had asked her royal guest whether he would like a tour of the estate. Prompted by his foreign minister the urbane Prince Saud, an initially hesitant Abdullah had agreed. The royal Land Rovers were drawn up in front of the castle. As instructed, the Crown Prince climbed into the front seat of the front Land Rover, his interpreter in the seat behind.
To his surprise, the Queen climbed into the driving seat, turned the ignition and drove off. Women were not allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia, and Abdullah was not used to being driven by a woman, let alone a queen. His nervousness only increased as the Queen, an Army driver in wartime, accelerated the Land Rover along the narrow Scottish estate roads, talking all the time. Through his interpreter, the Crown Prince implored the Queen to slow down and concentrate on the road ahead.
That's right: Queen Elizabeth basically spent an afternoon using her military-grade driving skills to haze the crown prince of Saudi Arabia.
    Result: Elizabeth 1, Abdullah 0.
Meanwhile the racist, homophobic, humourless, crass, sentient turnip that is the Prime Minister is being investigated for 16 seperate violations during lockdown, one immediately after the Queen had needed to sit alone at her husband's funeral due to the laws Boris had passed but was actively breaking himself.

The Queen is funded by the taxpayer it costs each person about £3.50 - less than a Starbucks coffee. She is very good value. She has been in a few UK visits in the past year and no foreign trips for sometime - she sends Charles or Prince William instead
You might like to see videos of The Trooping of the Colour - always a great spectacle and something that The Queen used to ride in.
When you commented that the Queen was wearing a crown, she was actually wearing a tiara which is like a jewelled head band worn by married women at formal evening occasions.
Prince Philip also had a wicked sense of humour and when Prince Charles and Princess Anne were children and they were on the Royal Yacht Britannia, he would encourage them to fish over the side. They dutifully hung their fishing rods over the side and pulled them in when there was a tug on the line, Prince Philip had arranged with the chef to open a porthole and attach a fish to the hook. Princess Anne said that it took a long time before she realised that fish didnt come ready frozen.

Her 'crown' at 1.18 is a tiara, known in the Household as the Vladimir tiara and belonged to Queen Mary. It is the largest tiara in the collection and between each of the rings, they can hang pearls, emeralds or rubies.
The chap next to her at the races is Her racing manager.

The man who touched the Queen on the arm was Sir Norman Wisdom, a famous comedy actor who was a "national treasure". The James Bond part finished before the really funny part...when a look-alike jumped out of a helicopter, followed by James Bond, and parachuted into the opening ceremony for the 2012 Olympics. Worth checking out the whole piece. When the band played the music by the river everyone bobbed up and down because there is a tradition of doing that at the Prom concerts every year when this is played. She is an expert on horses, and used to take private trips to racing festivals. She loved her visits to the Kentucky Derby. She only gave up riding at 92.

The video of the Queen with James Bond was for the 2012 London Olympics Opening Ceremony. It had been requested to just use a double, but she insisted on doing the part herself. If you watch the complete video, Bond and the 'Queen' enter the ceremony by parachuting out of a helicopter into the grounds. She then appeared in the stands to declare the games officially open.

The guy sitting next to her at the races is the horse’s trainer. She has a very close relationship with those who train her horses. Claire Balding who was doing the commentary is the daughter of a race horse trainer who used to train the Queen’s horses and said in an interview that the Queen visit their home to see her horses and often stay for breakfast or lunch.

Her Majesty later quipped that she was happy to now be counted as "one of the Bond girls." Daniel Craig said he was scared stiff but wonderfully happy to play his famous role with her for the opening of the Olympics. Note: I so wish Daniel has worn an elegant overcoat with pop-up collar ... and Walther PPK 9mm-short in a shoulder holster. Okay, okay -- unloaded.
A few years ago, I saw a documentary about Her Majesty recently sitting for photo portraits. The famous photographer Annie Leibovitz asked her to remove her tiara. Her Majesty was clearly not amused by this and retorted that it had taken so long that morning to get the thing on her head in the first place!

The Bond thing was from the Olympics held in London in 2012. She graciously agreed to take part in this spoof where she is seen with James Bond and getting into a helicopter; later a stunt double parachuted into the Olypic arena, to great applause. There is a video of that of so you can see the whole thing I think. The queen and her sister Margaret, as girls, were very keen on putting on shows for the family, as many children like to do, and she is known to be a very good mimic still with a great sense of humour. It's unfortunate that a lot of these clips are seen out of context so the point is missed. I was just as confused as you were at times. Incidentally the music being played that went on and on is The Sailor's Hornpipe. That was the occasion of - I think - her Diamond jubilee, and she and Prince Philip stood for four hours on that boat being entertained, on a cold rainy day. She is a remarkable woman. OK I found you that clip of the James Bond stunt. ua-cam.com/video/1AS-dCdYZbo/v-deo.html

    Canadian Prime Minister joke:
The current PM is Justin Trudeau, the son of Pierre Trudeau who was Canadian PM 1980-1984 (she’d been Queen for 30 years already when he was sworn in). During which time Pierre helped secure additional sovereignty over Canada for the Canadian people.

don't know if anyone has already identified the music, where people were bobbing about. It is the 'Sailor's Hornpipe' and on 'the last night of the proms' (final night of a month long series of Promenade Concerts) it is traditionally played and the 'promenaders' (i.e. standing audience) all bob and join in with party poppers
