There have been a TON of questions regarding content coming in the Last Release, so I decided to make a quick video highlighting what's confirmed.
Here's what we know for sure:
-The Final Stage: End of the World
-All Bosses for each story, including Solaris
-Team Attack Amigo DLC Stages
-All Very Hard DLC stages
-Silver Medal implementation

Just to be clear, this video covers the confirmed content for the Last Release SO FAR.
There WILL be more coming (which is bonkers), the team is just not completely sure what it will be.

Maybe making it like sa2b where each stage has its own personal point requirement instead of the flat 50k it does now for each level? (I know I asked this when you posted earlier but wanted to get your thoughts)

I hope ChaosX makes it open-source after he's done with the project so people can keep adding more content on top, e.g. multiplayer and restoring its cut story mode, the story mode itself, town missions, etc.
Honestly I'm just hoping for Hub Worlds. With Shops where you can exchange Silver Medals for gems and upgrades.
It has to be just some form of Story Mode where you can play all the levels and bosses of the selected campaign with the cutscenes. It can skip the hub worlds, just give us that Story Mode where we can watch all the cutscenes and play the game campaign after campaign no problem.
Here’s hoping somebody else makes a mod with hubs and the story eventually, so this glorious thing can be the complete package
That would mean ChaosX would have to do source code release, which I'm hoping he does for even more mod support.
Can you imagine, remade human models, and more stuff that where cut from the story mode
I have heard that it is possible that other people might become interested in making mods of those parts after this final release becomes available to be downloaded, and I hope that it truly does happen.

I understand not having the story mode but I really hope theres some kind of level playlist mode where it lets you play each level in a story in a row without being brought back to the menu
Would be nice, especially with the cutscenes that play inbetween the stages, basicly a story mode without the hubworlds

ChaosX confirmed on twitter that there will be an Arcade mode which allows you to play all the campaign levels and bosses in order.

ChaosX deserves to design an official Sonic character for how much he's done for the community.
Honestly I was only expecting the Bosses and End of the World as a nice finishing touch to cap off the game but the DLC Stages and Medals are really cool to see too. Looking forward to it.

@@chrisgranger5477 I mean yeah? The hub worlds in the original are kinda boring and really just feel like time wasting between levels most of the time. They're like all the worst aspects of SA1's adventure fields turned up to 11. Although tbf, that'd be mitigated a lot in P06 with characters who are actually fun to play.
@@shinysamurott613 Plus two hub worlds (parts of them) are used as the main setting for two different boss fights. If and when Chaos does release the source code for this fan game I hope someone else will finish off making the game by working on the hub worlds with the missions for each characters respectively, touch up the in game cutscenes that play between levels, bosses, etc. code the game into the respective story modes, and fix the multi player.

Its crazy how i remember when p06 came out and blew my mind, and now its already about to be finished. Time flies.
Well the project still lacks a few things but yeah it is almost finished.
@@AutZentusIt lacks multiplayer and hub worlds but I don't think anyone would be too angry about the hubworlds going missing.
@@Neo-Metal17 I guess not but this project did fix the characters feel and playability. So going around fixed up hub worlds in this project I don't think would be an issue for players now. I think if the worlds had more NPCs doing stuff and the worlds were made a bit smaller but still keeping most of the scale and scope giving the feel of the official hub worlds would make it more bearable.
@@AutZentus Probably, ChaosX probably doesn't feel like it though, I'm honestly surprised he didn't work on the multiplayer.
@@Neo-Metal17 i really badly wanted story mode so i could re-experience the game and its full cutscenes in its entirety. without having to rebuy a console........ i could technically emulate it on pc probably but i just don't want to suffer with the bad things that project 06 fixes.
That would mean all its really missing is hubs and the hub challenges.

(I hope SEGA consider picking this up for a official release.)
But to really seal the deal on top of those missing things we'd need remakes of the in game cutscenes. Can't do much about the CG cutscenes. If that stuff gets worked on in the future then we will have a full experience with everything made from the ground up.
It would be really great if there was an approximate story mode that just had all the cutscenes from the main game play as video files and then it just loads the correct act or boss in a playlist style like sonic adventure 2. (Have powerups toggle on during those inbetween moments, have text prompts replace the hub world content when a cutscene doesnt do enough…)
Not having the perfect storymode is fine, but having something that’s halfway there would be nice too. Some people just want a “play from start to finish” experience, even if it’s not the best version of that it could be.
Agreed. The cutscenes don't need to be in engine anymore, they could legit just be video files ripped straight from youtube.
@@CritStanley Going from P-06's graphics to Retail 06's graphics and then back to P-06's graphics would be really strange but over time I'll be fine with it
I really really do hope this release has an Egg Shuttle mode. Pick a character and just run through every stage and boss for that episode. Would be at least something to help with the lack of story mode
I imagine the silver medals will count towards 100% which will make the 100% run more interesting (mainly for Shadow, 100% is already very cool with Sonic and Silver)
Can't wait to play this game on my low end laptop. Note: I've got all S-ranks for the three hedgehogs in low quality settings...

Honestly, it'll be fun to fight solaris when he's fixed. What I absolutely hated about him was during his second phase you had to take a hit from his lasers when switching out.
I really do wish we got the cutscenes done. If it’s a surprise for the final release, that’ll be great. But I know some cutscenes can’t be redone because some were pre-rendered and then CGI. Keep the CGI ones because Blur Studios is great
Yeah I would like to believe getting ALL the in game cutscenes done would be a big must have to be done seeing as how some of them were worked on after finishing a level/boss and before a level/boss. Even the in game cutscenes that play within the hub worlds after a level or boss would be great too. Between that, the hub worlds, town missions, multiplayer, and just coding the game to have the respective story modes for each teams are all that's left.
I can't imagine Chaos X not including the story mode content considering the cutscene proof of concept that was presented some time ago but that might not have been related and it was just one scene.
If he doesn't do it then maybe another group of people will do that along with the hub worlds and town missions. Even the base game multiplayer (as pointless as it was) shouldn't be left out.
Oh wow! This is a LOT more than I was expecting! I figured it was just gonna be bosses, and the final stage, and that's it- no more. Shocking Chaosx is going as far as to include all this other content.
That's gonna add SO much replayability to the game!
And the only extra thing in this game that he didn't do is the multiplayer which was in the base game. Aside from that, coding the stuff to the respective stories from start to finish for each team, and whatever in game cutscenes that didn't get remade, the only big things left are hub worlds and town missions. And since Chaos plans to release the source code for this fan game I hope there is a group of people that plan to finish the rest of this game and give us those 5 remaining things.
I hope the town missions and story mode get added even if it is optional because I want to be able to do a full play through of sonic 06 with good
It's a shame there won't be a story mode, I'd love to play these levels in their proper context.
I didn't include it in the video since it's not 100% confirmed, but Chaos has mentioned he has plans for a mode where you can play the game in the story order. Again, not 100% on it, but it may be a feature as well.

Very interested to see how the bosses come out, especially Iblis worm and the hedgehogs
I do wish that we had an improved story but I can't blame ChaosX for not wanting to deal with that. Not only would the whole story need an overhaul and be in an order that still matches the stages but he would need to remove some of the CG cutscenes if they don't fit the story.
Well I mean I think the whole purpose to this project is to make sonic 06 into a more complete and playable package that it was meant to be almost 20 years ago with features that were scrapped due to time and adding in stuff that sega just didn't think of before.
Yeah it does suck that the over all story won't be fixed but you can't much about that and that would also regard getting the 4kids VAs along with mike pollock and Lacey Chabaret to redo their lines which is not possible. If anything after this update drop as well as ChaosX giving easy access to the source code for this project, I think people should focus on fixing the hub worlds, the town missions, and in game cutscenes along with wrapping everything up into the respective story modes that play out from start to finish like before. And just fixing the multiplayer since that's only other thing from the main game that wasn't touched.

I really hope that eventually hub worlds will be reimplemented with all missions (even cut ones perhaps?) added, If not by Chaos then by modders hopefully?
That is great, but will that be like actually the last release?
I would love to see the hub worlds being implemented as well as with the town missions.
Without these 2 things, project 06 will not be actually finished in my eyes.

@@somisimons yeah, I thought of that pretty recently. Tho, I would love to see some fan remastered 06 cutscenes instead of just fans modding in the vanilla 06 cutscenes. I know that it is possible to mod in your own fan made cutscenes, but I don't think there will be someone who would be willing to do so.
Honestly, I would have preferred the hub worlds, shops (for a better acquisition of gems and upgrades) and cutscenes, over the DLC. And MAYBE the town missions important to the story, such as the acquisition of the gem shoes or the one where Shadow makes a second Scepter of Darkness. To be honest I just want a good story experience for this game. Without the story, I don’t really have much motivation to go through the stages.
That's fair, and if that's how it is then P-06 isn't for you. P-06 is for people who want the gameplay and levels of Sonic 06, refined and polished to a shine. Not for people than want to experience a so called "better" version of the original Retail Sonic 06.

Would love it if they somehow snuck in Super Shadow and Super Silver into base game levels. I know they'd wct pretty identical to sonic, but itd be cool to have regardless

i know chaosx doesn't plan on doing the hub world nor the town missions, but i hope it's possible to mod it in, since even though they aren't much, it'd be nice to have the "full" experience, y'know?
those, and getting the in game cutscenes up lifted and multiplayer fixed up would be great, along with tying the main game stuff together into the 4 stories of story mode.
I hope to play project 06 when it is fully finished but please I need it to have the cutscenes for the story to make sense.

Excited to see what Chaos will do with the Sonic vs Silver boss fight. A while ago I made some rough sketches of some ideas i had, hoping i could show them to him one day. However I don't know if he he's open to fan suggestions. Anyway, I'm sure he'll do a great job nonetheless!

@andretavares8229 Well, I tried to draw some attacks Silver might use and how Sonic should evade them (big emphasis on "tried" because I'm no artist at all😅). Nothing too complicated. I DMed Chaos on Twitter, asking him if he would be interested in looking at them but he didn't respond. So I assumed he was busy or wasn't interested in them. It's his project after all, and I respect his choice.
As for Silvers attacks, I think one of them was like his boss fight from Generations, where sonic has to do an homing attack chain on the object silver picks up in order to reach him and damage him.
Another one was Silver spinning the objects around himself as a tornado-shield and then charging at Sonic. Now that I think about it, Silver creating a psychic tornado would be cool too.
The Last one was silver creating different shockwaves Sonic has to jump over or slide under.
Like I said, nothing too complicated or fancy. I trust he'll do a great job.

Call me dumb, but not having a story mode kind of kills this for me
I remember being really into this game's story when I was a kid, but never actually played the game (I just watched the cutscenes lol), so I was excited to try this improved version of Sonic 06, but without any cutscenes or story mode, it'd be like a level selector game, which really kills my hype.
Did they confirm they won't be releasing a story mode? Or is it just not a priority at the moment
For an idea that's totally not going to be implemented...
I think I'd want to see a simplified version of the Chao Garden that incentivizes you collecting rings throughout the stories so you can purchase items for your Chao. These items would be incrementally unlocked as you progress through the story incentivizing you to play all the levels.
That idea will exist only here and in my head...

tbh i think the red coin system was first drafted on sonic advance 2, there, you need to collect 6 golden medals peer level to access the special stage
Yeah, those medals were horrible though and the special stages themselves weren't too great either.

Well that would completely undermine Sonic's super form since Shadow and Silver already have "ultimates" so they'd be getting two but the main character would only have one.

He said at one point there would be an "Arcade Mode" where you go through all the bosses and levels in chronological order, no proper Story Mode, though. No cutscenes or hubs.

@@NL-X Like I've said to other people, it is possible that any other modding people might try to make mods of the story mode and the hub-worlds after Chaos X makes this final release available so that it can look more complete.

Project 06 let’s go
Personally I'm okay with this being the end. ChaosX granted my wish. My wish of having the Sonic community FINALLY STFU about Sonic 06's gameplay. It's been 20+ years later and all they would do is just bitch over and over again about the game even after it stopped being relevant in spite of it being the last Sonic game with a great villain and actually gave the entire Sonic cast respect and treated them all seriously. And now that anytime I meet anyone that unimaginatively complains about Sonic 06 I can just shove Project 06 in their face, tell em' to play it and STFU and move on with my life. I'm satisfied. Thank you ChaosX for saving a game I truly and genuinely loved growing up.
In their defense, 06 had a lot of problems with how the game ran, performed, bugs, glitches etc.
Project 06 was more than a simple face lift, it completely evolved and cleaned up how the game played, looked and felt. It’s quietly one of the greatest video game remakes I’ve ever played.. game casually went from a low 4 to a high 8 or low 9 for me
I think what this does was prove that Sonic 06 was a great game in concept but it was totally screwed by being rushed out for holiday 2006. At least on your end this validates the proof of concept of sonic 06
@@jonnypaspula Yeah aside from the photo realistic art style, the handling of blaze the cat (who was already established in sonic rush, and the forced Sonic and Elise romance (based on the original idea of him having a human girlfriend way back when sonic was first being conceptualized) this game did have something good going for it, it's just that, as you said, it's sega's fault for rushing the game for the holiday release window.
Sonic 06 hurt alot of people. It was the last Sonic Adventure type game(so far.) For people unhappy with existing 3D Sonic games, Sonic 06(at the time) was the promise of a return.
Then, Sega pulled a Sega. Never even patched the game. Later Sonic games like Unleashed, etc have a new fan demographic of people with Brainrot.
P06 isn't likely to be played by anyone outside the internet Sonic fan community. You need a strong gaming computer to play it.
And regardless, its still Sonic 06 even if patched. Its not the Sonic equivalent of Mario Galaxy. But I appreciate what ChaosX did

As fun as some levels play, without a story mode it still just feels like a "proof of concept" game. I also want to determine if the level design is fair, too easy, hard, but I cant because I memorized tye levels
I have to say that I'm much more hyped for the next p-06 update than the x shadow generations. chaos x is really doing an amazing job and I can't wait to see how he remakes the game's boss fights. such as shadow vs mephiles, sonic vs silver and obviously the main focus of the next update, the three super hedgehogs vs the god of the sun and time solaris. I'm excited not only to see what the boss fight itself will be like, but also what the transformation of Solaria and the gameplay with the three hedgehogs will be like.
I wonder if there are every cutscene for the last update of p-06?
You know what would be cool? Someone mods in the HUB worlds and Story Mode AND making a reworked Retail 06 storyline for P-06.

What about the cutscenes? In-Game and Pre-Rendered and CGI, Are we getting them all? The story of Sonic 06 was already good enough, The story mode and hub worlds are important too, Please tell me if we are getting those! I'd appreciate that a lot.

@@SpringTrapJager it objectively isn't, as there are several plothes, the three stories are a mess when combined, Sonic has hardly any interaction with the real plot, and then there's the forced love story between Sonic and a human.

I’d like to ask, you mention it as a last release, so does that mean development will end after the update releases or would they do more like the full completed game?
If silver medals are coming then gold medal should be coming to, cause there is all the elements required to unlock them on each stage. I also hope they will bring the overworld and the silver medals in the overworld, to get the complete Sonic 06 experience.

I'm so excited!!!
While it would be welcoming to also get the planned material that may have been in Engine Test Builds and later prototypes, I think plentiful players would be genuinely shocked if we end up getting the Metal Sonic campaign and the additional set of Super Hard stages that never made it to retail; Very Hard already left a mark on the player base as is and the Boss Attack and Team Attack Amigo options were never available in the North American version of the Retail Build of the PlayStation 03 port of Several Wills (unless you got a Region Free variant of the DLC via PSNDL (Version 04), while it was still online), thus players such as myself who never got to play the options feasibly on the Xbox 0360 version will get a sense of redemption thanks to ChaosX and company's additions, attaining Metal Sonic and Super Hard would be a heartwarming welcome for those that have waited nearly Eighteen Years for those to make themselves known but my expectations will be simmered because the only way we would ever get those at this point is if the relevant data and assets for either or were to be explicitly available to work from and port in.
This being said, what we will get from what I will fittingly call the Solaris Update to P~06 will open the door to more being done by the community down the road, I hope the fangame will be made Open Source so that eventually the community will add in the Story Mode campaigns, Adventure Fields, and Missions proper and perhaps there will be more than enough presently undiscussed ambitions to add in by that point to say that we could finally run this full~time because all the content is present; the timing of when this is coming out is also welcoming, as after July 029 of this year there will be no way to purchase the full game in a Digital capacity due to the Xbox 0360 Marketplace closing up shop and unless P~06 is ever ported over to the Generation VII to IX consoles your best bets of getting Several Wills with all the content will be through Homebrew methods, wishfully the presence and impact of P~06 will eventually encourage Sega and Sonic Team to returning to its more polished builds and Engine Test Builds to give the game a proper chance at redemption in an official capacity and if it can manage to get all of the contractual Red Tape dealt with on the Music and Voice Acting front then I do wholeheartedly believe that it will be the Remaster that the community helped fuel and once again do more good justice where ChaosX and everybody else already have managed to. (:

Man, I was hoping for a pseudo story mode where you just play the levels in order but with all the cutscene's spliced in. I don't care about the hub worlds. I think we all can agree those don't need to come back. :P

Yeah it's surprising chaos worked on the team attack amigo mode and the super hard mode missions but not base game's multiplayer.
I hope they add a story mode option to the game, even with no hub worlds and hub missions.

Don't get too disappointed about that, because it is possible that some other modding people could become interested in having themselves make downloadable mods of the hub-worlds and the story mode after Chaos X makes this final release available so that it would look more complete. Think about THAT instead of thinking that P-06 will never have those parts in it.

I would love to see that happen, especially since that, hub worlds, town missions, base game multiplayer, and the main game stuff into the respective story mode would be all that's left to fix, but I highly doubt the in game cutscenes will be made. Plus some of the locations in some in game cutscenes are in the 3 different hub worlds which haven't exactly be touch out other than the sonic and silver fights and the egg genesis boss for sonic's story.

While I really wish he wasn't going straight for very hard and skipping hard mode (and hub worlds and town missions and story), chaos has done far and away more than any fan developer has, and frankly should, to prove how great a failed game could have been. Congrats to him and his masterpiece and I hope he enjoys his long overdue retirement from this game.
I hope the hub worlds are added. Not like any of the town missions, or NPCs, or like... most of the functionality of the hub worlds. Just the 3 hub worlds, with the Level entrances, with new ones added for Crisis City and Flame Core. I mostly just wanna vibe in Soleanna New City with the P-06 Characters.
Hopefully better controller support gets added because when you play the game only some buttons work and the joy sticks don’t work unless your in a stage
ChaosX, Please don’t make it so that to get the Rainbow Gem, Memory Shard (Light) and Sigil of Awakening you also have to S rank the Very Hard Stages. Don’t do it Please.

Both. Unless he changes his mind, this is the last major release, ignoring updates for bug fixes and such. It's called the "Last Episode" release because it adds End of the World and all the bosses to the game.

Sega should buy the game and class it as an official release and release on all platforms. Great that it can be played on PC but be cooler if more people can play it and understand why 06 wasn't as bad as some claimed.

I've never played the extra stage layouts for 06, but I've noticed that the Very Hard mode is listed here without the game having _regular_ hard mode? Is it too similar or not included or something?
Honestly I can imagine the hard mode versions are gonna be in the game. Unlike the very hard mode levels, Hard mode is more just altered enemy placements and more hazards compared to Very Hard where the levels are usually changed up drasticly in some way.
Can someone explain what this whole thing is about? Essentially someone is fixing and adding things to Sonic 06? But is this something that the public will have access to? And if so, how?
I'll summarize it really quickly, this is free-to-play fan project which aims to completely rebuild (or remake) the original Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 from scratch, on the Unity Engine.
It has improved graphics, refined gameplay (all 9 characters feel perfect, smooth and fun to play as, how!?), bugs fixed, restored scrapped content, and better perfomance.
Honestly, playing this is like playing the spiritual successor of the Adventure games, and it's free to download and play.

Do you know if chaosX plans on adjusting the requirement for an S rank on each stage? Maybe something akin to how it works in Sonic adventure 2 instead of the current flat 50k points system
It's been mentioned that he's nerfing the number of points combos will give you. Seemingly keeping the 50k points for S ranks intact.
