Thanks for a brilliant yet simple to follow video guide! I to have just purchased one of these Dells that only came with a 500GB HDD so I will be looking to update that to at least 2TB for media/data and add the SSD to when Windows off just as you did. BUT with the added bonus of keeping the dvd drive! Thanks for the guide and for naming the components that we will need. Now I’m going to check out your other videos.
This was really useful video - thank you. I got a 3020 SFF thrown in with a 22” Dell monitor for £40 so I replaced the standard i-3 with an i5-4590, got a 480 GB SSD and I cloned the existing Win10 320 GB HDD onto the SDD and then replaced the HDD with a spare 1TB HDD and using a splitter cable and a BEYIMEI PCIE SATA Card as shown in the video I was able to keep all 3 drives functional. The only thing I would say is next time I might not clone the HDD on to the SDD but instead do a clean Win10 install. Next is to find a cheap, low profile graphics card for it.
@@RussTi Hi Tim, Thanks for the reply dear. Let me correct myself, I want two hdmi or mini dvi display port minimum to connect Two Monitors together to extend the display. Please let me know if you find anyone, as what I find is one with Hdmi and Vga only.

I just purchased this Dell model. I upgrade the HDD to SSD drive as the primary or system drive but unfortunately, Windows 10 is not able to detect the SSD with 512Gb capacity. I don't know the problem. what should I do? Thanks
sounds like a compatibility issue. Maybe try to update the BIOS and if still doesn't work try a different brand of SSD? The other possibility is cable issue. Try to use a different SATA cable.
Hi there! I have the exact same computer, and im doing this without the pci adaptor as i dont need the optical drive. Good day. Hopefully your still active, just wanted to ask, what kind of MoBo alternative I can use to replace my stack Tigris SF MB. Someone recommended me a z97 motherboard. Its a LGA 1150 socket, but im not quite sure about the screw holes. So I would i appreciate it if you can make a cideo about it. I just bought a 3020. It came with a 250gb ssd, so windows is already in. All I have to do is just get a hhd for it. Is there a storage limit? I want to go more than 2tb.
interesting, might have to give this a go, can fit my old steam games on my pc then lol. i got this same build basically with a gt 1030 at the bottom and same pci slot size to do this with.
No, they are not as fragile as people say. Iv'e never used static gloves and never had anything fail. But i for the most part work on older hardware that is not very expensive. But if i where to put together a pc for a couple thousand dollars i would consider using.

for the sff model, you can only fit one hdd, two ssd's can fit, there are sff caddy's for the 3010 sff model or use masking tape to hold left and right side edges of the ssd unit to the pc brackets and buy adapters, connectors.
Yes, I noticed that. Totally wrong and unprofessional. The best way to use a 3.5" drive and a 2.5" SSD together is to replace the DVD burner with an optical caddy that takes a 2.5" drive. Put the 2.5" SSD in the caddy, connect it all up and enable the SSD as a boot device in the BIOS.

I installed an evga xc rtx 3060ti 8gb on the dell OptiPlex 3010 tower with i7 3770s and 16gm ddr3 with an psu replacement with an evga 650 gt psu, fits and works just fine, but makes the pc heavier to carry! what about the extra heat generated by the SSD? Could you not just have the new SSD Hrddrive laying in there, not underneath the HDD Harddrive?

To really work it is necessary to change the power supply and the cabinet, if possible for a "gamer" one. And add one more cooler on the side
So you just leave that SSD dangling off the cables and lying on the motherboard?
