Inherited all her LPs, so by the time the revival came round in the late 70s, I had an enviable collection of ska. Loved all the gigs: Electrical B'room; Hastings w'ends, all good stuff. Wasn't quite brave enough to dye my hair, but did have a No 3 feather cut that I loved. Memories, remember, are made of this.

The fact that true skinheads (not racist) and Jamaican musicians like Laurel Aiken, the Skatalites, Desmond Dekker, Lee Perry, have worked together and made some of the best music is a blessing, and will never fade. Cheers!

Skinheads appeared some 10 years before punk. Original skins listened to ska/reggae, soul and mod artists. Skinheads wore brand name clothing. Original punks were working class like skinheads, but had a "dirtier" and more shocking look, and they had more anarchist or left-wing worldview. When punk came there was a skinhead revival, and the new skinheads started listening to punk.
