The Four Freshmen are simply the best. There used to be a really awesome guitarist as well. Takes such skill to harmonize vocals with some incredibly original syncopation.
Is there sheet music for this tune? I’ve looked through the plentiful pdf’s that John knuttson let me look through and I couldn’t find this particular one. It’s def a fav.

I had the pleasure of hearing two nights of a reunion of the Hi-Los in a Chicago club, probably in the '80s. I never heard the Freshman live, but they were a wonderful part of the soundtrack of my coming of age.
Emmet I'm not gonna sugar coat. I was personally confused and disappointed that you shafted Jake's trumpet solo. He's an amazing, worldclass and first call trumpeter... In fact, after all these years I've been working with him on my hard bop projects I didn't even know he sang! Carry on I guess...

Jake takes solos on I believe all of the other tunes in this set. I’ve watched at least the one on “When You’re Smiling.”
One of those guys can’t sing without a trumpet in his hand. It’s actually really sad 😔
He solos on every song except this one. So it was just part of the show.
