Lin Manuel Miranda wrote the songs for Lion king about 3 years ago. the songs from moana were written just last year to this year. so probably he was working on his latest album WARRIORS when moana 2 songs were being written.
I was all ready to hate Mufasa, however reviews are saying it’s genuinely a beautifully written story and the music is phenomenal. I’m actually excited for it now.
My 16 month old exclusively seems to LOVE Miranda. Other soundtracks are meh for her, like Froze. This year we were .001% listeners for We Don't Talk About Bruno, Surface Pressure, Shiny, AND You're Welcome. Not to mention only 10% of listens were on Spotify - the rest was youtube. She proves herself to be the BIGGEST fan of his songs.
Disney should have hired him back to write more original songs for Moana. Hopefully he’ll be back to write more original songs and produce the live action Moana with Dwayne Johnson, who will also reprise his role as Maui. Also, I think Miranda should at least do a film adaptation of the musical Broadway of Hamilton soon with Warner Bros distributing in my opinions.
Saw Mufasa. One thing that stands out is how bad the songs were. None of them were memorable. When I saw the first Lion King most of the songs were instantly memorable. Love Lin but this one was a failure
