Since I still can't not be in my home studio as much as I want, every time I need to get a refresh about how to work with the ruler and the tempo your channel is my way to go! thanks for doing this video as good as you did. Would be nice to see you working from beginning to end in one of your sections. Bless!
I love that this method doesn’t rely on any software and you mention it in almost every single video. I’ll have to practice it until I’m faster than mixed in key lol
Thank you for this bro! No matter how many times I learn Identify Beat I always forget and come back to YT, but you explained it so well in this video this might be my last time here for this 😂
@@BigMufuckinRigues yeah bro you gotta find the beginning and end of the beat with the drums , make sure it loops and sounds the same. Then you do Cntrl & 8 to do beat identify. Numbers should be 1/1 , 4/4 and don’t move tempo option.
I watched your first video on this. Thanks. After I make my 2 bar selection I like to cut it and pasted it so I don't accidentally move my selection and have to start over.
You can also upload the beat into Logic Pro X and go under metering and select BPM Counter. It’ll literally give you the tempo of any beat. You can also create a click track in Protools and tap T for Tempo to the beat, but you still have to listen. Shortcut ways imo. Good material from brother Wayne too. I’m going to try the beat identifier as well. Thanks bro💯💯
Hey just a tip if you have the tab to transient selected and you hold down shit+tab while you are correcting you’re selection you the cursor will lock on to the transient
This is great knowledge to have, but you should also just get Mixed in Key for speed. I load the file in Mixed in Key simultaneously while importing into the session, and i have the tempo and key all set by the time the artist is in the booth. (Make sure to turn off Camelot, and renaming files in settings)
I have on problem with this method. So when I put arrow down to start and arror up to end than I stop the playback and my marker are gone what is wrong with my settings ?
Wayne , I have to be doing something wrong man. I’ve been recording songs , mixing them , but whenever I do this method , the beat gets slowed down. I really want to start releasing these songs but I feel like I’m wrong in all of them. Can someone help
This might sound like a simple question but I'm new to using protools first software so I have to ask... Every time I try to get a "rough cut" of the 2 bars via up down arrows. the selection disappears as soon as I stop the playback.. ? any idea what I'm doing wrong here, or if their is a function not turned on? Thank you, -D
Not gonna lie I’ve been an audio engineer for over 7+ years and see a ton of “pro” engineers get a session or start a session and never even think of BPM. It’s always been crazy to me. I even asked one about it one time and he just shrugged and said “I eyeball it” 😂. What were the shortkeys you used when you did the stutter steps and the beat switch up? Or did you just select and move it? Just curious how you did it because it’s A LOT faster than what I usually do plus I’m trying to learn iOS shortkeys now that I got windows down pat. Preciate the knowledge as always big dog!
Both videos help me thanks bro great video keep them flowing now I record from home but I would love to ask for a video what plug-ins should we record with for a better quality sound before we send out to mix n master wether is reverb, eq...etc I believe u have other video on it which I’ll check rn but I mean like stock plugins
Can you do this for us in logic please. Also do you have a lesson on stuttering ect. Thanks in advance. Loving your vibe and work. Respect from London 💪
Hey Wavy, great content bro! Thanks for sharing. Now what do we when we have a track that goes on and off tempo naturally? Kind of like how rock songs flow. They may speed up in areas as well as slow down. Is that when we would use Beat Detective? Can you make a video on that please sir?
Hey way big fan and student question I noticed when I download and drop a music file onto Pro Tools, I noticed that there is air in front of the file before the track actually starts. I did watch your tutorial and I noticed that you didn't touch on cutting the air off if need be for proper timing. My question is do we cut that air off before we set timing to click track? or identify beat? Another words in order for the song to lock property on the grid . The reason I ask is because I use the metronome( click track). Basically do I (not) have to use the click track regardless of the intro or the different speed before the actual beat start.? Second question if the intro is at a different speed, Does that matter or not or just continue doing it how you said and will my Beats still be on Gridlock without cutting or editing the intro. Sorry for the long question in advance.
I literally followed step by step && everything was fine until I hit Command I && made my 1 & 3 start and end location afterwards my whole song shifted to the right 🤦🏽♀️ && it sounded completely different please help 😩 #BeginnersProblems
Yo Wayne. I'm a huge fan of yours and I have been following you for years. Thank you so much for all the knowledge you've been giving us for years. I really appreciate all the free game. I have a question though? Do you think you'll ever do a video for Slate Digital plugins? I think that would be some great content and I think you'll like their plugins, especially the Virtual Mix Rack. Just throwing that out there. Have a blessed day bro! And be dope today!!!
bro you had me fucking dying with your counting mess lmao anyway, always great stuff. been following in you from your first ever video, ironically teaching how to utilize identify beat. Also, you worked on one of my tracks :) #StayDope
Ohhh!!! ok i get it that's why peoples songs are unorganized people don't know how to count barz and construct songs. That's why all the songs sound unorganized.

this was a better identify beat tutorial for me this video should help me to break out of that tap the tempo habit to record my self 💯
💯
you offically broke me out of tapping the tempo you made the self engineering life easier on my end 💯
Great vid man and u have to do more vids on how u edited the beat and added the 8th/ 16th or move the beat arrangement around.

Your videos helped me so much. Want to thank you for all the love you put into your channel to help us all
Great Video Wayne! But I find using Tap to Tempo a whole lot faster. Is there an advantage to doing that way over Tap to Tempo?
Wavy Wayne always coming through for us man. Get this man a medal or something
thank you so much wavy brother☺

How do you delete the bar beat marker on pc? Everytime I try it it deletes the whole selection.
I did the process above several time and yet the grid bars don't line up after you delete the marker and retype the beat
