Yes! Just transition right from the countdown into the answer. Video would be twice as good. Or! Have them show the video for a few seconds after just the audio, see if we can then guess it with the visual cue.

I was so happy to see Nightwish made it on the list. They don't usually make lists they 100 percent deserve to be on.
Normally I'd agree but from just watching this i wouldn't wanna be on this list as like 15 songs on this I'd consider as metal to nu metal, while the rest are just death metal or grunge

I guessed about 35 completely right, with 5 where I knew the revealed song but couldn't guess from the sample and the last 5 I had no clue.

I tried to keep track of the time period and pick out some popular bands prematurely. Yep

Two thirds?! Literally the only band I could see is a stretch that it's not metal is like Ghost, and then Motörhead is like obviously hard rock and same with Mötley Crue. There's probably other ones I'm forgetting tho lol but everything else is definitely metal whether u like it or not

@@elliotelminberg9675 Breaking Benjamin's latest album is touching metal but still probably Hard Rock rather than metal, the vast majority of their material is rock.
Five finger are pretty much the same, especially their later albums as they got more radio friendly.

It’s odd that these songs are put in the same genre. Some of the songs have a sort of techno sound, some has a pop sound and some is actual metal. If you’re going to count some of these songs as metal you should include Nickelback
I got from 1980 to 1999! Not bad! Ive seen! Megadeth, Dio, Black Sabbath, Anthrax, Testament, Exodus, Death Angel, Living Color, Helloween, Kreator, Metallica, Def Leppard, Foreigner, Styx, Vixen, Iron Maiden, Sanctuary, Five Finger death punch, The Hu, Queensryche, The Voodos, Yngwie Malmsteen, Richard Marx. So quite a few bands in my lifetime!

Oh man, how bad. I got 20 out of 45, but that was like 17 from 1980 to 2000 and only 3 from 2001 to 2024 😂 Although I knew more than half of the 2000s songs when the solution was given 🙈😆
I knew about 80% fully, another 5% I knew the song or the band, but as it got up in the tears, it got harder, and the last 10 years was where I got the most wrong.
I only knew hearts on fire, amerika and repentless, I guess I am still a beginner metal head.
The unforgivin is which is in 1991 is my favourite song in the world. Edit: and fuel by Metallica is good. And freak on a leash
If youre gonna make a metal list by year, at least pick songs that match the era. The 80s were fine, the 90s needed more thrash, early 2000s was okay with Nu Metal, but everything after that completely missed what the dominant metal sound was of the era. Everything from roughly 2005 and on should have been dominated by melodic metalcore, gojira esc stuff, djent, and then way heavier stuff going into the 2020s. Just as an example, i can promise you that when people think of metal in the year 2022, LUX AETERNA by Metalica is not even close to what theyre thinking about. Itll probably be something closer to Lorna Shore with their Pain Remains album.
This isn't about being representative or a charts of metal, but a quiz. Making it too obvious would be against the point of a quiz.
Missed more of these than I care to admit. Probably only got about two thirds of them right?

I thought i knew metal music but honestly i was lost around 1992. I new a few but not many. Around 2003 and up everything sounds the same, a few i wouldnt call metal at all
