we're in the zorcia system!
zorica system.
zorsha system.
we're in a system
VinylScratchDoesMinecraft
Zorica is a female Slavic name. :D
One of the small details of this game I adore is the fact when landing on the planet, the sun (which is white) changed to a blue color, which is something actual planets can do due to atmosphere (for example, our sun is also white, but earth's atmosphere makes it appear yellow or orange)
The sun is actually white?!?? I legit didn’t know this.
And to think that this game was made by one man...
(2 now)
did he separate?
Ben Halliday
No, he hired another guy
Are we seeing Game Dev Tycoon IRL in the making?
Sliether Soler
Wait, what?
Sliether Soler oh my goD
imagine this game with multiplayer and you would have a giant frigate with like 20 people just in that one ship
that wod be so cool!
has that come out alreadu?
***** I know but it wod be sooooooo cool
jack oreilly (captain) carl, why are we landing, WHY ARE WE LANDING! WE SHOULD BE PLOTTING A COURSE FOR (mrmrmrmrmrmmrrm) TO TRADE THESE SPICES!
(carl comes in to the cockpit) captain, didnt i tell you, that i always wanted to be rich? and my dream was to captain a ship?
well, todays the day my dream comes true, *BOOM GOES DA PIRATE AGE BLUNDABUS!*
um ok "help"
"Play across three monitors..." Look at you and your.... NASA ubercomputer
TurtleLuigi But... The game doesn't look very demanding at all. I don't know if it has performance issues, but...
NASA uses relatively weak computers. Your cellular phone is most likely more powerful than what they used to send rockets to the moon.
Thefishoverlord That was in 1969, dumbass. That was before even the Atari 2600. If they're using anything but workstation and enthusiast parts now I'd be surprised.
JJ Warner That's still not the point. Technology doesn't need to be super-ultra-God to achieve things.
JJ Warner Okay, I made a bad analogy. But my point still stands.
Fun fact: the Steam page quotes Dan as a review and links to this video.
He really needs to look into Space Engine.
***** he has. he did a permadeath
kristofer space engine, not space engineers
Duckism ah, my bad. carry on
Don't you mean Space Engineers?
alex ryan No. There is a "game" called Space Engine. I say "game" because really you just fly around a partially factually generated - partially procedural generated universe and just look at all the pretty things.
Imagine this in vr
Yes, Please.
No, I don’t think I will
I just remembered this game again, and started watching rewatching this video. Then I went to Steam, and the listed review for Rodina is from Nerdcubed.
The game in which the guy you click on that says "Engeneering" is from Stronghold:Crusader.
I can't remember the last time nerd complemented a game.
soundtrack is just so great for this game
"It scares the willies out of me." Ah hitchhikers guide, will you ever run out of references?
This game looks absolutely incredible and I'm flabbergasted that it somehow managed to slip under my radar.
Oh man that No Man's Sky comparison aged like fine wine. Then it started to rot after Nomansky got good
You should do a series on this, i'd watch every episode.
i wish he would finally make a series of this
This game I feel like would be incredible with a VR headset, having actual depth perception would certainly bring in a even greater sense of scale.
Nerd³ Challenges Rodina Planet-wide Extermination.
I once flew up to jarilo, found what can only be descrined as a fleet of enemies escorting a few bombers, took them out, rinse and repeat ten times over.
Alt key lets you look around
It's been 5 years, this game is still amazing I love it
I am back...after all these years....Back to where good memories were...
Dan is gonna flip shit when No Man's Sky comes out.
Lol I'm also hyped up for NMS and Star Citizen
+Kat McCollough I'm also hyped for the Space Engineers planet update.
Nerdcubed road trip.
Yeah he should do a series of no man's sky when it finally comes out in July.
+Etalex Planets are here now :3
I think Scott Manley might like this...
that ships looks so much smaller on the outside
you mean it's bigger on the inside? it's ok, everybody says that.
And it's not the right shape
It actually isn't.
+98765zach Actually, it's bigger on the outside if anything. Look at how tiny the door is.
the ship is a TARDIS, he covered much more space inside the ship than its size on the outside
optimuprime500 the ships interior fit snugly in its exterior. its not bigger on the inside. its just a illusion.
Rodi-na, Russian for motherland/homeland
Alwin Priven interesting i didn't know that
***** why should you know that if you don't know Russian? or you do know Russian?
This would be SUCH a great game for a series... and I think we would all love it as much as you already do
You need to revisit this game.
This music is damn beautiful.
I need that flashlight!
I could communicate with ISS!
Lightspit Did.... did anybody else see that as ISIS?
JustASmallElf [Formerly IMMORTAL Pando] ISIS? The goddess or the "state" :)?
Neither one!
I said and meant ISS = International Space Station.
BTW I am born as a Roman-Catholic christian and even I am not a practicioner as a Romanian I can be accused of many things but not as an extremist muslim.
+Lightspit A romanian brother? You guys are so rare down here on the internet! :D
You know what? I watched this whole play through, and while i'm an explorer to the core, bits of it are really exciting, and then there's this staleness of this is going to happen many many times before you get to the end.. but the ending of this video where you touched down on that mountain, just to show the scale and let you sort of... absorb its grandeur... that was one heck of a selling point sir.
I guarantee, if we ever meet an alien species, and they build planets, you'll sell a hell of a lot of them. employee of the month n shit.
Great review sir.
Does nerd3 know about space engine (where you explore the entire UNIVERSE)??
He is right you know
btw i is da n00b He should play it
+btw i is da n00b he already has
SpaceEngine is not Space Engineers.
No theirs a game called Space Engineers
Man it feels good to watch a vod you watched as a kid
I think no man's sky is taking more than "a little" inspiration from this game...
yea!
nms is gonna be great(atleast i hope so)
Rahul Garg
From what i see i can tell that its going to be a dissapointment.
Vangjo Pula it will be disappointment for action lovers
but for a peaceful explorer like me..
this game is my life :D
Rahul Garg
Seems mediocre on action. But as for exploration it feels really like same shit over and over.Like that game seems like it could entertain me for 5 hours max.
everyone has a different taste :)
I'm pleased with Rodina. Simple yet entertaining with realistic distances, atmosphere and combat
This video needs an update
It's Dan's perfect little asteroid. His perfect little satellite.
this game kinda got overshadowed with star citizen which imo is the most immersive space sim currently rn, but still remember watching this video when i was a kid when it came out and was blown away.
Ahh, nerd cube predicted how no mans sky would be 2 years before it came out
Dan needs to revisit this game with new updates
this game is according to the devs gonna be "Daggerfall in space".
WHAT!?!
The video really doesnt show how beautiful this game can be
best neredcubed video
This and No Man's Space have got to be the greatest games I've ever seen.
I know this video's ultra old and all, but yeah, now the interior design system is way better because of a recent update, you can even make multiple floors.
What a lovely place to have a picnic
He said nothing about firefly in the video, but then I checked the description and died
Anyone else think Dan should play this again? It's been updated a shit ton since his last video on it.
definitley
NERDCUBED COMPLETES/MODS RODINA! Nerdcubed, I fucking beg of you make that a god damn thing!!! I don't give a shit that this was made back in -2000000 make that a thing dammit!
This game probably did better than no man's sky and most space games
its underrated
It really didn’t. The worlds on this game are completely barren and empty. Nothing much to do than look around and walk across the worlds which have nothing on them but terrain. Gets boring after a while.
engineering is tiberium sun when clicking an engineer. this was a main feature of my childhood
OMFG how the hell did they do this, its so awesome! especially the planets!
I actually played the tech demo for this game at comicon! I had the same reactions.
I still think about this game sometimes
Sweet firefly reference, Dan.
Fun fact the dev of this game worked at Bethesda Softworks on Oblivion and Fallout. Here's another fun fact that I love,
ITS STILL BEING WORKED ON AND IT LOOKS AND FEELS AMAZING BUY IT
That music had me constantly thinking of the Nutcracker Suite.
(Not that that's a bad thing, I quite liked it.)
12:55 that bit of the soundtrack really has a mass effect 1 vibe to it...holy shit i'm in love
The difference between this and no mans sky is this is actually good
no mans sky is good now so whats the difference now lol?
@@SorchaSublime The difference is it took no mans sky years to be good
@@Its_Mannix ok, but it is good now, which is all that matters.
@sorchamurray5594 I posted this 4 years before you replied. Of course the game changed in that time :P
That description makes me cry.
shit mix this with the game space engine and youve got one hell of a game!!!
Wait
with the ship
couldn't you make a TARDIS?
Yeh the only downside is that you can't warp
Vecro Boss
Oh well... At least you have a ship that's bigger on the inside
+XxTheGaming GamersxX omg yes.
AJ Brown
I AM A GENIUS
"Scares the willies out of me."
Not sure if Hitchhiker's Guide reference, or just a thing British people say...
Why is it a re-entry, if he never left before that...
I've checked, the planets rotate, orbit, and other objects (like destroyed ships) are subject to realistic physics. I once waited for day to turn to night on Jarilo and I once watched a wrecked enemy ship enter orbit around an asteroid.
21:30 "Blind and mad! Never a winning combinaPLANETPLANETPLANETPLANET!"
Jonathan Hughes lol i read that RIGHT when he said that
SmallTrafficCone me too
PuLEASE play more of this! This game is awesome, and I would love to follow an amazing adventure, A permadeath would be awesome, please! I want to see MOAR!!!
They have updated it and it's amazing do another one
When you say "put anything out there" someone is just gonna put in big letters "ANYTHING"
11:36 nerd’s ash from evil dead impression
Low poly, Space exploration, sandbox, build your own space ship.
Sign me the fuck up!
jesus it's been 6 years
omg ive been looking for this for forever
You could really add the entirety of Skyrim, Fallout 3 and New Vegas, GTA5, Red Dead Redemption, GTA San Andreas, and Oblivion all into one small corner of the one planet he visited. I fucking want this game, and a PC that can run it. ; n;
Dalion Heart you could try the demo
My graphic card burnt out months ago, and I don't have the money to replace it. I'm using an ancient replacement card that can hardly play UA-cam videos. I can't even play simple games like Terraria on it. I would definitely be playing the demo, otherwise. ; u;
Dalion Heart its okay
i forgot there was a demo and wasted 15 dollars on a game i can only play on 10 fps
yaaaay
Nonuv Urbeeznus At least you'll have it forever. Maybe some day you will get a PC that can play it at 60+ FPS. :D
Dalion Heart one day...
*looks at the stars, wanderstruck*
*gets fucking annihilated by space robots*
IM LOOKING FORWARD TO IT!
Fun fact: "Rodina" means "motherland" in Russian.
two year anniversary of this video
I got the $2 version of this game some time ago (a few months before this video went up). Since I only paid $2, I just got the game as it was, without any updates that came after. Perfectly fair imo. But this game that I got for $2, with 4 relatively monochrome planets turned out to keep me engaged much longer that the $60, 18 basquillion-planet No Man's Sky could even hope to do. It did just about everything 10x better than NMS.
this needs a permadeath
The Dr Who theme is perfect for this video the music is PERFECT
This game kind of reminds me of Xenosaga: Der Wille Zur Macht. At least the beginning of it. Man, I loved that game, which is why I love this game, too! I wonder what they'll do with it.
Imagine a Lovecraftian mod for this. you're just traveling through space and what you thought was a meteor is actually a massive great old one and when you land on its skin it turns out that even its microscopic parasites are massive.
And then you suffer insanity damage and set yourself on fire.
Hey Nerdcubed! NMS will have a bunch of barren wastelands too! they only show the earth-like ones in the trailer, those are the ones further from the center! The closer you get the weirder and aliener planets get :D
This game laughs in the face of Sean Murray and No Man's.
I dont get why Dan likes this game so much. He says its about exploration but the planets are just monotone lumpy terrains with no distinct or interesting features. Its like exploring a blank sheet of paper.
More like a lumpy piece of s-... Sandpaper. I hope they add wildlife and other features
DeadIyPotato he* this game is only made by one guy.
Alibaba Saluja Oh damn. One guy Impressive.
I cannot wait for No Man's Sky.
Buttmun wanna bet 50$ ull be dissapointed from it?(in case u havent noticed,im being sarcastic)
BUTTMUS No Man's Sky and Fallout 4 are my most anticipated games of 2015 - 2016
BUTTMUS My computer can almost run it at a playable frame rate... and I get 20 FPS in Minecraft... (;_; I need a better computer.)
lampadein Might be a good idea if you get 20 fps in Minecraft.
BUTTMUS My mid-2010 iMac can easily run Minecraft at 60fps. What kind of computer do you have???
Game theory shouldn't do a video on the lim all drive, no no, it should be on cruising speed, because we already kinda know how the lim all drive works.
I want this in vr.
Amazing.
The rules of space number 1 dont fly into the sun number 2 make sure your on the right speed for landing number 3 dont lt dan fly a ship
16:53 I wish I could've seen his initial reaction!
For those of you wondering what the hell he was saying about Engineering, it is from C&C Red Alert 3, when you click on your Engineer if you are playing as the Soviets. Supreme Commander Obvious awaaaaay.
And the other CnC games.
you could this video as a torch
16:46 Is that a Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy reference you snuck in there Dan?
The demo is great!
To bad this turned out to look, play, perform and just be better then no mans sky
What are you talking about, this looks like a bunch of clay.
Gameplay>Graphics everytime.
Cat Hugger mmm not always. The graphics can change the way you feel during the game, the atmosphere of the game. Graphics means the way the game looks, not just how good it looks. Obviously you want the game to feel like you are in the world you're meant to be in. What's the point of playing a space game for example if the graphics will look like a fantasy game?
Michael Moscrop Well if you wish to be like that. I hope you have fun with some walking simulator that looks amazing in VR or something. But personally I want to actually be doing something fun in a game. So personally it's gameplay over graphics everytime for me.
Michael Moscrop Rosina? And No man's sky. Lololol! No amount of updates are going to made a broken game good. How are they going to completely redo the game via updates? And if you mean Rodina. Not really. At this point No man's sky is pretty much a prettier Rodina. But Rodina your ship can burn. You can move in your ship. Customize it. And you have to fix it up after battles and stuff. And it has some story ish things to do. So honestly I would enjoy this game over No man's sky just because of the ship aspect. I bought No man's sky and never could be bothered to return it. All I do is go into creative and kinda just own a big ass ship forgot what those big ships you can call are called and a nice ship with a nice base and just fly around and see what's up. Not much is going on. Rodina is much more active. Having to actually take care of your ship and being able to make it how you like.
You should do a completes series for Rodina
18:00 I was hoping Dan would loop back around the sun and make a Voyage Home reference.
2:20 ...barrels of pickles and cabbage. Also vital on a ship.
they added the fire extinguisher thrusters
they have more fuel than the jetpack and they're slightly more powerful i think
