From what I understood the Naturally Aspirated 458 was a bench mark for how a high revving flat plane crank car should be...its possible the power output goal and smooth like butter 458 is what we should expect the new C8 variant to be like ..with the GT2 RS being the handling benchmark..that's what i heard maybe that's just rumor.
Question, could the ones with the outer exhaust be the "GrandSport" just doing the test at the same time, as they do release them at the same time or just before the Z06.
I'm more excited about the flat plane crank engine on the coming Z06 C8 than about a center exit exhaust. I've always thought the center exit exhaust design on the C7 are cheap and gimmicky looking. Although I do like the way the center exit exhaust tips were designed into the Ferrari 458. Hoping GM does a better job of designing a center exit exhaust into the C8 Z06 than they did with the C7.
HorsePower Obsessed I feel in love with them in 1991 When my older brother bought a 1988. However I liked before that because my grandfather had two. A red ‘63 split window and a ‘64, or ‘66 silver convertible with side pipes and a big block. Then my brother bought a brand new vette the 1st year without the flip up headlights. My father and I bought a ‘04 C-5. We are in the middle of swapping out the trans from the auto to a custom built T-56. We just got done building a LS6 with a twin turbo setup. Nothing to crazy daily driver with A/C around 675 to 685hp on pump gas. CANT WAIT. LOL Love your channel man keep up the great content 👍🏼👍🏼
Center exit exhaust will probably only be on the upgraded Z07 package. I dont think they will remove the trunk. It just takes up the same space people are currently using for their turbos.
It is actually the same muffler, they just ran the pipes out the center instead of the sides. Also the side exhaust holes are still there, they didn't bother camouflaging that part because that is not the rear diffuser that will be on the car.

First off I think you were the first to show a new second video of a c8 Z06 accelerating that's cool. 2nd, car sounds like your average speed bike accelerating, which is awesome! Not sure if it's in the loudest setting though. But we certainly don't want obnoxious. If someone wants that go aftermarket. I believe the car can safely/ reliable 600 to 650 BHP but torque probably 480 up to 550 but if 600 hey who's gonna complain. I bet gearing will be aggressive
I think the center exhaust gripe, stems from the fact a lot of people don't embrace change since it was featured on the outgoing. C7, just like they bitched about the headlight set up on the C6, opposed to pop-up headlights on the older Vettes, and the four-round tail lights issue or the fact they shouldn't have gone with a mid-engine setup, some people struggle, I never understood the whole exhaust issue either, but they're gonna bitch but eventually except it.
PLEASE let the Z06 look like the C8-R..... That car is beautiful!!! I'm liking what they are doing with it and I'm beginning to wonder if that rear spoiler on the last video is the active aero wing stuck in the up position for aerodynamic testing.... Very exciting stuff 😁
This is very exciting. Especially considering the younger crowd are enthusiastic about this car.the old heads may not be too happy about the mid engine layout but GM had to do something revolutionary by moving to mid engine, and taking this car into the future
Two different tube diameters? I think it looks like a twin turbo bypass system. It also seems like the exhaust note has a "covered" sound like a turbo system would produce. Could this be a test mule for for the ZR1??

The zo6 is more of a track car. Id assume the zora would prbably more of a top speed or hypercar oriented model. Still probably bot like a jesko but more of a hybrid track car like the laferrari, p1 and 918. More to compete with higher end supercars like the sf90, the zo6 will probably compete with the huracan, 570s. Possibly verge onto the 488 and f8 tributo. The SSC Tuatara has a 5.9L TT V8 fpc that revs to 8800. This talk of vibration can be taken care of if built properly. There will be likely two TT models of C8. Both will come later in cycle. 5.5L fpc with less compression and lower redline.

Hi from Canada. Thanks for the info. Love your channel. Just made a 5G deposit at dealership to get on there list for the C8 Z06. I know it’s early but better to be proactive than reactive and too late.
Man the Horsepower number needs to be a lot better than 650 horse , this car should come with no less than 800 -850 HP. Come on GM the power needs to be bumped like something seriously it’s a shame to have this wicked mid engine layout with the HP rating from like 10 years ago. If a GT2 pulls on side he’d better think twice if he knows that Vette is packing 8 to 850 horse leet alone a Lamborghini Hurcan .
Loved it! Thanks so much. I just wonder if there will be a convertible model and assuming there is, how long will we have to wait for it after the coupe is offered...?
what do I think as you asked- I think you are too hung up on the trunk the trunk is not just for golf clubs, If you want to take a road trip you will need more storage than the trunk. But if all you do is go for coffee trips to meet up with Street Speed then you are fine.
No one's going to be taking a Z07 packaged car on any road trips. There are other cars for that kind of stuff. Performance is more important for this kind of car in my opinion.
The yellow one @ 1:47 and all other colors look aggressive, but it's just a rectangle w/ no CURVES at all...Kinda weird....I wonder why GM, went w/ the flat plane V8 ??
Not a chance in hell they ditch or shrink the trunk. Some may think it’s ridiculous, but A very significant percentage of corvette owners golf. The clubs have to go somewhere. I’ve got a jag XK8 convertible and one of the absolute design requirements given to the engineers was that the trunk HAD to fit 2 sets of clubs and 2 duffel bags for weekend trips. Same with the Vette. I intend to buy a Z06 convertible and if it doesn’t fit golf clubs I’m not interested. I go on extended trips quite a bit and it’s critical to me. I’m sure I’m not the only one.
Love the new intro Justin. The center stack of exhaust tips looked a bit funky on the test mule. Hope its clean on the production car. Great information as usual J. Thx man 👍👊😉
Rip Shelby gt 500. Its been a nice brief run of the old platform but its time to put Betsy to rest. Z06 is a new corvette platform that will completely annihilate the ford pre 2015 platform pony. Even the base 2020 vette gave the gt500 a really hard time
"Center exhaust was obviously oddly missing" in the earlier uploads. NOW a center exhaust appears ""oddly" in it's appearance.🤔😁 I have to wonder if it's something "new" in the way of a tuned exhaust header/exhaust system. Not a fan of the looks, but if it's truly functional, so be it. It would not be a deal breaker, just like the rear wing would not be a deal breaker. Save the Wave.🙋🏼♂️

What a sound! Unfortunately I can only afford the small block... which still sounds good, but different.
You can probably get abase Z06 for the price of a loaded 3LT Stingray.
One is the grand sport
Hopefully DOHC as well as the Flat plane crank! High RPM mid engine vette?!?! YES PLEASE!!!!
Don't need DOHC for that.
@@Jessersadler true but you get valve float with pushrod motors. Sure u can upgrade to stiffer springs but it then takes more force/energy to compress them so imo DOHC is the better option.
@@Pew_Professional you can get valve float with anything. I don't think its worth the complexity, or size sacrifice that happens. just my .02
@@Jessersadler perhaps I should have specified that u get valve float much earlier in the rpm range.
Justin, informative video. I like you having a center exhaust with an aero rear spoiler would be the icing on the cake. Cruising the desert highways this weekend. Blue skies, Jg
Thanks, John! I think the Z06 is likely to be a beast. Seeing it all come together now..
What about a roof scoop? That would be sweet and maybe someone will make an aftermarket one for the stingray
Looks ugly!
What about the active aero??
Well hello my darling. Imagine 8000 rpm redline. Boost it. Oh lawd.
I believe this will have more like 8500 to 9000 rpm, if it stays N/A. Hopefully it'll be 9K like the 458. The 488 is lower due to it being boosted.
@@TroutButter don't care. either way is fine with me. but if we know that the motor and trans can hold a 1000 hp build and rev to the sky? OMG. Game is over. I can't even imagine what the zora is gonna be like. $200k. Take my money.
Twin turbos for sure.
@@TroutButter you are correct
Damn it sounds incredible!
Right?
Any info on if there will he a C8 Z06 convertible?
Yes
They know the market jacked up right now they gonna have to drop prices
Very excited to see the release of this car in a couple years. Any thoughts on the starting price? Maybe 20grand more than the Stingray?
If GM follows the same pricing as the C7 the Z06 should start around 89 - 90k.
When your c8 are coming?when did you order?
I ordered in July. Should be coming in the next 2 weeks.
C8🔥😎
👍👍👍
First the wing now the exhaust.....this gonna be wild!
The big wing could be the grand sport
I was thinking that
1:29 I want it gone so bad. My only dislike with the car is that trunk. That and I think top exit exhaust would be great.
Sounds really good.... great content 🇺🇸
Thank you!
It sounds really good!!!
Loved it! Thanks so much. I just wonder if there will be a convertible model and assuming there is, how long will we have to wait for it after the coupe is offered...?
You're welcome! Thank you!
@@HorsePowerObsessed He has a question
I don’t care if it’s on the side or in the middle just get rid of those stupid square exhaust pipes! Fantastic video J man!
I like the sqare exhaust ! Just my opinion no more c7 crap it's a new vehicle!
@@waltbullet1287 - Looks like the Z06 is going exactly C7 centered 4 pipes with round tips.
Had to laugh when I realized the second video (@2:24) is actually the reverse of the first video (@2:14). 😂
🤣🤣
Is it still a pushrod? Or does Chevrolet went DOHC.
what do I think as you asked- I think you are too hung up on the trunk the trunk is not just for golf clubs, If you want to take a road trip you will need more storage than the trunk. But if all you do is go for coffee trips to meet up with Street Speed then you are fine.
No one's going to be taking a Z07 packaged car on any road trips. There are other cars for that kind of stuff. Performance is more important for this kind of car in my opinion.
@@HorsePowerObsessed thats my take as well screw the trunk buy clothes when you get there ship them back lol
Lol yes!
The C8 ZO6 is setting up to be a track MONSTER not a Grand Touring car!!..Lol!!
@@HorsePowerObsessed lol you can laugh all you want but I've done it 😆 🤣 😂 I dont care I live in the moment not the past nor the future
The center exhaust car may be a convertible since there wont be a targa top to be in the rear......That may be why they are covering the rear glass.
The yellow one @ 1:47 and all other colors look aggressive, but it's just a rectangle w/ no CURVES at all...Kinda weird....I wonder why GM, went w/ the flat plane V8 ??
They must have a good reason.
@@HorsePowerObsessed Very, Good point !! :):)
Because a Flat-Plane Crank engine Revs Much Higher than a Cross-Plane Crank engine!
🤣🤣🤣 right?
@@STAK_22 OK...But does that automatically translate to quicker acceleration ?? U seem to be positive it does...Just curious !!
Wonder where this thing will redline....? Seems like it would be around 8,300rpm....like the GT350
It sounds amazing and i can't wait!!!!!!
Agreed!
Yes on losing the trunk! Can’t wait for the ring time on this one.
You and me both!
Even the base 2020 vette gave the gt500 a really hard time
The one without the exaust could be the E-Ray?
Could be, but the E-Ray is going to be a hybrid, meaning it would still need an exhaust.
@@HorsePowerObsessed thank you.
Lager diameter pipes are exhaust, the smaller diameter pipes might be waste gate?
Very nice...I want one!
I agree! It's looking goooood!
