    I'm a tad disappointed that for $250 it doesn't come with the handlebars like the ShotGun original had with it. I will check it out, great review!

    What's the "unicorn" mount you're using on the camera pointed back at the cockpit?
    I've currently got my GoPro mounted direct to the bars, and when it's looking back at us, my daughter on the Shotgun seat is so close to the camera it's difficult to keep her in frame.
    Any product links would be hugely appreciated.

    If I’m a larger rider, 285lbs, would it best to do a seat like this or a trailer? Just wondering about frame and tire capacity. I have a Specialized Hard Rock ultra bike (19” frame)

    Hi, I’m thinking to buy one of those but I was concerned about frame issues with my new mtb bike since it has a carbon frame (SC Tallboy) ... do u think is this ok? Or the regular shotgun is also ok with carbon frames?

    • @TheBikeDads

      Official word for all off-road seats is 2 years old. They really need to be able to hold their heads up strong and be able to listen to you. We had one child start at 18 month but he was super strong and we took it very mellow

    The shape and rubbery grip of the Mac Ride seat is crucial for keeping the kid planted on the seat, in my opinion, and my favorite part of the Mac Ride. I also prefer the lower position of the Mac Ride seat over the taller position of the Shotgun Pro seat, especially because small, light weight children don't really care about or need much, if any, significant cushioning, and the Mac Ride's rubber seat gives enough cushion. The feet straps on the Mac Ride also keep the kid's feet locked in well, which could be a major safety function. Overall, I think the Mac Ride is just a more efficient design and every component seems to be really high quality including the stainless steel bolts.

    Thanks for making videos to help get more parents on bikes with their kids! Just curious, were you compensated in any way by either company?

    • @TheBikeDads
      @TheBikeDads  2 роки тому +1

      Both companies have very similar affiliation programs. Moreover both companies are run by talented and and creative people who love to get more kids on bikes. We have ridden bikes and had beers with both too. More confident kids on bikes is what is it all about.

    If I don't have an ebike, any advantage of the Pro vs the macride?

    • @TheBikeDads
      @TheBikeDads  2 роки тому +1

      The main advantage of Shotgun Pro is the seat can be adjusted to be level where the macride is fixed. This makes a difference if you have high stack and a low seat post clamping position. The seats are also different with the Pro being a padded traditional seat that sits a couple inches higher and the macride, a harder concave moulded seat that keeps the kids secure.

    Great vid! I currently own the original shotgun, and it seems that with the pro the kid would sit higher (due to spacing between the top tube and saddle). No issues with the kid helmet bumping into your chin with the pro version?

    • @TheBikeDads
      @TheBikeDads  2 роки тому +2

    Thanks for video and info. My son just turned two and is just starting on his Strider so I know the trails are right around the corner for him. I have a curious question not about the seats but on the backpack you have that the balance bike is strapped to in the video. Is it specific for the balance bike or is it a specific strap you have? I see myself wanting to enjoy the seat and also having him enjoy the balance bike on the same ride so bringing the bike with me instead of heading back to the truck would be perfect. Thanks again!

    • @TheBikeDads

      Most backpacks with a full face helmet carrier will work. It is still a little awkward and you have to watch it in tight singletrack but worth it for the extra riding you get with them.
