The reason this has more power throughout the rev range over the 600RR (despite the RR having a much higher top end) is because of it’s longer stroke, it doesn’t rev like a over bored i4, it’s got more torque low end due to its longer stroke, cam profile and the way it’s tuned

@@ImLeuff Seatbelts, ABS and traction control are probably mandatory in cars. I think it's stupid having to pay extra for the option to be safer. It they only sold bikes with it, it would not cost 500 but maybe 250 ekstra. And be most more safe.

Nice review. This thing looked good until I started looking at the competition. Honda wants $9400 for this. Z900 costs $8400. GSX-S750 costs $8300. MT-09 costs $9K even. So as always the question is, what justifies Honda's price?
the thing screems I need a tail. Probably a little petty but the fact this bike and the MT-09 have their rears end half way over the rear wheel is a bit of a deal breaker. They look like those old crusty demon dirt bikes without or half a rear mud guard.
Honda got these new 650’s “just about right”...both look excellent, and seem like performance is just good enough. The previous models were just shy of all that.

Depends what you're buying it for. ZX6R for commuting or street riding? No thanks - incredibly uncomfortable for anything longer than 20 mins. Track use and occasional street? Sure, ZX6R all the way. Also, the new ZX6R is butt-ugly in my opinion. -former owner of '08 ZX6R
I think the seating position is about the same but the ZX6R is a bit more but so worth it. Yeah the new one isn't as pretty as the previous gen but if you see it in person it's not bad. I was one of the ones before saying how ugly it was but once I went to see it up close I liked it a lot!
Some really great bikes coming out of all the manufacturers. Hard to make choices. I really like the neoretro look of the Honda’s. I like seeing the whole engine plus way easier to work on.
I see ZX-6R selling for around the same price and the insurance is actually cheaper. I like the CBR650R, but the pricing needs to be closer to the Ninja 650R.
It's a lovely bike - very nearly the natural successor to the old CBR600F (I believe it was called the Hurricane in the USA.) A bit of underseat storage and it would truly be the new version of that motorbike. Good job Honda.
I'm not familiar with "The Hurricane", but I just looked it up, and yeah, the very first CBR600F was called that. But all subsequent F models in the US dropped the Hurricane moniker and were referred to as F2, F3, F4, and F4i. Anyways, I like this new CBR650R, but it seems way too heavy at 456 lbs wet. Should really be more in the 430-lb range.

As for the weight, it seems that most manufacturers are losing the battle of the bulge. Electronics & massive exhaust systems play a big part - a de-cat link pipe wil knock a lot of weight off (10 - 12lbs). More complicated machines = more weight sadly. It's still a nice motorcycle ✌️

I think this should have been named the CB650R to go along with the CB650F (naked) opening the potential for the CB1000R to have a faired model as well. Being named "CBR" implies it's in their race bike line, which it is not. It would also mean that the faired CB1000R would be called a CBR1000R and that already exists - this is why this line of bikes should just be CBs with or without fairings.
Could be due to lightweight engine internals, the engine being a stressed member of the frame and higher modulus alloys compared to the crappy old junkers of the past.
I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that. I don't recommend this size bike to start on. Something around 300 cc is usually better. But! I do know people who started on large bikes and made out ok. I also know some that didn't make out well. It depends on the person. You may be ok and you may not. I don't know anything about you so be careful no matter what you decide.
This thing actually looks REALLY nice. Great value for the money. The only part Im not that fond of, is the tail. Its too basic, not "sharp" enough and doesnt match the front which is very sporty and aggresive looking. It would fit on a streetfighter or a naked bike but not on that sporty looking front.
Hahahahaha I could not disagree more. I'd rather see a bit of underseat storage for a change. It's supposed to be a semi-practical motorbike, not a SuperSports bike. (Incidentally, I'm not saying that I'm right - I just have a different opinion, and respectfully disagree). ✌️

@@Zi9makin9 That's undeniably cool. I thought that you were going for a razor sharp side profile, but that stubby thing is very well designed. Is that a stock photo or is it you? (Or someone you know?) I do think that manufacturers, (who undoubtedly have packaging difficulties - it's not easy) do need to think about storage. Bike security is hugely important, but disc locks, chains and D-locks are far too heavy to be carried in a backpack / rucksack - much better if they could be carried somewhere on the motorbike. There has to be a viable solution - underseat is obviously the best option for balance, but failing that there has to be something. I know that 'dummy' tanks are used for the air-box and electronics routing, but I'd gladly accept a marginally bigger 'dummy' tank if there was some way of secreting a lock in there - I dunno - maybe I'm deluded. Looking more at the bike it seems that its really awesome for someone who wants an a2 bike that u can stay with even after u got ur big boi A license... with 90hp its definitely better then the ninja 650... but its downfall is the price...

What kind of riding are you going to be doing (purely fun or work/school or around town or in the city, etc)? What is your real budget, with other life bills and factoring in insurance? Is it your first bike? Buy something you'll destroy in the first year or two of riding. If it's not your first bike, then you should already be well on your way to formulating answers to the above questions! Good luck!
I just sold my mint, like brand new 2011 gsxr750 for 5900. Lol.. that was alot of bike for cheap. I walked into the dealer to look at new bikes and saw new sport bikes are crazy money. My bike new was 12,000 and it was almost the same bike. Lol..

It's basically a modern CBR F3/4. My CBR F3 was a brilliant all-rounder.

It's not exactly much faster but the suspension and brake upgrades are nice. The 650f has better Low down torq to.
It’s cool to see a 600cc(+/-) in-line 4 in a more comfortable seating position yet still aggressive styling

I LOVE the styling but for the money, I'd rather get the new Ninja ZX6R. Brand new you get more for a few hundred bucks more and more power.

it's been increasingly watered down though; final version of PC35 was a true masterpiece

Why do these vibrate at such few revolutions per minute? I've ridden Honda fours from the 70s, 80s, and 2010s without that issue.
